@@rhubarbspecialist3027 I'm sure he will get his due like Ludwig Göransson. He directed some great episodes on The bear! But I def thinks he deserves way more recognition.
You know you're watching a maestro when you google their history and every interview/etc you find it's critically important _when_ it was made, because they keep moving on and on and on through their art... They're all valid moments in time but the subject keeps innovating....
@@Eli-pl2pi Weird or random doesn't equal creative. I can almost see him cringing at this student film level creative spin on surrealism. To pull off avant garde filming you need to be extremely purposeful. This was an attempt to be different but actually took no creativity at all. It was dumb and as he is someone who films extremely well thought out "randomness and surreal images" this was the worst way to interview him. No actual creativeness.
The best music video director and a very promising up and comer in television, can’t wait for a full length freshman entry , Atlanta season 2 was incredible
Cody Walnut super disrespectful to him to make him carry his own mic and really distract from the interview by adding the whole "talking to yourself in the middle of nowhere" gimmick
Pitchfork Creative Dir: Hey let's put him in a field talking into a radio DJ mic on a mic stand and then move 500 yards away zoom way in and make sure its real shaky
What are some helpful resources to writing your own screenplay, expanding your directing, how to even come up with ideas, and so on? I'd like to make my own movie or music video by the end of this year but I'm new to this art form.
really wonderful expert advice. thanks for sharing your experience. could take a moment to checkout my work. I'm always looking to improve and evolve. "#throwbackthursday", "Can't Sleep At Night", "How I Used to Dance Before my Leg Accident". Artist Name: Fuzzy Soul Tiger
Just to clear this. He did direct his own interview. The whole concept of the series is directors directing themselves. He did the whole thing with a friend
One of the best in the film industry right now, in 5 years the whole world will know his name. Mark my words
I might be reaching but a lot of the credit Donald Glover gets should actually be given to this guy.

IMO the best music video director since Michel Gondry.
TJ Hastie and Spike Jonez
TJ Hastie THIS IS AMERICA
One of my favorite directors.
This was amazing. The style was unique and hearing him speak of his influences was itself very influential. Please do more of these.
Who’s here after watching the music video for Childish Gambino’s ‘This is America’🙋🏻♀️ such a masterpiece, congratulations👏🏻
The video for Chum is so under rated.
I can't wait to see what he does with Atlanta.
Kerry Nell Harper this is the future speaking and he killed it.

Big props to you love that childish gambino video
Hiro and Aphex twin. My favorites directors and artists 🙏 thank you.
the man is a gift to the earth
such an incredible artist, thank you!
You guys do realize the way the interview shot is comedic right? I thought it was funny.
Yeah man, I thought so too.
Had to see who was the genius director of "Teddy Perkins". Indescribably Good!!!
LovesJones06 yeah forsure. I knew he directed most of last season but goddamn, that is truely some of the best television I've seen
Nice little film; thank you - Hiro Murai has created some fantastic work; great to meet him! But, um, the mobile, mic, thing, though? :l
The irony that one of the best directors in recent history is being interviewed using some of the worst direction ever
I think it was purposeful

@@jackmcgreal4352 get over yourself bro
@@jackmcgreal4352 lmao every directors id is directed by themselves
A legend in his own right
wow this video is kinda like an indie extreme interview video. LOOK AT ME I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. impressive.
This is Americaのディレクターだよね!?
日本人!?すごい!!
The best music video director and a very promising up and comer in television, can’t wait for a full length freshman entry , Atlanta season 2 was incredible
SUCH A INSPIRATION
Really good Interview but unfortunately some people don't understand the concept, too bad.
He is great at his stuff!!!
here after his amazing work on this is America
holy shit man
great artist.
おめでとうございます!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for posting the video!
I love the Frank Ocean Grammy's performance instrumental in the back
So good
I recognized the Shins music video in the thumbnail immediately
no idea he directed me time holy shit what a guy
Love Hiro Murai's work. But this interview was TERRIBLY shot
Cody Walnut super disrespectful to him to make him carry his own mic and really distract from the interview by adding the whole "talking to yourself in the middle of nowhere" gimmick
Exactly, hipsters will always find everything offensive.
Aesthetic
nice interview man
Pitchfork Creative Dir: Hey let's put him in a field talking into a radio DJ mic on a mic stand and then move 500 yards away zoom way in and make sure its real shaky
Good one.
Social distancing ahead of its time
Can you please interview him about 'This is America'?
tripod my dudes.
Didn’t this guy direct episodes of Atlanta
Darth rue Animations yeah he does a good bit of it

try to make it as urban as possible otherwise its watered down white washed bullshit and NOBODY wants that now... can you do that?
ATLANTA YOOOOOOOOOO #genius
Fxrbe$ needs to be on here
That was the lamest mic drop ever. But he has a great eye for making visual masterpieces.
Chum Earl Sweatshirt 🎶
'This is America' brought me here.
why they playing earl?
What mic is that?
9 people dislike= hate his origin or hate the fact he's defend black people
Based on the other comments, I think they just hate the shaky way the interview was shot with the camera lol.
THIS IS AMERICA
Interview shots are bad, kinda disrespecting the interviewee. Other than that, nice to see the different influences, impressive works I must say..
what was the music playing at the end of this video
Ivan Hubbard Forest Gump by Frank Ocean
I loved the interview, but the camera proposital amauter was really annoying and difficult to follow what he was telling all the times he appeared
really wonderful expert advice. thanks for sharing your experience. could take a moment to checkout my work. I'm always looking to improve and evolve.
"#throwbackthursday", "Can't Sleep At Night", "How I Used to Dance Before my Leg Accident". Artist Name: Fuzzy Soul Tiger
Childish Gambino brought me here without regrets
great insight, but please hire someone better for the interview shoots the shots were distracting, not cohesive and some please get a tripod.
It was meant to be kind of creative in their heads
That was the point
Hiro should’ve directed his own interview. He looked uncomfortable being interviewed in dumb areas lol
Just to clear this. He did direct his own interview. The whole concept of the series is directors directing themselves. He did the whole thing with a friend
The car thing is too distracting, what the fuck kind of interview format is this?
Childish gambino this is american daum dood
Why’d you film this in 60fps. It’s disgusting
It's not even in 60fps lmao
