Killer song, and fifty years later I'm still trying to figure out John Bonham's time keeping. He hits drum parts that should not be possible, and when you think there should be one he delays it. It's genius, but as an Air drummer of my caliber very frustrating! 😂
If you count the 16th notes in the void, you can sync up his strike that ends the silence. I think they created the song to frustrate all of us air drummers.
Presence was a very underrated album, one of my personal favourites. It's the only Led Zep album that has no keyboards on it. Jimmy Page also said that this is one of his favourite Zep albums.
Yes Brother YES!! Beyond underrated, and a personal fave of mine also. They took all of the recent tragedy they went through (Plant's son dying, his horrible car accident, the fight Bonzo had with the security team in Oakland, Bonzo becoming an alcoholic, Page getting more and more into Heroin.
This band has been my favorite for over 20 years and how did I not realize that there's no keyboard? Thank you for pointing that out. And yes this album is very underrated. Their later albums are in general.
From the same album as "Achilles," which I know you liked as well. The whole album is electric jam heaven. The only "slow" song on it is also electric, but a gentle, soul-caressing blues number called "Tea For One."
The production on Presence is stellar! Maybe the best in their catalogue. And the boys' playing is in top form! Also, your audio sounds great! Full and bassy!!!
This is a cover, that Zep puts their own spin on. I was a teenager in the 70’s and am a DIE HARD Zep fan! I saw them twice in one week in NYC! I was 16, and in love with “ The Golden God” I bought my grandson a tee shirt, you know the one that says “Led Zeppelin” has Icarus and says “United States Tour 1977” my grandson is 3!
One of my all time favourite covers. In this case the original was written and performed by Blind Willie Johnson back in 1927. If you're thinking of doing an entire Zeppelin album, maybe go with PHYSICAL GRAFFITI.
A rain storm on an insanely blustery day. When the wind seems to hold the rain back, and in the next second dumps half the Atlantic in your face!.... Brilliant!
I just discovered your channel and it's always great to find another disciple. Great song and very underrated, as this whole album is. Listening to the whole album. is the only way to truly appreciate Led Zeppelin. I'll be back! Thanks
Must be played LOUD . Led Head since 73...may be the best overall rock song ever. Only CD in my truck over a year now...whole lp is energy Still have my pink 8 track i got in high school Edit: live The Song Remains the Same lp from 73...the guitar work will blow yer mind. As well as, the drums, bass and vocals. A whole other level of musicianship. Promise. Trust me.
Listening to full albums is the way to go, for sure. Would love it if you did that, starting with album 1. Lots of hidden gems in there. ;) I've just come across your Led Zeppelin reactions and enjoying the hell out of them. Thanks!
Dude, you gotta experience Zeppelin the right way - start to finish, song by song, album after album, from Led Zeppelin 1 to Coda. They never made anything less than really good. However, most of their songs are truly great, and some are downright transcendent and eternal.
This song gives me chills every time! Love the live versions Knebworth 79 and especially O2 Reunion even tho John Bonham wasn’t there his son Jason was fantastic. Achilles Last Stand is my second favorite especially at Knebworth!
I was 14 when this came out and a friend gave it to me for my birthday. Love this album. I used to crank it, and especially this song, on my record player in my room...my parents never did complain! I think after decades I finally have the air drums down to Bonham's amazing beats on this one.
Love the reaction - Bonzo - amazing right? The surviving members of the band got together to perform a benefit concert for Ahmet Ertegun, the founder of Atlantic records, in 2007. This was the first ( and sadly the last so far) time they had performed a full set list since their 1980 concert tour. Bonham died shortly after that. For this gig, John's son, Jason Bonham, is on drums and is fabulous. The band is still amazing and tight. They did this number - and Kashmir is 🔥🔥 well worth watching. Thanks! ☮
A killer track full of angst; Presence has the monumental Achilles Last Stand, this track, and some more obscure tracks, one of which is the superlative Tea For One
This was the third song Zep played when I saw them. I recommend the live version from the Earls Court concert. Bonham is unbelievable on that one. And, again, Plant recorded the vocals for this album while in a wheelchair.
If you like Zep, John, why not do the “Zeppelin run” and go through their albums in order? Great classic rock, and it will be a treat for you and for us! You could skip the songs you already know from Mother Ship, if you want.
The album "Presence" suffers from a serious flaw. It comes after the masterpiece "Physical Graffiti". There are MANY really good songs on the album that most people forget about or never heard of. Including one of my favorite Zepp songs most people have never heard. "Hots on for Nowhere." To me, it's the last true "Zeppelin" album. As "In Through the Outdoor" was not a bad album but not a true "Zeppelin" album either.
Mothership is a compilation of tracks on all the albums. There's nothing new on it. As an intro to LZ it's ok, but not listening to the albums in chronological order means you miss some gems that don't get heard often enough.
There are a few good songs. Thats it. The public had spoken as it was not accepted very well. It is not underrated. Dont get caught up with posters here. This album was their second worst album sales for good reason.
It has a couple of clunkers on it, imo. But I think it’s sales were down for two reasons: musical taste was beginning to change and punk was on the horizon. 2) And by 1976 there were many more competitive bands out there that were doing the same style or even heavier, than in 1969 I think it speaks to the time more than the quality of Presence. As we just heard, Zep was still putting out excellent songs with excellent musicianship. But Achilles Last Stand was SO prog for them, it threw off their core audience. Plus, what 15-25 year old guy wants to listen to a slow, 7 minute blues song in Tea For One? Over time, the estimation of Presence has grown, from what I’ve seen in comments and reactors.
I like your Number 1 and 2. And ya this music was not for young guys OR gals. Just because decades have past and a few reactors now thing its good music does not make it so. If it wasnt for the LZ label. This album would have died a fast death. I posted my feelings about the album so John understands this is not the great music LZ is famous for. @@helenespaulding7562
at 7:07 you have the look of a man who's face is being melted by the sickest harmonica solo in rock...
Killer song, and fifty years later I'm still trying to figure out John Bonham's time keeping. He hits drum parts that should not be possible, and when you think there should be one he delays it. It's genius, but as an Air drummer of my caliber very frustrating! 😂
That is soooooooo funny. I never ever thought of someone trying to air-drum to Bonzo..almost impossible !
If you count the 16th notes in the void, you can sync up his strike that ends the silence.
I think they created the song to frustrate all of us air drummers.
The GOATS...PERIOD! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Robert Plant is sooooo. naughty on the harmonica!

No acoustic parts on it either.
@@caramanico1At least 2 of those events happened after Presence.
Wasn't in love with the album at first, but over the years it may be my second favorite Zepp album after Physical.
“Swagger” I think might be a good word. Zep has it to the max.
Makes you wonder why more songs didn't feature Plant's harmonica.
From the same album as "Achilles," which I know you liked as well. The whole album is electric jam heaven. The only "slow" song on it is also electric, but a gentle, soul-caressing blues number called "Tea For One."
My favorite Led Zeppelin song🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude L.Z. Are a blues-based band! Hell they invented their own genre! They do it all😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You REALLY have to listen to Zepp in chronologic order to fully appreciate the quality of their musicianship.
Abrupt silence speaks to the soul when we have the presence, just that simply complex. The harmonica is a beast.
The production on Presence is stellar! Maybe the best in their catalogue. And the boys' playing is in top form!
Also, your audio sounds great! Full and bassy!!!
They did this live several times! Always fantastic! Every song...rvery album! Robert on that harmonica! Try this live 1979 at knebworth!!
My favorite led song. Great reaction Mr.Slop.

One of my all time favourite covers. In this case the original was written and performed by Blind Willie Johnson back in 1927.

It’s always only them! They are the main and only players! GOATS! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You're in for a treat

MMMONKEY ON MY BBBACK BACK BACK BACKKKK
"Achilles Last Stand" kicks off the "Presence" album, "Nobody's Fault but Mine" kicks off side 2 of the album.
Tasty f'ng song. This album is underrated.
One of my favs. Just about lose my sh*t when this comes on. Seriously, what didn't they do? Thanks for posting it.

Blind Willie Johnson first recorded the song of the same name which inspired this way back in 1927 😲

I love this song,
Loved it.
One of my favorites!! Incredible song in every way
Fun to play on guitar.
The best Zep track...Full Stop.
Bonham monstered this album, and in particular this and “Achilles Last Stand”.
A killer track full of angst; Presence has the monumental Achilles Last Stand, this track, and some more obscure tracks, one of which is the superlative Tea For One
ooh, I don't think I know this one dude? ooh yeah. Hilarious Slops.

This wasn’t played at Earls Court in 75. Song didn’t come out till 76.
@@OutOnTheTiles Oh. Thanks. I think the live performance I'm thinking about was in 1980.
Just FYI, the band The 77s does an amazing cover of this also. 🤘
It's a cover - but one of my favorite covers among the many they did.
A great Zeppelin song off a killer album Presence..
"Nobody's fault but mine" - Otis Redding
If you like Zep, John, why not do the “Zeppelin run” and go through their albums in order? Great classic rock, and it will be a treat for you and for us! You could skip the songs you already know from Mother Ship, if you want.
DAMN! 😎
I love the fat soulful sound of Bonham's bass drum ! Ludwig all the way !
You should really watch the live version at there concert in 2007
1973!!

HEY JOHN - Mothership is good, but it's more like book #1 in a series of 10 books.
Peace. I'm subbed.
The this is on Mothership.
Based very loosely on the 1930s song, by Blind Willy Johnson, of the same name.
👍
Check out Rush

so does mine! brutal guitar from the master.
