      Same here. I have 104K on my 2013, 2.4 and want to do this now.
      Anyone expect this milage is nothing to be concerned about as far as a belt failure is concerned. I have no noise or other symptoms, just being cautious here.

      @Curlyjo Robbie, diagnostics that I did lead me to realize; don't put a 2012 Compass through more than 3K RPM, starts to develop the squeak again

    One of the finest DIY videos I have yet seen. I would have fought with that one bolt for probably an hour before I figure it out it was left-handed thread. Bravo, good sir.

    Thanks for helping me finally fix the annoying belt noise I've been putting up with. Changing just the belt alone didn't do it but this did the trick and your explanation is great.

    Great video, nice in focus video that people can follow, and the belt routing diagram is a great bonus. This will also work for a 2012 Jeep compass sport that has the same engine.

      Yes, Yes and Ef YES!
      So is it a poor quality parts issue, anyone come to this conclusion? Are OEM parts available still that will solve our problem that is absolutely mind boggling?🤪🥴😫

    Can you remark on whether or not has there been a hit and miss good v bad tooling on parts, specifically the tensionors for our 2.4 VVT engines?

    Hi, I am trying to 4 help re: my 2013 dodge avenger 2.4L. my husband took care of everything 4 me when it came to automotive problems. So, my fan belt was replaced in may 22. And now it's slowly shredding on the sides. Why would this happen?

    • @claztube
      @claztube 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe there has been a bad lot of parts manufactured that has been now for about a year sold to DIY'rs, and I'm going to check with a Chrysler Dealership's Parts Department to see what I find is available today.

  • @bozzy7946
    @bozzy7946 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just a question, when you lift on the tensioner, should it be extremely difficult? I added a wrench to a socket handle and still couldn't get it to move

    • @claztube
      @claztube 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      😮 I expect by now the problem has been resolved.
      Just have to add that I found that the tensioner, unless its spring mechanism is fully worn the amount of pressure exerted in such confined wrench quarters makes for a serious strong arm wrench job.
      The tensioner in this video did seem to have a spring that had lost its zing...
      Also Felix is, along with being talented, super strong.❤

    • @bozzy7946
      @bozzy7946 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@claztube oh yea I learned quick that mine was in good shape still, it took a hex head and fortitude. Lol thank you for checking in

    • @claztube
      @claztube 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it is a Bear if that tensioner's spring mechanism has not become sprung.
      In the video you note the back and forth motion Felix showed us is telling me the Zing in the Spring internally is well worn.
      Hence it will release tension with less muscle...IMO humble as it is for IDK much for certain. 😅😮

    Great video. To make the removal of the old tensionner easier use a Allen wrench and use it as a lock pin. Then you can access both bolts easily 😎

      @brandonb5818 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sticking your hand up there while a wrench is on a spring-loaded component is pretty fucking stupid. The way he showed it is the best and safest way.

    I've changed my belt tensioner pulley recently. Had the kit with the new belt, tensioner pulley and idle pulleys. Changed out my crankshaft seal thinking this was the issue with the belt falling off as well on my 2013 Chrysler 200 LX. Belt still came off recently and now I'm going to spend more $ to get this car back running again. Trying to find out after changing the tensioner pulley out, the idle pulleys out, a new belt, and changed and put a new crankshaft seal. Wtf is going on, is there something else that could be the issue. I'm getting headaches getting to figure out out with this car

    • @claztube
      @claztube 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same issue has stricken my 2013 Chrysler 200.
      Have you found a solution yet? This seems to be infecting several 2.4 VVT owners belts.😮
      Mine was fine after the initial job (parts kit from O'Reilly's @$80) was done I noted upon first startup for the next couple days I'd hear a cyclic squeak but that intial squeak on startup would go away after about 30 - 45 seconds.
      Then some time later, less than two months I guess, the squeak was nary noticed again on startup or normal running operation.
      But as winter came on and low temperatures befell the south west 😢 the squeak returned.
      I'm guessing, spitballing here that the tensioner is poor quality and causing a sundry of failures.😢

    • @StevM2024
      @StevM2024 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haven't found a solution yet because at the time this took place. I lost my job the same day, so really haven't been able to really get the belt to see if it's just a poor quality of belt, etc. I'm just tired of Chrysler vehicles in general and looking for a newer model. My fiance for some reason wants to keep the car. Yes it's paid off, but how can I enjoy this with all these sudden things I need to replace every so often

    • @FixitFelix529

      If it’s the one on 3:57 you have to take it out rotating clockwise , if it’s still not coming out use a breaker bar to give you more leverage.
      If all of that don’t work out WD-40 and let it sit still over night and try again
