    Thank you for making this video, I have a Simplify and agree with you 100% that the coffee it makes always has a 🍷 wine like taste, even when I use it to brew Geisha, Kenya which are known for their acidity. I am also considering getting a OREA V3 too, thank you for making the comparison!

      Thank you very much for watching. There is a new Orea coming soon. Yes, I have preordered it already 😛

    I have multiple drippers in my rotation, but Orea gets the most use. I find that Orea gives the most consistent cup without too much fuss. Perhaps you can extract a fraction more from V60, but you really have to dial it in. I use Lance Hedrick's universal pour over recipe (2 min. bloom + 1 slow pour) with good results.
    I think your channel is one of the most underrated coffee related content. Almost there to 3k subscribers!

      Thank you very much. I agree with you on all your points. Especially the last one 😛.
      I practiced that Lance recipe a lot but now prefer 15:250 in 5 pours for fruity coffee.

    Its funny, I spend all this money on grinders and decent and still have not been able to make myself buy an Orea. It looks nice, but really to do it right you also need the fancy papers and the negotiator, and its just so much money for plastic when you add it all up!

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  ปีที่แล้ว

      The new filters can work without the negotiator but I get your main point. That is why I ordered Timemore flat bottom brewer to test on the channel. Who knows, maybe it is as good as the more expensive options.

    Jack, enjoyable video as always. I have the Orea as well. If you can I recommend getting the negotiator tool. Being able to brew with no bypass is one of its best features. From day to day there is the same profile. Once you find the right recipe you can brew the same cup over and over.

      Thank you. I will get the negotiator next time I order something from their website.
      I agree that it is definitely a very easy way to brew good pour over.

    Thanks for this. I have the Orea with a cloth filter and can't recommend it enough. On tht e sourness note, my experience is that you can go finer with the Orea than other pourovers, which reduces sourness and brings a nice balance to most coffees

      Thank you for watching. Cloth filter? Is it better than paper? How do you keep it clean?
      You are right that Orea allows us to grind finer.

    • @suferick778

      @@mycoffeeshow111 The cloth filter enables more of the coffee oils through for a richer flavour without any of the fines. It just washes through when used, and boiled with a detergent (I use Cafiza) every 3 weeks or so; no more need for paper filters

    I'm just gonna keep using my Hario 02 ( both costs more than my full Hario kit with carafe and extra's - too insane for me) - Im playing with filters now and there you have more variables again - and too many with my experience for now..

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are absolutely right. You can experiment a lot with regular V60 and the end result can be great. I’m considering Hario Switch now.

    Thank you for this video, I was curious about these 2 brewers.
    Do you think the V60 is still a valid contender or this new wave of brewers is making it obsolete (taste-wise)?
    I'm a very minimalist person, I have only 2 brewers for drip coffee, and that's my limit, so if I get one of these, I need to give another one away 😂

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching. I wouldn’t necessarily say they are better but definitely easier to use and more consistent. Maybe one day I should do a video about that.

    I had a look at the Orea site (should come with a warning! :) Disappointing to see all the bits you really need add up to an eye watering £74 (unit,collar,papers,negotiator)...... is it really that much better than a V60 at around £15 (unit and filters)

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As I said to the other viewer, you can get as good coffee using V60 but with my limited skills it is much easier to get amazing cup from Orea or Simplify. I have ordered Timemore flat bottom brewer for around £10-£12. We will see if it is as good as the others.

    I laughed for a long time when I heard the prices for these devices. If you cut a hole in the bottom of a one-liter coke box, you get the same thing, only for free.
