KEITH MULEVHU UBUTUNGWA

THE late Keith Mulevu, one of Zambia greatest music legends, sang a beautiful song which became famous in the 70s entitled Ubutungwa or Freedom in one of the local dialects.
In the song, Mulevu warned Zambians against selling their own country to foreign enemies because so many citizens would die due to individual greed.
The song also reminded Zambians about the importance of guarding the freedom or independence they were enjoying jealously because they only had one country - Zambia.
The song was sang against the backdrop of the freedom struggles in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia and other neighbouring countries in the region at that time.
