@@joshentertainment2 yes if you watch the lyric video of marjorie there are man newspaper clips of her grandmother who was famous in her own right unfortunately she died a year before taylor's career truly started which is very sad to think about
She’s always been an incredible songwriter. A cardinal rule with Taylor Swift is to never form judgements on her based on her singles. Ever. Please React to RED and Speak Now please!!!!
I can't believe she wrote so many songs of this calibre in like, 9 months. How?! And some of them among the best of her career! There are so many over the two that are just knockouts. I love the feelings these two albums give me. They really create a specific mood and I'm here for it. It's not how I react to her pop stuff and I'm glad we get it all! I think evermore will inevitably be compared to folklore because they came out so close together, but it's wild how they both stand up as individually sound projects. The sort of writing she is doing here is in line with what she's always done, but obviously she's matured as a songwriter over the years. But you can see it taking shape in the early stuff and it's interesting!
Another great thing is that her fans always encourage her to reinvent herself if she's inspired by a concept. They were always there for her even when she stopped making new album for 3 years because of the 2016 witch hunt.
yeah she was always gifted in the poetry and songwriting area and she’s only getting better and better. i think she won a national poetry competition when she was in 4th grade

For some reason the dance Diana performed for Charles stands out most because he just "tolerates it" ugh I really want a behind the scenes of these songs
I thought it was an ode to her 19 year old self & to a then 32 yr old John Mayer. They too dated and had a huge age gap like Princess Di and Prince Charles.
I love how in “happiness”, she made a reference to the great gatsby with the quote “I hope she’ll be a beautiful fool” which was said by daisy about her daughter because she thought that’s what it takes to be “happy”

The piano in Exile, Champagne problems, Coney Island and Evermore is Joe, her boyfriend and that's soo beautiful and those are some of the best songs in the two albums
4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
@@eltelw8209 Thanks for the comment, I was always interested in knowing more about Joe as a person and just occasionally hearing him out more about his art and his life in general, and unfortunately the fact that Taylor's relationships always get dissected on the pubblic square made her decide to shelter him and their relationship much more than in the past, which I completely respect and understand because frankly I don't think she's ever been consistently happy for this long and I really think she deserved that as much as Joe deserves to have his privacy from all the tabloids. Also I think that is a key factor of the chemistry they've shown both in their relationship and in their collaboration on these two albums, as Taylor said in her documentary "I also was falling in love with someone who had a really wonderfully normal, balanced, grounded life." That's the type of life that she was looking for, also that's more genuine and intimate than she got the chance to experience before. But then again it's also a kind of shame that Joe's character and his obvious and multifaceted talent for the arts isn't more renowned. Personally just by reading the lyrics Taylor writes about him I think he really is something out of the ordinary, exactly like she is.
Respect for being so honest and open on camera. That’s the reason I watch and have been watching for a few years now. Keep up the good work in 2021, Jon 👊🏻

Yes true, it takes a few listens to realize that it's absolutely a stunning masterpiece! I also enjoy it better than folklore; evermore is probably my second or third favourite album from 2020 (#1 is Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers, which is another deeply ethereal and enchanting album)
I absolutley loved hearing your thoughts and comments on this album and human that I adore so much. Thank you for reviewing this album and sharing your emotion drawn from it! I don't even recall how I found this video today but that's a follow for me and I look forward to your thoughts about other albums, maybe I will find some new music!
You should listen to her Grammy Museum acoustic performances to some of her bigger songs from 1989. She not only explains where they come from but the acoustic approach and her voice is fabulous. Lastly you should watch folklore:Long Pond Studio sessions. Watching them together singing it ‘live’ and again talk about what’s behind the songs and how they can about.
Some things you should know Marjorie was an Opera singer (and TS's grandmother) and her voice has been used as the background vocals of the song towards the end Piano in evermore was by her boyfriend Joe who also helped with the lyrics
Thank you so much for this. I will be joining your Patrion so I can see it uncut. Your reactions help me explore the emotions I actively held back when first listening to the album myself.
loved your comment on the Champagne Problems chord progression. It's in my top 3 on this album (changes constantly, i can't decide) and i immediately recognized the chord progression because she used it for All Too Well (from the RED album), which was widely recognized as her magnum opus before folklore came out. Those four chords are dangerous in her hands, she's too good at heartbreak ballads. not sure if you've reacted to RED already but i would love a reaction to All Too Well at least, it's a renowned classic in the taylor swift cinematic universe
@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos that may be true, but 1989 has This Love, Clean or You're in Love, songs that I think he would like for sure. He said in the folklore reaction that he enjoyed Shake It Off too, so... also, I can see him liking Blank Space for instance. A reaction to that album would be super interesting tbh. Hopefully he does it at some point
Great reaction. I think you should check out her some of old albums. She has great songwriting in all of the albums. But I think RED is critically acclaimed same as folklore. I would be great of you'd check her older stuff
To all, if you still don't know or just amazed how did Taylor write these beautiful songs all of a sudden, you clearly haven't listened to her old albums. Her country albums FEARLESS and SPEAK NOW, which she wrote at the age of 17 and 19 (SN is entirely self-written after critics complained that she didn't write her songs, only their co-writers did) showcases her talent at songwriting and storytelling, which set her apart from other growing artists at the time, earned her praise and 7 out of 10 Grammys came from there too. RED made her place at the top as it was considered as a lyrical masterpiece of taylor (now folklore and evermore joined the chat). after her pop crossover, ofc she can't write the same kind of lyrics, but they still have SIMILAR GREAT SONGS, which never became singles. She is one of the greatest songwriters of our generation. Thanks for coming to my taylor swift's songwriting appreciation talk... btw, her guitar playing skills are criminally underrated!
@@bondebon not really.. if you know bon iver music, he really sing in this kind of range and it’s more climatic when they exchange the words until the tension ease when taylor added the line “you were there”.. I say that it is better than exile sonically and in tone

Folklore being my second favorite album of the year I was so happy and very excited for another Taylor Swift project. Didn't expect it so soon though lol. But it's fantastic.
Aaron and Bryce Dessner both participated in her re-records on Fearless and Red for her From The Vault songs they produced. Jack produced some of the Vault songs too. What is great about those songs is she isn’t beholden to recreate them as the other songs that were on the original albums so they are richer, more mature in delivery than the ones she is redoing. Worth the time to check them out.
Just a remider of albums that I think you would love to listen: Punisher - Phoebe Bridges Titanic Rising - Weyes Blood Honestly all discography by HAIM Lemonade - Beyoncé Joanne - Lady Gaga ♡
I loved your folklore reaction so I was really looking forward to this one! I would love you to react to some of her earlier stuff, especially Speak Now and Red, her songwriting has always been something special. Love watching your reactions
Phoebe Bridgers is a MUST-DO before the year end Jon! You will adore it! Love this album and reaction too, you continue to be the hardest working channel in the game!
You should really watch her NPR tiny desk concert. You can really see her genius songwriting and musicallity. She's always this good, but the production of her songs doesn't always show that. Just like what you said about pop songs.
Thank you for this! Truly, you make me feel like I'm listening to these song for the first time again. Hope you do the two extra tracks once the deluxe album drops. Maybe include the lakes from fokelore as well??
I cannot express how much better this album gets over time, it really grew on me over the past week. There are many songs I thought nothing of, that I now absolutely love. This is coming from someone who only really thought that Willow was the only amazing song on the album, followed by tis the damn season and no body, no crime. Now I feel tolerate it, happiness and marjorie in my soul.
From not a Taylor Swift fan to "I guess I must be a Taylor Swift fan" in just listening to two albums...That's impressive. Wait till you hear the rest! You're in for quite a ride.
Marjorie makes me ugly cry more than any other TS song. I think it hits really hard if you have ever lost someone close to you. The line about keeping every grocery store receipt destroyed me, because I still have my mom's last shopping list 10 years after she died.

You need to react to Red, speak now, 1989 and reputation
he'll probably be impressed with songwritings, not sure sonically.
hoping he's going to react tho
Lol great timing! Just searched you hoping you'd react ❤️
I wish people gave Coney Island and evermore as much love as Champagne problems 😭❤
AGREED they’re my favourites
The way my heart dropped with bitter sweetness when I saw an interview with Taylor explaining her grandma Marjorie was an opera singer and they put it in the song when she says “I’d swear you were singing to me now” and they play Marjorie singing opera..that is so special.
I loved your reactions to Evermore and Folklore! Welcome to the Swifty fandom! Being a swifty from the beginning, I can honestly say these two albums are her best and my personal favs! They're completely different from her previous work.
The piano in Exile, Champagne problems, Coney Island and Evermore is Joe, her boyfriend and that's soo beautiful and those are some of the best songs in the two albums
Also I think that is a key factor of the chemistry they've shown both in their relationship and in their collaboration on these two albums, as Taylor said in her documentary "I also was falling in love with someone who had a really wonderfully normal, balanced, grounded life."
That's the type of life that she was looking for, also that's more genuine and intimate than she got the chance to experience before.
More than anything Jon, I really fucking appreciated your willingness to feel and express. Modelling that while creating a badass channel, for me, is the heart centred male. We need more models. Appreciate your channel brotha.
I'm a stan, at first listen I didn't like any tracks, literally. After 2 listens, it became my fav album of the year, beating folklore.
It's all in my head after 2nd listen😂
It's so much deeper... thats why!
I really like how Jon can always reference different artists and notice influence from them in others.
Some things you should know
Marjorie was an Opera singer (and TS's grandmother) and her voice has been used as the background vocals of the song towards the end
Piano in evermore was by her boyfriend Joe who also helped with the lyrics
Jon is so pure. I love his reactions so much
This was such a beautiful reaction. I feel the same way listening to her last two albums. It’s like hypnotizing you into a therapeutic session.
Jon we really need reactions to Taylor's other albums!! (especially Red, Speak Now and 1989)
He probably won't like 1989 since it's very poppy and upbeat for his taste.🥺
@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos that may be true, but 1989 has This Love, Clean or You're in Love, songs that I think he would like for sure. He said in the folklore reaction that he enjoyed Shake It Off too, so... also, I can see him liking Blank Space for instance. A reaction to that album would be super interesting tbh. Hopefully he does it at some point
Taylor Swift makes you feel all your feelings.
Great reaction. I think you should check out her some of old albums. She has great songwriting in all of the albums. But I think RED is critically acclaimed same as folklore. I would be great of you'd check her older stuff
Let's go, this will make my Monday a lil bit better! 👍
THANK YOU for the cowboy like me appreciation omg. It’s severely underrated and the best of the album.
Taylor Swift has become legend now
Yesssss I’ve been waiting for this one
This album deserves way more attention!
it's just as good as folklore.(or even better in some cases)😭😭😭
You and Ajay carry the reaction channels and that’s a fact 😌
Marjorie is so breathtaking. Everyone can relate to it everyone has lost someone like that. She’s magnificent
I really love that Jon gave her a chance and realized her level of skill. These two albums really are stunning. 🥺
the first thing that came to mind when she announced the release of this album was "WHEN WILL JON RELEASE A REACTION"
"It's like he's got a boombox of his own music and he's trying to kick down the door" 😂😂😂
i think we all just collectively sobbed when we first heard marjorie 😔🤚
The Bon iver part on the title track is one of the best things I’ve heard all year
My favourite artist ever
Was expecting the baritone and was shook it was the singing I'd been expecting from exile
For me it ruins the song :(
@@bondebon not really.. if you know bon iver music, he really sing in this kind of range and it’s more climatic when they exchange the words until the tension ease when taylor added the line “you were there”.. I say that it is better than exile sonically and in tone
u need to listen to the bonus tracks!!! right where you left me is my favorite
taylor swift songwriter of the year, queen of storytelling periodt
Thank you for this, was waiting anxiously!! 🔥
The journey of Jon becoming a Swiftie with these two albums it’s just so pleasing to see ✨ PS: it’s already rumored a third album woodvale might be coming around March/May according to some Easter eggs so keep an eye out 👁
Folklore being my second favorite album of the year I was so happy and very excited for another Taylor Swift project.
Just a remider of albums that I think you would love to listen:
Punisher - Phoebe Bridges
Titanic Rising - Weyes Blood
Honestly all discography by HAIM
Lemonade - Beyoncé
Joanne - Lady Gaga
♡
yea.. women in music part 3 is one of the best albums of 2020
We need a Kayce Musgraves album reaction! Golden hour specifically
Marjorie and evermore are SO healing and beautifully written and watching you experience them for the first time made me emotional
I love your reactions and how you express your emotions. You are such a lovely human.
You should really watch her NPR tiny desk concert. You can really see her genius songwriting and musicallity. She's always this good, but the production of her songs doesn't always show that. Just like what you said about pop songs.
AHHH I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!
Evermore is nothing short of perfection. Miss Swift has no equal. Welcome to Taylor Nation.
She has made two albums in one year because she was, is and always be a GENIUS. Music hall of fame.
I loved this album so much.
Having just lost my gram, Marjorie hit me so hard. Such a beautiful song and tribute to her grandmother.

For me no body, no crime and long story short sort of serves as the “palette cleanser” to the exquisite wine that is this album. 💕
Trust me, i didn't love Gold Rush at my first listen, and then after days damnnn!!! So gooddddd
Loved seeing you trying not to cry on camera. Great reaction and I'm glad you loved it as much as we the fans did.
