The Lucci fight is a classic. It remained top for years (many would argue it still is). That jet gatling was absolutely phenomenal.
It has the best finish to any fight we’ve seen so far. It wasn’t as character driven and as visually striking as the Katakuri fight but the Lucci fight had more emotional weight
I still cross my fingers and hope that Kaido brings Luffy to brinks that match what Lucci brought him to. Especially since Lucci has appeared in the manga again for the first time in over a hundred chapters!
Lucci is still pretty hard to top in terms of epic weight.

Was there ever any doubt that Katakuri would be number one? That fight is insanely good and it's crazy that it came almost twenty years into the series.
For me it was a tough call between the top two, so I was honestly fine with either of them being #1

Rob Lucci takes the cake, the anime was too drawn out taking like 20 episodes and the manga just wasn’t as gud as the anime animation

My favorite part about Luffy and Crocodile’s third round was when Crocodile acknowledged Luffy as a true pirate, not just some wannabe rookie. It had a real “welcome to the big leagues, kid” feel to it.

I feel like he had a moment similar to that with Doflamingo as well. The way Doffy spoke to him about awakenings - that's not a tone you take with someone you have no acknowledgement for.

The reason the Luffy vs Katakuri fight deserves to be number one, is because out of all Luffy's fights the fight with Katakuri is the most personal and intimate luffy ever had.
Let me explain, every Major fight Luffy had before that point was to save a country, a nakama, a brother or something big that was on the line. In the fight with Katakuri when Luffy left the mirror world with Brulee and left Katakuri stuck inside, there was no longer any reason for Luffy to continue the fight as he already achieved his goal to save sanji, take the red poneglyph and avoid fighting big mom or her crew.
Nothing was on the line at that point, katakuri was no longer a threat with no way to escape from the mirror world, sanji was safe with the crew and brook had the red poneglyph, all luffy needed to do was to wait for the time of the rendez-vous to come to meet his friends. But No, luffy chose to come back in the mirror wold risk the whole escape plan in order to supass katakuri and defeat him, it was the first time luffy wanted to defeat someone for himself personaly period with no other reason at all.
That's why this fight is so special and unique, both luffy and katakuri were no longer fighting for anything else but to surpass the other, and to me it deserves to be number one.

That’s why it’s GOAT 🐐 piece. Also the short big mom vs. Kaido is epic... Only one piece can make an old lady and a middle aged human/ beast man fight awesome.

Damn i always forget that 79 % of luffy's opponents are experienced and dangerous middle aged pirates , yet he still beat them .
After punk hazard all of Luffy's fight been top notch.
When he fought crocodile that was a hell of a fight. Took him 3 attempts just to beat him. Hell could argue it was luffys first real challenge since the anime started.

I just finished Arabasta with some knowledge of future arcs, and there is no arguement. It was his first real challenge, and this was the first major saga in terms of story, stakes and hints into something manipulating things behind the scenes.
Best part about Luffy vs Katakuri was
"I no longer think you are inferior to me"

That level of respect and acknowledgment mixed with sheer will power and determination on both sides of the battle & when they both used conquerors Haki 🔥🔥🔥
Dude even hilarious one is, that by the end of the fight both were talking through future sight. If you pay close attention both already do the expressions or reply before the other spoke.
My fav part is when they agree that the people on the sidelines are annoying and use haki to wipe them out.

I feel like all the signs are pointing to Teech being the final enemy. He was the catalyst behind the events that killed Luffy's brother, he killed the strongest pirate in the world and stole his powers(albeit he surely would've lost if Whitebeard were at full power), and he's gotten Shanks to acknowledge him as a major threat. Even the fact that he goes by the name Blackbeard hints at it somewheat. Not to mention that after Wano there won't be many other obstacles standing in Luffy's way
From 1999 - 2021, One Piece had reached so this far and it's so good.

Does he even have 10 great major fights? Mihawk, Arlong Park, Ryuma, Kaku, Mr 1, Pica, King, Monet are all the memorable ones I can think of. Maybe Kuma as well although it's short.

Vs Lucci will forever be my favorite Luffy's fight. The sheer weight of the battle, the desperation against powerful opponent, last but not least, the final invisible jet gatling, no other fight could top that final scene

I understand why Katakuri is number 1 but personally Luffy vs Rob Lucci is still my favorite. A ticking clock, extremely high stakes, great action, and that ending.... Man Luffy refusing to fall again until he wins and when he finally does win he literally can't move. Just showed how much heart he had. It was amazing

I feel like 1 and 2 should be swapped but I mostly agree.
The Strawhat's second encounter with Bartholomew Kuma was one of the most jaw dropping things I saw in the show. Bartholomew was just too good as a character
I still have the crocodile fight over Rob Lucci since Crocodile was just simply a much more menacing villain than Lucci was. The final Alabasta fight just had so much at stake. And the final orchestra at the end it just what made the Crocodile fight just edge slightly over Rob Lucci’s
honestly i have basically no complaints with this list this may one of if not the best/most accurate ive seen from watch mojo plus my number one fight was also the number one on this list so im very pleased
I totally agree with the ranking. Top 5 is just perfect! Lucci and Katakuri were really epic, so they truly deserve 2nd and 1st places respectively.

I like the Lucci fight because like most of the fights, Luffy had his ass handed to him for alot of it, but he had so much resolve to protect his friends and to get stronger for them. Definitely my favorite fight

It's just gotta be Luffy vs Lucci. That fight is iconic for the series. The first fighter to push luffy to the brink through sheer physical strength. You felt it when Luffy took those rokuogan, and the coreography was incredible throughout.
A Haki Lucci with 2 more years of growth could be a crazy good fight, hope we get a round 2 someday.

For me one of Luffy‘s best and possibly greatest fights is against Mingo heheheh The sheer insanity of it all plus we finally get to see gear four Bounceman . It is my favourite fight from Lucy because not only does he take down one of the best villains of one piece this time around the entire nation of Dressrosa know what he did and they still love him and helped him escape Fujitora and even got that admirals admiration . Another list would be cool is either the saddest moments in one piece or the best of sanji fights

It’s not a well known fight but I love Luffys fight vs Gasparde, the setting of it being on a sinking shit on the cusp of a sea storm with luffy having to use flour to defeat him is an appealing spectacle.
Crocodile deserved to be tons higher. Seeing him soar into the air after being hit through bedrock was such a feeling.
