Basically those factory rubber parts last SO LONG.... people replace crap they don't even need to ...factory rubber is usually some great stuff in my experience ...btw a vacuum petcock will NOT prevent unwanted fuel when the engine is running ...the vacuum holds it wide open so it does not stop until engine is shut off....making it manual does mean you have to shut it off after riding in case float valve leaks. But heck I turned it off even when it was still a vacuum petcock ...the ONLY nice thing about the vac is if you crash your bike so long as the motor stops the gas will stop drooling out. That is a plus for the vac ...but the BAD thing about the vac is IF you need to give a buddy some fuel ....GOOD LUCK if you have a vac petcock! Youd have to take a hose and connect to the vac inlet on petcock and SUCK to open the petcock ...And me? I HATE the idea of sucking a petcock or any other kind!
Watching you reminded me what I think I did ...ALL I must of done is to make a gasket and remove the diaphragm part ...then block the vac port ....I think that is all I did...had to have made a gasket I recon...or else cut the diaphragm out and put what was left back together? It was a LONG time ago

Liked your truck vid too, so hope to see more. Unfortunately my dirt bike is a TW200 (for my old man style of riding) , but still like your list of mods.😎 Tx4v
Thanks for the positive encouragement. I sold the KLR. I wanted something lighter and more off-road oriented. The Honda CRF450L is a great bike. It fits my riding perfectly.
So here's a weird problem. On my petcock, the metal tube that goes out and down and connects to the fuel line (the one that would not be plugged if I was using a non-vacuum petcock)... that metal tube came out of the petcock. I don't think it was supposed to do that, right? Can I just reseal this?
No, I don’t think that should come out. I would think you could seal it back in as long as whatever you use is resistant to fuel. I’d have to do some googling but I bet there is a product out there that would work.

What happened if i take off the tube longer and only use the tube short
