    Assalamualaikum Aalia !
As a Senegalese hijabi girl who grew up in Italy I understand your culture shock. Many Senegalese girls wear the hijab very badly for them it is just a piece of fabric to cover their hair which they often don't fix or are ashamed of. Not all Senegalese men are bad husbands, there are good people too. Senegal is a secular democratic country, it is not an Islamic country, although the majority of the population is Muslim, therefore the state organization and laws are not based on religion, it is a tolerant country that does not impose the practice of Islam. However, encourages and looks favorably on those who practice Islam. there are no extremist religious fanatics who want to impose severe rules on women as unfortunately happens in many "Islamic states". I have been following you since your beginnings, I like you a lot, I think you are a sincere and pure soul. May Allah protect you and bless your marriage🤍🤍🤍.

I noticed no matter what culture you marry into😂 the women will always try to warn us, foreigners about their men. I get that they think it’s helpful or even just funny but everyone does not have good intentions with some of these remarks. Just because there is a stereotype of the behaviors of certain men doesn’t mean that will be everyone’s experience. Their experience as Senegalese women wont be the same as an American marrying a Senegalese man. Regardless, all the kiki and assumptions is just redundant! We need good energy onlyyyy

      Hi my love,
Thank you for your comment, and I agree 110%. As an African American woman, I had no contact with Senegalese men until I got married. Before that, all I mainly heard were negative remarks, which is why I'm very private about a lot of things. Thank you so much for this comment because I know I'm not crazy. GOOD VIBESS ONLYYYY

Asalamualaykum Aalia, I’m a knew follower and have been keeping up with your lovely channel for a month now. I stumbled upon your wedding video while I was in Egypt. I just want to say May Allah preserve you, protect you and grant your new family righteousness and Iman, and May Allah guide your family back in America to Islam. You’re a very beautiful and elegant woman.
Also you’re right about knowledges being very impactful and being something that we must implement when we learn about it. I love how aware you are about Islam Allahuma Barak it seems that Allah put Barak in your understanding of the religion because it’s only been a year.
I don’t want to go on for too long but I just want to maybe give some advice. As you already know life is very short and temporary and we are all working in the dunya to get to the akhira, there’s no need for you to explain anything to the viewers or to put too much time into content creating, I would highly recommend taking advantage of where you are (a Muslim country) and take your time in learning the religion further and strengthening your foundations because I know Senegal has good Islamic institutions or people of knowledge that can help you on your journey.
You mentioned that in the west life is very hustle hustle and competitive, Alhamdulillah you’re no longer in that environment and InshAllah you can now just focus more on strengthening your relationship with Allah and adjusting to a new country and ofc focus on being married and on other hobbies you have.
May Allah put Barak and protect your marriage, May he increase you in iman and Islam ame❤️🫶🏽.

      Wasalm Maha,
Thank you so much for your comment, ah, it was a huge sigh of relief. Alhamdulillah for the understanding of islam and grace Allah has given me. I do agree with you ! Ive actually been trying to find quranic/ arabic teachers since ive been here but its been a tad bit hard because alot of people dont speak english as their first language is french. Lastly, when it comes to content, Alhamdulillah this is my job, and my source of income so giving that up right now is out of questiion lolll. But dont worry im very present in my marriage and deen, content is easy. If you know of any teachers please let me know.
Ameen Ameen ya rabb, May Allah bless you for your kind words. ameen

Aalia, the women, and the children attend the masjid in the Ivory Coast. Unfortunately, some countries in West Africa prevent women and children from attending the masjid, which is regrettable.

You really hit it on the nail. I definitely felt out of place being in Senegal. I was told that it was a muslim country but seeing the way people dress and interact with each other. All the touching and flirting is a lot. And when you are the only one who sees it for what it is, which is haram - you fear being looked at as an extremist/party pooper. They are such sweet welcoming people but its awkward to interact with them, seeing them normalize sin when you KNOW they are muslim too. Like you can’t really connect with on a deeper level because we both practice islam but this person has zero intentions on improving for the sake of Allah simply because they were raised doing these things.
Im glad you spoke on it. I know a lot of people will take offense but something has to be said. Its honestly one of the reasons why im stuck on if i want to raise my children in Senegal.

I also want to say that being modest is also about blending in so if wearing an all black burqa will make you stand out some scholars think it’s best to wear something else. Islam is about intention. Everyone is on their own journey and the most important is to have a good heart and always try to educate yourself. Make space for culture.

In many African countries what you consider hijab is cultural. Even in arab/south East Asian countries people confuse culture and religion. Many people you see with a hijab that are also showing their chest like you said usually do it out of habit and don’t understand the Islamic implications of hijab. I understand your point of view but I wanted to give perspective.

I think your expectations stem from the fact that you think Senegal is a Muslim country - it’s not. Majority of the population is Muslim, but culture occupies a big part. A lot of women do go to the masjid, you definitely wouldn’t be the only woman in the masjid.
I’d also suggest if you live in Dakar that you explore other places. You’ll get a wider range of produce options in other stores, or even at the market.

HII, Senegal is 96% muslim so technically its a muslim country and like many other muslim countries there are families who are not muslim. Youll never hear the adthan being called in the USA, meanwhile its called here. 2nd, Alot of older women go to the masjids. Many tourist attend the bigger and newer masjids. Lastly, my husbands family has made sure to take me around dakar to find many things that I want but unfortunetly theyre either not here or not at American quality. i also have senegalese friends that i confide in as well for clarification. Thank you though for your comment but I didnt come here with expecations at all and while my video states that, no one country is the same as another.

@@Aaliareeves I’m sorry but 96% Muslim doesn’t mean Muslim country. The laws etc. are not based on religion, it’s a secular republic and that has an impact on how people practice Islam. And like I mentioned culture prevails (I’m not saying it’s right). If you take more time you’ll see, but never forget to mention it’s from your standpoint.

Senegal IS a muslim country 😂there's a hadith that says we have the right to go to the mosque but praying at home is better for us, we apply it real good because women do not be going to the mosque in this country let's be honest now, except for ramadan during 'nafila' you would not find no women there on fridays or any other day, you might find some but the majority of women do not be going

I believe your perspective on Senegal is somewhat skewed. For instance, in my neighborhood, women regularly attend the mosque. There’s actually a group of Muslim women that hosts events for other Muslim women and engages in various activities. Etc. Plus, Senegal isn’t solely a Muslim country. I hope that, over time, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Senegal and its diverse viewpoints. In sha Allah.

I for sure know that you didnt watch the entire video. Ive stated multiple times in my video that " many senegalese or gambian people will disagree with what i say since i can only speak from what ive experienced with my husbands family. So, no my perspective isnt skewed nor is it negative, its my reality. Senegal has a 96% muslim population and thats the majority. Thank you for your comment though.

@@Aaliareeves begin by saying astagfirouLlah, because I have watched until the last second. Don’t expect us not to say anything about your comments knowing that they are biased. We are Senegalese, we have been living here 90% of our lives, so I think we know better about our country than you. You talking about hijab, are you wearing it properly? Talking sexy hijab, haven’t you been wearing tight clothes? Free wixing? Have you not been to the cinema where both men and women were sitting in the same room? Stop being judgmental and act with sincere respect, as the good Muslim that you claim to be. You can give dawa without being mean, and without hurting people because you are not perfect as well. You are welcomed.

She said the same thing about the fitted clothes, the skin showing, the excessive beautification etc. I've seen a hijabi with a crop top with my own eyes in the streets of dakar.
