I love that the form factor is so close to the Olympus EM5 Mark III but it seems like this is a lot more vlogger friendly. I still prefer the look of the Olympus. The Nikon doesn't have IBIS but this is more than good enough.

I was doing follow-through feedback on my choice and fell here. "Causal"lly I agree... if casual is a semipro or a guy with no knowledge of photography. Z30 offers a lot for a very large range of people. This will be my 4th Nikon with two zooms. I shaved more than 3p.- 1,5kg from my first camera bag 😀 I feel at home with less than 1kg !!! F4004, F90, D90, Z30. From easy to full custom pics. Homing same results with 1kg !!!
I love this Z30, I like Compact Cameras and I used Point and Shoot Cameras to have with me at all times. But it is so great to see that segment evolve into APS-C Mirrorless Cameras with Interchangeable Lenses, yes they are a little bit bigger and heavier (So less compact), but the trade off is absolutely worth it.

nice review. i had a z50 but the flip-UP screen on that one was very weird. i got rid of it. z30 looks like a perfectly balanced camera for photo- and video-work. if i get this one, i could finally throw away my GoPro that I shoot most of my TH-cam vids with ;)
Just bought this to go with my new macpro m3 and the usb's are different. Really wish I knew this camera charged only by PC. I'm now waiting on an adapter not knowing if my camera even works because I'm trying to charge it on my old laptop and the light goes on for a few seconds then no light, no charge. I hate waiting for this adapter to know if my new camera even works! 😢

I sold a Sony ZV1 because in 4k recording the screen was virtually unusable. Is the screen in this bright enough to use in sunlight and does it remain so if shooting in 4k?
I love the design, but the view finder is a bit of a deal breaker. They should at least have made it possible to mount an external one for photography purposes.

Nikon z30 has slightly less resolution so it's BETTER in low light than the Sony. Nikon: 100 - 51,200. Sony: 100-32000. Battery life is 440 shots on the Sony; and 330 on the Nikon. Autofocus: -4.5 to +19EV on the Nikon; -3 to +20EV on the Sony. So, the Nikon z30 will autofocus better in low light and the pictures will be of higher quality, but you probably will have to buy a spare battery.

Both camera are good for the use case however the canon r10 has higher bit rate video. The main thing you should look for is the lens. Get a lens with a fast aperature and use lenses that are 35mm and above for that cinematic look
U need to get an adapter for it Its called nikon FTZ Because dslr camera mount of nikon if f mount and z 30 is mirrorless so it runs on the new z mount

I’ve seen some stunning images come off these Z30 , I think we all have got to focused on wanting more features better this better that , having something that produces great images and print to A2 really is all you need , no viewfinder does help but with a little experience you can manage without for a trade off for light and compact to carry / travel . No pro with deep pockets will even look at these , but would I want to travel with 2.8 lenses and a huge FF . Mmmm No

The r7 still hasa higher resolution sensor and 4k 60. I think the z30 isn't meant to compete. I think the camera that does compete with the r7 is the Fuji xh2 which was announced a few days ago . Also the nikon z50 has view finder

I heard in other video that the Z30 have a serious overheating problem... like you basicaly can't get to 30 minutes in 4K most of the time and even in 1080 it can overheat and stop recording.

I’m curious about the Z30, wasn’t this promoted as the first budget blogger camera for $500 when it was announced ? Few months later and it’s $200 past that point.
depends on how nice these photos need to be. a camera will always look better. But if these are quick rental post, then you should be fine. because your property will be rented fast anywas, But for selling where people will need to see these photos for a long time, the camera is very much worth the investment. Consider the canon rp for a wider look with a 16mm lens. The biggest quality boost will be by using bracketing/ hdr on your images to make them bright and proffeswional
@@TechThroughTheLens I don’t know where you find the back illuminated part, all I could find is APS-C type (23.5 x 15.6 mm), Exmor CMOS sensor. If back illuminated sensor, they would have marketed the hell out of it.
I don't think the Casual person cares about 4K for that kind of price paying nearly $1,000 isn't very casual in my book there's many options that's not 4K for half the cost and in a lot of TH-cam video reviews they talk about how there's not too much difference between 4K and 1080p that can be easily detected anyway. However I am looking to get a smaller format camera I really like the mirrorless ones but although I have always bought Nikon cameras in the past I feel a bit worried about this particular camera however it is so new I wonder if some things can be fixed in a firmware upgrade
I think people of any use case can appreciate 4k and a high quality camera. You can appreciate a ferrari even if you are not a car person. I think if you have a the money a 1000$ isnt crazy for a camera. The videos done by youtubers who do 1080p and 4k comparisons often do that test wrong. A good example is matti hoppia. You can 1000% tell the difference between 1080p and 4k. The canon r10/ nikon z30/ zve10 might be good options for you to look at
For casual photographers I think this would also be a pretty nice choice

yah you should be fine using a lav on the cold shoe mount. And the z50 is def the way to go if you need flash

Why no flash Nikon?
Just add an OVF if you need one. This is basically the new Nikon A, so buy that OVF. It reminds me of the old Canon PowerShot I used to use.

I’m curious about the Z30, wasn’t this promoted as the first budget blogger camera for $500 when it was announced ? Few months later and it’s $200 past that point.

depends on how nice these photos need to be. a camera will always look better. But if these are quick rental post, then you should be fine. because your property will be rented fast anywas, But for selling where people will need to see these photos for a long time, the camera is very much worth the investment. Consider the canon rp for a wider look with a 16mm lens. The biggest quality boost will be by using bracketing/ hdr on your images to make them bright and proffeswional
The price itself already consider not expensive and under promotion come with free small tripod with camera remote control + spare battery

The sony cameras are back illuminated sensors, so yes they are all better in low light.
@@TechThroughTheLens I don’t know where you find the back illuminated part, all I could find is APS-C type (23.5 x 15.6 mm), Exmor CMOS sensor. If back illuminated sensor, they would have marketed the hell out of it.

I don't think the Casual person cares about 4K for that kind of price paying nearly $1,000 isn't very casual in my book there's many options that's not 4K for half the cost and in a lot of TH-cam video reviews they talk about how there's not too much difference between 4K and 1080p that can be easily detected anyway. However I am looking to get a smaller format camera I really like the mirrorless ones but although I have always bought Nikon cameras in the past I feel a bit worried about this particular camera however it is so new I wonder if some things can be fixed in a firmware upgrade
I think people of any use case can appreciate 4k and a high quality camera. You can appreciate a ferrari even if you are not a car person. I think if you have a the money a 1000$ isnt crazy for a camera. The videos done by youtubers who do 1080p and 4k comparisons often do that test wrong. A good example is matti hoppia. You can 1000% tell the difference between 1080p and 4k. The canon r10/ nikon z30/ zve10 might be good options for you to look at
