It most certainly was at least a national event...let alone a near catastrophic tragedy for 200k to be evacuated at the 11th hour! Sheriff Corey Honea deserved an award for his heroics in the humanitarian efforts, then repeated the same during the continual disastrous fires, especially Paradise! He didn't resign, as most do even in our DC administration, showing instrumental efforts toward the homeless population in Northern California. He is only now in his 50's and has my every admiration! Butte County is extremely fortunate to have a man of his quality. My granddaughter was the only child at a town meeting during the damn issue, he took time to personally recognize her excellent behavior all during the meeting. There was also a DWR representative who was very impressed with her questions at just 7 years old. He also took the interest in showing & explaining print outs to encourage her interest! Police Chief Dean also complimented her on her interest. But the Principal & Superintendent of GUSD decided she should be removed & placed into Special Education where her education was severely neglected having simply one hour a day of academics....someone please tell me this was "in the best interest of the child" with a mind as capable as shown & recognized by REAL professionals & compassionate adults????
People wonder why parents are removing their children from public schools...absolutely, she is presently homeschooled🤬
Jordan Reeves was fired & Chris McIntire retired, though Justin Kern (current Superintendent) recognizes the IMPORTANCE of a young developing mind & self esteem💫⭐

They're working on systems to use some of the overflow to recharge aquifers throughout Central Valley -- which is no small feat. That's where you want all this water is underground so that not so much is lost to evaporation. My guess is CA has one more decent wet season next winter during El Niño; after that it'll probably be back to drought, so the time is now to work on whatever system they want to put in place to recharge groundwater reservoirs.
