25 metre long Transmission Poles to Ireland 1997

  • This video was originally made by Alasdair MacKenzie of Loch Carron when he worked with the Forestry Commission on a site at Portclair Forest where a stand of very large Douglas fir planted in the 1920s was thinned.
    The trees were felled and processed as a special order by Egger UK Timber Company local manager John Paterson for sale to Cashwood Poles Limited in Ireland for transmission poles for the electricity services. They were shipped by MV Celebrity from Corpach, near Fort William (note Ben Nevis in back ground), to Dundalk in southern Ireland.
