From one lefty to the others... You should already know that being a lefty and living in a right handed world has it's disadvantages but also a really big advantage when it comes to learning guitar and here's a little trick that can be a real help to beginners (like myself). This works only for videos where the instructor is right handed. Place a mirror on the top of the table next to your monitor and position it so that you can see your right hand when it's on the guitar neck. Now when you look in the mirror... the chord on the video will look exactly like the reflection of your hand in the mirror. Works only for lefties :)
+Anisa Miah yepp me all the way. im a right hander, but I paly guitar left handed, I dribble a basketball left handed, and im dominant on piano with my left hand.. people call me weird bc I play left handed and upside down, but idk what to do. Help me?
+Anisa Miah I'm the same. I'm mostly right handed, but every time I hold a guitar that way, it feels like I'm wrestling with it. I'm a pure beginner, so it's really frustrating because there's not a lot of material to try to learn from - thank goodness for this video. On top of it, there aren't many options for left handed resonator guitars, as I'd like to eventually have one. Ugh.
+Nowhere Man wow its been years since this comment. but anyways. i feel ur pain man. but im playing with a right handed guitar. the place im living now doesnt have left handed guitars so ive been struggling for awhile. but i got the hang of it now. just have problems switching between different notes fast enough to keep up with songs because its my left hand that im switching notes. bu my right hand got used to strumming. just takes some practice.

Lefties can learn from right-handed guitar videos a lot easier than anybody else can because it's like looking in a mirror. I've been playing lefty for almost 20 years and never regretted it. I'm no ridiculously good guitarist but I picked the instrument up to fill in the background of my vocals so I've always been plenty happy being a rhythm player more than an all-out guru/mastery type.
You are an excellent teacher. I love how you explain the details so thoroughly and so simply. Thank you sooo much for teaching me the basics. I’m a lefty. I've wanted to know for so long to play the guitar but I have had troubles with it since I am ambidextrous but should I play 'air guitar' (lol) I am a lefty. Lefties rock!!!! I think this may be my go to page. I also have a set of Roland e-drums. Been a drummer most of my life. I have the TD-12s. Which are yours? 58 nearly now and just beginning to seriously learn to play. Should my fingertips be numb starting out and will they always be like this? I knew callouses were to be expected but what about the numbness?
Great video! I learned but I have a question. Is there anyway to disable the words playing across the video? When you are showing different things about placement of the fingers, you can't really see your fingers to good. This was a "great" beginner video for a left handed guitar player. Thanks!
I have a question for you regarding playing left handed. My husband and I are both learning on the same guitar (a right handed guitar), but I had an injury to my left ring finger and it bends incorrectly and have to learn on my left hand. Interesting! However, I don't play left. I just flipped the video for my lefty students. But then they said they actually like the mirror image of a righty player.

Hi! I played right-handed guitar with my left hand. The thickest E string is facing towards the floor and the thinnest E string is facing towards me. Does this sound right? Thank you for answering my question;)
I am really struggling to decide what hand to play with, I am a lefty but I'm ambidextrous in some areas like most of us have to be. I played right handed for a year or so in my teens and have just bought my first lefty almost 10 years later. I can still play a few songs and chords on my old guitar but i'm hopeless with my new lefty. should I keep going with the lefty or go back to the righty that I started with?
I love your video. Please can you tell me if you teach only on a Left handed guitar? Is your method valid still for when I play a reversed R-hand guitar? Thank you in advance.
@@yourguitarsage It gives me hopes as I cannot do a thing using a righthand guittar with my righty. Thank you so much, i am very curious to check it out! Blessings!
Muhd Haziq Do yourself a big favor and switch to left handed guitar. Your right hand will never be able to be good enough on a right handed guitar. Keep in mind that it will be very difficult and frustrating and uncomfortable for a while, but don't give up and once your brain will adjust to the change, you will fill a life changing in the ability to play guitar. Im talking from experience of playing right handed guitar as a lefty for years and my right hand could never compare to my left hand, no matter how much I practiced and I did practice a lot. Now after few years of playing left handed guitar it fills like "home" and im really advancing fast. in my opinion, every lefty should play only a left handed guitar, otherwise - big mistake. Good luck.
so i had a stroke and dont have good control with my left hand so i have to turn the guitar around so my right hand is on the frets and my left hand just strums the string, but it reverses the orientation of the strings, would i have to restring my guitar?
I hurt my left hand pretty bad but still have the ability to strum or play some things on a guitar I was heartbroken when it happened not for playing but the mobility and not having a disadvantage ...its been almost 4 years now and yesterday which it is August the August 15,2018 I just thought I could try to play left handed I haven't tried yet because I don't own any more guitars but I like some of the suggestions I hope I'll be able to at least try and see if I'm capable if not I'll take up drums lol
im a left with a right handed guitar....how should i learn the guitar now? like should i play like a right handed person does or like a left handed person does?
Hey... Thank you for this simple straight video.M hoping a lil advice from you being a complete beginner. Basically m lefty for every single task, but my tutor forced me to learn wid right. I feel I might do good wid left instead right. Would u please help wid? Should I switch to left hand technique?

The gutair I'm looking at says it has; Top: Linden LaminateBack: Linden Laminate Sides: Linden LaminateBinding: FrontNeck: Maple Fingerboard: RosewoodBridge: Mahogany Scale: 650mm Frets: 20 Tuners: Chrome, fully enclosed Is this any good for £55?
I'm left handed and trying to learn tho i can play my drums pretty good but i use "Every Angel Does Good By Evening" to try to learn the strings but very confusing the first string is on the bottom but you "read" them from the "top" low E string.
I play left on a right handed guitar cuz that's what I have, but I reversed the strings. No problem. All my chord shapes are the same as a righty would do.
I am left hand domint but I have been teaching myself to play right handed on a acqstick I am missing my index finger on my left hand. My beautiful wife is buying me a left hand elctric for my birthday do you know of anyone that plays guitar with both hands or do you think it will be to confusing to learn.
...Huh. you know, before today I didn't know there were left handed guitars. I first started learning guitar in my mid teens but never got particularly good. Dropped it for over a decade and started playing earlier this year. Still not good but I'm getting better at basic tunes with a lot of practice. I've always been taught to play it right handed and that might be partially why I struggle a bit with it. I'm honestly not sure if I could play left handed at this point.
my dad has a guitar but it's a right hand guitar and I'm a lefty , i dtarted out trying to play it the right hand way but i got confused so i tried to play it the left hand way and still as confusing should i keep doing it the right handed way or left handed way ? i'm sorry if this comment is confusing
I'm right handed playing left handed guitar. Tried right handed so many times and you'd think it would be second nature but it feels so awkward. Left handed feels correct. I don't know why it's called right handed when we they fret with the left hand. That's really hard for a right handed person to do. How does a right handed person play with their left hand on the frets???? How are they all doing this? Do you think I should switch to right handed?
Whether you’re playing left-handed or right handed, it’s all awkward at first. The only thing that makes it not awkward is practice. It depends on the individual and their mindset, but I suggest playing right handed because lefty guitars are harder to come by.

yes but it will be harder because once you have been playing a certain amount of time it will feel different going the other way
Muhd Haziq Do yourself a big favor and switch to left handed guitar.
If I was to put my guitar string on backwards would it allow me to play like a left handed guitar?
No, the nut at the headstock is cut specifically. You would have to have that recut to be correct.
thanks
+GuitarAndTrumpetMan47 no problem my friend!
I had one of my hands bitten by a Rottweiler. 40 stitches and many months later I was playing again. Those times are not fun.
im a left with a right handed guitar....how should i learn the guitar now? like should i play like a right handed person does or like a left handed person does?
Hey... Thank you for this simple straight video.M hoping a lil advice from you being a complete beginner. Basically m lefty for every single task, but my tutor forced me to learn wid right. What does it mean when a guitar has Tuners: Chrome, fully enclosed.
The gutair I'm looking at says it has;
Top: Linden LaminateBack: Linden Laminate
Sides: Linden LaminateBinding:
FrontNeck: Maple
Fingerboard: RosewoodBridge: Mahogany
Scale: 650mm
Frets: 20
Tuners: Chrome, fully enclosed
Is this any good for £55?
That means they're made of chrome and they're fully enclosed as in the inner workings and gears are not exposed to the elements. That's a good thing.
I bought a right handed guitar, but am left handed how can I play it. Please advise thanks
Great video really i like it.
can I play left handed on a right handed guitar?
You'd flip it over so you are strumming with your left hand. people do this and develop some interesting and unique ways of strumming.

Awkward 2 seconds of silence..

I opened the website and joined it and it was all for right handed people.. can anyone help me where to find lessons for a lefty.

Wahoo! Start here my friend: www.yourguitarsage.com/30
Is it OK to play a right-handed-guitar left-handed without changing the string order? (with the E 6th string on the left)
It has been done. It’s possible.
when you first start out playing. is it better to use a pick or your fingers? does it matter?
I recommend using a pick, but make sure you start with my free beginner course: YourGuitarSage.com/30
This is a very good lesson for me and thank's very much😊😊😊
YOU'RE A BLESSING!♥️♥️😇
Are you a lefty? I've seen your other videos playing right handed.
Righty!
But my guitar has cords arranged. So my top cord is the thinnest which makes it difficult. Can we rearrange the cords?
No, not without changing the nut. Have a professional do it.👍
