@@crkhane I think there's a pattern they hear that guides them to the cord progression of the song, it's like that one video i saw where someone listened to a part of the chorus for through the fire and flames and guessed cover the rest (of the chorus) and got it right

I want to note something - the song originally does NOT have a live drummer in the composition - it’s machine drums added by Arte Refact. Essentially, The8BitDrummer made a amazing drum composition for the song on the fly, on his first listen.

When i see Jerod do these covers.... it really feels like he's playing a music rhythm game with no incoming notes and he still aces them.
He follows the time signatures and listens for lead-ins, rests, rises and falls. After playing music for a while you get used to doing this automatically, but things like the transition he mentioned are really hard to sightread if you aren't expecting it so I'm really impressed it didn't throw him off.
Chris Heidke it’s still an pretty cool skill though.
Suichan's songs have very unorthodox beats and transitions, it's acceptable that even the best drummers get thrown off hearing the song for 1st time
