After months of planning, Otto and I started our End-to-End thruhike a few days ago at Dunnet Head, the most northerly point of mainland Britain.
Come follow our three travel days on the train to get to the north of Scotland (including some very mixed feelings ;-)).
I’m planning to upload regular videos (though probably not always on the exact same day every week). Please subscribe if you want to stay up to date :)
On our hike we’ll try to raise funds for the Green Forest Fund and the WWF. Feel free to support our charity: www.betterplac...
If you want to support our adventure and fuel our hike with coffee for me and treats for Otto: ko-fi.com/elli...
Thank you so much!
Happy hiking,
Elli and Otto
I am looking forward to watching this adventure series. I have done JoGLE and LeJoG on a bike and just loved it.
Just found your channel on Utube. love it, going to watch your Jogle… you are amazing and so adventu. Living life at its best. 😊
Aww, thank you so much for following along. That means a lot!
Hats off for taking your dog Elli. I imagine you've factored in the feed and extra weight. Good company though. All the best with the trek. You should be down my way near Hereford in a few months. All the best. Mark
Thank you so much! Yes, it adds a bit of weight, but that's more than ok, if I can have him with me 😊🥰
@@ellihikes Good on you. It'll get you strong. And yeah, he's a lovely little dog.
You GO girl!! :)
Yay! On on. I bought myself a small hot water bottle and it was great at night and used it lots. Have lots of fun Elli and Otto. To use the Spanish phrase "Buen Camino". x
Thank you so much, Rique :)
I wish you both best of luck 😀
Thank you so much 🤗
Loving the honesty in your videos 👍👍
Thank you so much!!
@@ellihikes looking forward to the next one 👍👍
Just found you on TH-cam. Now binge watching your series. Two great friends making great memories, love it. What a lovely dog Otto is. Just love to know how you put up with all the boggy sections, they would absolutely do my head in. Brilliant series and love your smile. Best of luck.
Aww, thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you found your way to the channel :) The boggy sections were hard in the beginning, not going to lie! But the more I got used to them, the easier it got for me I feel like..... It helped me to accept that my feet just will get wet and not to worry too much about that. And I got better at spotting the "good grass" (the types of grass/vegetation that is more "firm"), where you can step onto and not sink in that much 😂
Your English, speaking and writing is so good. I'm impressed. I live in Bude Cornwall, wish I knew you were passing on your swcp section, I would have bought you lunch. Cheers.
Hi Elli and Otto, really enjoying following your adventures. I’ve subscribed I completely get your feelings of doubt and loss when leaving loved ones to go on a long hike. Having Otto with you will be a big help though as we all know there’s no love like a dogs love.
Happy trails.
Very true 🥰😊 thank you for the encouragement :)
I decided to start your England hike and your honesty is very refreshing.
Aww, thank you so much for following our adventure! I really appreciate the feedback and kind words 🥰😊
I hope everything goes well for you. I'm in Cornwall so by the time you get close to where I am you will be nearly finished. Don't forget to enjoy yourself as you go. And the weather usually improves from May onwards.
Thank you so much :) yes, it really seems to slowly warm up 🥰
Have a great time! The natives are friendly, except the midges and the ticks...
Had some tick encounters already….. one day with more than 5 degrees and they seem to be everywhere ://
@@ellihikes Oh dear! It does seem a bit early for them, bad luck. Try keeping your trousers tucked into your socks, if you aren't already doing that.
Been on my todo list for a while. Stumble across your videos by accident whilst researching and here i go to start watching from the beginning to binge watch.
Do you have a website with any detail....gpx, camp locations etc. 😄
Thank you so much for checking out our adventure, I hope the videos can help you a bit when it comes to planning etc.... I have made a little guide with information on campsites, resupply, route options etc. that you can download here: buymeacoffee.com/ellihikes/e/223632 (it also includes the gpx files for the entire hike)
thankyou ever so muchElli.
8:22 hasn't Otto understood this camera setup lark yet ? 😂❤ (what must he think?! he should set up a YT channel)
Were the seats OK from London to Edinburgh - lots of complaints about them being too hard
iirc Edinburgh to Inverness takes about the same time as London to Edinburgh, four times the distance.
Hahahaha, yes would be so funny to see and hear everything from Otto's perspective 😅 I actually liked the train from London to Edinburgh a lot. Found the journey very comfortable, nothing to complain for me. In my case, Edinburgh to Inverness was quite quick (3.5h) but then another 4h form Inverness to Thurso which felt reaaaally long 😬
💜
What is JoGle?😬☺
It's short for John o'Groats to Land's End, the journey (on foot in our case, but can also be by bike or other means of transport) across Britain from the north-westernmost point to the south-easternmost point :)
It took me a while to suss that out.
Why don't you pull your stuff behind you in a trolley instead of carrying a heavy backpack?
I don't want to be restricted to only use paths/trails where I could use a trolley. Since I'm not carrying that much (8.8kg base weight), that's totally fine and I can hike everywhere.... The route I'm hiking now through the Highlands would not be possible at all with a trolley, same for a lot of other trails where there are rocks, steps, bogs, etc...
