    Good and detail explaination as per HJ shah author. Consider some surcharge wt on top of Rwall and explain could be helpful.

    The slant face of the stem are to against the backfill portion..when the backfill height is above the top of wall..thus to withstand the surcharge load.

    Pa is active pressure at any height of wall, Fa is now the active pressure force, acting on the wall = 0.5Pah.

    I have a doubt. P= Ka*unit weight*height = unit KN/m^2
    And Pa= (1/2)*P*height= unit KN/m
    Then how is Pa*height÷3 = unit KNm?, isn't it KN?.

    There is calculation confusion or U mistake it
    Width of toe slab =1/3× b =1/3×3.35= 1.1166 so on
    But u determined it as 1/3×b=1/2×3.35=1.12=1.2 approx
    So plz give me solution as soon as possible bcz my exam on 2nd of may plz

    Your F.O.S against sliding is 211.13/300.31 = 0.70 which failed. You have used Pa NOT Fa in your calculation. Thank you
