Great tips there Uncle Knackers, as a girl who is fairly handy with power tools I do have a circular saw in my kit, bit I feel a bit intimidated by it and havent really used it yet.I must start using some of your hints and building up my confidence with it.
Thanks Catey.....glad you like the tips 👍 If you are interested l do have a Masterclass that you can take that will help build up your confidence and you also get some great bonuses with it. No pressure but you can check it out here. Cheers 👍😁🇦🇺 bit.ly/3omII1I
Great tips as always mate, especially the 45° bevel guide on the saw, I've been a carpenter for 5 years and no one ever taught me that. Also I love a good dad joke, so heres mine: A friend asked me why I called my dog rolex? I told him its because he's a watchdog. 😂
😂😂....Not to bad Vic....l picked up 20 shots in one hole!! Thinks are looking pretty good in the golf department 😂 Hope you've had a productive Saturday mate 👍😁🇦🇺
Great tips - especially for preventing kickback, which is no joke. Learned from my mistakes. Nice bonus tip. I generally use a foam board so it supports the waste entirely to prevent any issues.
Thanks Shane, another great video. I’m still proud of the “DIY for Knuckleheads” sign I sent you. It still looks as good as the day I sent it. Cheers Jon
Jon....l love it mate! I try and feature it in every video l make 👍👍👍👍 Everyone who comes into my workshop has to touch it 😂 Hope you're having a great weekend 👍🇦🇺😁
Hi Shane, Really enjoy your instructions but learned a long time back that in order to make any of them work I have to turn everything upside down. Joe in USA
@@diyforknuckleheads Thank you for actually spelling my name correctly. Not many do. Also I appreciate the tips when using a circular saw. They're really helpful.
Good training video U.K's .Dont know if you use concrete / demolition saws or chainsaws but they are different beasts that arent supported a lot unless using a trolley . If cutting and moving the saw too fast they can ride over the cut and make you lose balance . Like almost happened to me . Chainsaws can flick back if cutting with tip of the bar if dont know right way to use it . They all need training from experienced saw users like you or a concreter or wood cutter .
Hi Shane - best woodworking channel on TH-cam! Can you provide a link or an industry standard name for the foam board you showed in the video and how do you prevent the sawblade from cutting into it - or does it not matter? Cheers mate.
👍 😁Cheers mate....really appreciate the comment 👍 In regard to the foam board, most hardware stores will supply it and when l say foam, it's more of a solid form of foam or polystyrene. It's a hard foam/polystyrene board and is mainly used for insulation purposes. Unfortunately l don't have the specific name of the one that l use. Good luck with it. Cheers 👍
Great video, Shane! Here's a freebie: Why do golfers always carry a spare pair of trousers with them? In case they get a hole in one! (I'm walking slowly out of the scene like you do.) Cheers, Scotty in Norway.

I have had the same circular saw for many years. Time to get a new one. I've noticed the traditional kind, but have also noticed what I thought was a left handed saw. I know they aren't necessarily for lefties, but some cut from the opposite side now. Any interest in making a video going over this? Am I missing out using the "old" type of saw?
Mate, l'm a left hander and have been using a right handed saw all my working life without any trouble so haven't really needed to go down the left handed saw route. Having said that, l think it would be good to have a go at using one to see the difference. Cheers 👍
Hi Shane What's the clamp-rail you use to guide your circular saw? I've been struggling to find one in the UK and any help would be appreciated. Cheers

The SS1000 looks the 'dog's bo$$ocks' and a smidge safer than using a rafter square. Of all the power tools in the shed, the circular saw is the one that I take the most care with for all the reasons you outline in this video. Great tips Shane, thanks very much.

So what would happen to your cut if you set the blade at 45 but use the 0 instead of the 45 on the foot?
If you set the blade to 45 and use the 0 you won't cut on the line 👍

Why does a T-square always give a different line on the opposite side of a plank etc? Even though the said plank measures the same width throughout…
