Water lily can be easily grown from its leaf, tuber, rhizomes, and seeds. Propagation of water lily plant from its leaf is very easy and economical.
Rainy season and early winter is the best time to grow or propagate water lilies from leaves. To grow or propagate this aqua plant, use fresh and untreated water for the best results.
Take a few matured water lily leaf with sufficient stalk length (7-8 days old leaves).
Keep these leaves in normal water for 10-15 days in a shaded area.
Germination/Propagation of new plant start after 4-5 days.
After 8-10 when a few leaves and roots start appearing from the baby plant, shift this plant in potting soil.
Clay soil and pond soil is best for planting water lily plant.
Use organic compost like vermicompost and fully rotten cow dung manure as plant food.
Water lily plant loves warm weather, hence keep it in a place
Where it can get at least 4-5 hours of sunlight.
Water lily plants grown from leaves start blooming within 2-3 months.
