As another Old Head (61) I agree on your comments about how we DO know how to have a good time. And Pete and Bas have been a source of joy for me for a few years now. I think you hit it when you pointed out one of the reasons they are so entertaining that they exude authenticity. They don’t seem to be trying to be young or something they’re not. No idea if the rumors of their past “activities” are real or not. Regardless they make me believe it in their songs. Such talent. And they are independent. Just their nephews/grandsons as their producers (Nine One Shots and Handsome Dexter) and themselves. Good on them. For two guys in their 70s, they’re killing it. BTW the Northern boys are a group of other Old Heads. Much of their songs are funny but they also have some pretty hard and dark stuff as well. They had their start on Pete Bas’s Window frame Cypher.

From an old head original hop fan appreciate the react. 🔥 Check out the first one I heard 'Mr World Wide' a couple of years back around the time of 'A Quick 1-2' to do as well. You got it right - Bas like jazz. Whirlybird is a beast. Most on the album have videos worth reacting as well. So where do you think they from? 😁

Pete and Bas put out open mic challenges on YT shorts and such for some of their songs...T Pain gave them their track that way as far as the masses know.
Love how you were like , “they are going at their pace and doing their thing and not trying to do like these fast rappers…” and that was 2 songs before Whirlybird and I knew what was coming and was cracking up.

Their grandsons also rap. See Nine and Dex: Pecan Pie video.
Thanks for your comment! I think it's important to let the whole song play and then talk about it after it's done. I also add chapters where people can go from tract to track. I think it messes up the flow with starred rewind stop you know it kills the flow to me.
In their videos they definitely play up the humorous aspect of it but it works great! Check out the "Plugged In With Fumez The Engineer" and "Sindhu Sesh"
Once you get the British accent and slang terms down, you'll love it even more! Bish Bash Bosh is a term they use to mean completing a job quickly and efficiently. ;)

@@ThoughtsIn78 I can't be sure about the exact beginnings of Pete and Bas' rap career. But I suspect that Nine and Dex were looking for a couple of older gents to rap over their beats and Bas got involved that way. But whatever the beginnings it doesn't matter, both Pete and Bas take their art deadly serious now. Here's a quote from Bas' company website: "Basil qualified as a Notary Public of England and Wales in 1983 and founded our company. He was also a solicitor for many years, running a successful firm in south London. Now semi-retired and pursuing a love of music" It was never about money for Bas. Nine and Dex aka 91 Shots and Handsome Dexter, were also behind "America's answer to Pete and Bas": Frank and Maury
You will see some videos with a bunch of guys. And even one woman rapping. Those are the northern boys. I don't know the woman's name. But they are in the last track.
Right on! I recently checked out some of their live performances and I can see where when I have to keep up with the speed of the song tends to struggle a little bit. But it's them rapping that's all that matters.
Yes.... they about that life! Bas is a jazz guy that plays multiple instruments and also was a participant in his family's illegal bare-knuckle boxing ring. Pete.... he is exactly what he seems to be, a boss!
You gotta think about it.... these guys were running the streets of south London (Kray and I think Richardson gangs?) in the 60's and 70's! They're talented enough to be reading us their diaries and they are great storytellers!
Their grandsons are artists in their own right and produce... at the start of the songs you hear NINE..... ONE (91Shots) and OMLETTE DU FROMMAGE (Handsome Dexter).
It's true and Bas being a multi-instrumentalist, but less so the rest I'm afraid. Basil is a semi-retired Notary and Solicitor (ie lawyer). I'm not sure about Pete's background though.
The rymne schemes these gents drop remind me a lot of Ludacris. Obviously they don't sound alike but like Ludacris, they have masterful double entandra, they spit gun and drug bars that are definitely exaggerated from whatever their actual life experiences are and they drop celebritiy's names left and right for compassions.
@@timbertime7823 phenomenal analysis of their style. Of course their lyrics isn't talking about their live style. They're just trying to fit that mafioso style.
My favorite P&B tracks not on this album that you should definitely check out are Quick 1-2, Sindhu Sesh, Gangster Sh!t and Plugged In Feat. Fumez the Engineer.

@wibblewobble75 make sense! The two young guys using these older gentlemen to make money. Write and produce their music.
Listen to "plugged in" and "sindu sesh"❤
Bish Bash Bosh. Is my fav track from them 😉
You will see some videos with a bunch of guys. And even one woman rapping. Those are the northern boys. I don't know the woman's name. But they are in the last track.
For a 2024 rap album it's really consistent, more songs are 7-8/10s than aren't
Right on! I recently checked out some of their live performances and I can see where when I have to keep up with the speed of the song tends to struggle a little bit. But it's them rapping that's all that matters.
The album a bop❤
Deep voiced one is Bas, raspy one is Pete
Uncle Earl told me to subscribe.
Lol! Indeed thanks!
#NORMANPAIN - #PKJ = 🔥 🔥
You ain't talking too much. Bas Rutten is the man! ✋🏼
You have to see videos with the captions read what they're spitting 🤯
Locksmith- signs
Their grandkids produce their music, Nine & Dex check them out as well. Some of their songs: pecan pie, Jesus piece, ignorant shit
Jesus piece is a great track
🔥🇬🇧
music is def in 1.25x speed
Their lyrics have a lot more meaning than just what they're saying. You have to go deep into UK rap to understand everything they're saying.
Norman pain is throwed off for real.
Yes.... they about that life!
Pete's got some cRAzY musical background and in Goodfella he references Prodigy's FIRESTARTER (go watch that vid if you're not familiar)
It's true and Bas being a multi-instrumentalist, but less so the rest I'm afraid. Basil is a semi-retired Notary and Solicitor (ie lawyer). I'm not sure about Pete's background though.
@@gailrasberry5882 And that's part of the story they tell.
@@timbertime7823 OK! I'll definitely check those tracks out.
Some of their songs they are using the $10,000 microphone.
91 shots and Fumez the engineer.
