i remember watching a hooper video before he blew up and i was like, why is this dude trying to teach anyone how to deadlift, fast forward he is prolly the one dude who is going to break the world record. There is something about this guy that just doesnt make any sense, its like watching your casual gym goer become the strongest person on earth in like 2 o 3 years. That feeling of never seeing it coming its just amazing.
Yeah its unreal. Dude used to run marathons. Casually went into powerlifting and is now dominating strongman while being lighter and shorter than other champs.
I think it's because he's a kinesiologist and has experience in many other sports. Probably trains more efficiently than everyone else. Can't explain it otherwise myself

Definitely on the way to being the record breaking guy in Strongman. I’m from Uk and love all British strongman competitors but have to acknowledge the crazy abilities in Mitchell. I don’t think anybody has brought such a level of athleticism to the sport before. If one guy can get this lifted from the current top 10, my moneys on this guy. No disrespect intended
Eddies was a much more amazing feat in my opinion because i think it was like a 30 or 40 kg jump from the previous record... To even consider jumping a record by 5 kg is insane

There also weren't this many people attempting and failing the lift yet, nor were there specialists working towards it. Eddie's lift including the jump was insane, but it isn't quite as big a jump as people make it seem like. Just like eddie or thor or brian could demolish many USAWA records. IG what im trying to say is the deadlift record wasn't nearly as big a deal as it was now. Although Thor's lift was done under stricter circumstances, with less struggle. And he was using a single ply squat suit as opposed to eddie's multiply deadlift suit

Mitchell is extremely strong in the pull, he just struggles in the lock-out. If he were to train that part of the lift more intensively we could potentially see some unimaginable weights be moved for the first time in a deadlift. He also has a very good influence for the sport by being probably the most athletic among the competitors and promotes an overall healthy lifestyle.
So dissapointing to see hicks not even attempt it, I don’t believe anyone can do it expect thor. It’s getting boring now, put £500,000 on the lift and see if anyone comes out the wood work
Eddies 500kg, whilst amazing pushing the record up so far in one go, has absolutely RUINED the entertainment factor of these contests Now everyone has to try and one up the 501 and practically no one is capable of it
There's no such as no one is capable of it. Having just adding even that 1kg is something that always happened with breaking deadlift records. It's just no one has every really even attempted to lift 500kg until Eddie, but it's also not something that's unheard having a huge jump in weight.

Hooper however to pull 505 that fast on w whim is crazy. I feel as though he has the best shot as of this point. Rauno looked most convincing. Hooper has some sketchy lockouts, but he’s got crazy leg drive, so no wonder he broke it off the floor so easily. But Rauno is just crazy strong at lockout. The fact that he was able to break it off the floor coming off of a knee surgery, makes me think he’s got it.

If you compare it to his 450kg where he started fighting it the moment it got to his knees and hitching like a madman, you’d have a reference for how not close that was. Mitch is gifted enough to have a chance, but nubies don't understand the casm of a difference between getting it to your knees and locking it out with someone like Mitch when it's a giant weakness. Ivan for example. Evan could break 500 off the ground but he would not lock it out. Mitchs attempt was no where close, any experienced lifter can see this, but I wish him luck, Rauno if his hamstring had not tweaked probably would of got it, again experienced lifters who have actually moved some weight can see Rauno was keeping his position and the weight was moving at his typical speed off the floor, lockout for him would not of been an issue

Yes, Mitch has to work hard if he is to have a chance to get the 505 kilos up. But he will still win so many competitions that no one cares if he fails.
So many strong deadlifters atm but I personally believe Thor is still the strongest and he will prove it again when he wants to. He won all deadlifts this year that he competed in, will not be different going ahead IMO.

he said too much water retention from the travel and couldn't breathe properly in his suit

He was badly struggling with 450, 505 was a pipe dream
