I can remember being in middle school watching RoR crash compilations... Man, the memories of old school BeamNGDrive
I was 4 when ror came out in 2005, I'm now 22 :)
It's was and nostalgic game
Isn’t the burnside from GTA SA or am I thinking of something else
@@chris-kr3ojthere’s a few horn sounds in beamng drive that sounds exactly from gta San andreas
@@chris-kr3ojbut i think so yeah
I still mod Rigs of Rods today. Currently working on cars with BeamNG level features.
Yo you that one guy from ror reborn bluebird is sick🗣️
@@Fodder916 yes
as a Burnside Limo, i can confirm this guy makes really great mods.
I was aware of Rigs of Rods, but I never tried it myself. It is incredible that one of the first attempts of soft body physics was in the mid-2000s. That's amazing! 😮
And GTA IV which is probably the biggest game with them was just a couple years later
@@NotThatJonesShowGTA 4 has the best crashing of all GTA games.
its weird, the connection between beam and ror is always a massive argument match in the ror community but from memory one of the people from the ror team was who went on to make beam... but the weird part for me is how ror has always seemingly been more oriented to heavy equipment and trucks where as from what ive seen beam is all about cars and what not.
i will say tho, from what ive seen of beam the crash welding is way less of an issue than in ror llol
@rockertv3000 Yeah! Some of the devs of RoR did go on to create Beam. As for the cars, that is quite interesting. I guess Rigs of Rods looked towards certain vehicles during its development.
And the crashing, it sounded like it was focused on. The differences between the games sure is interesting... 😯
@@AdaBow10 As someone that dabbled in making RoR mods, the core of the "heavy equipment" was a by-product of how the nodes/ rods in ror had both an easy and practical application of dynamic rods / constraints. so to make an equipment's arm or shovel - was a trivial mix of applying dynamic lengths to a rod and open rotational constraints on a node. The thing with beam is that theres more modular attributes to parts - so the form to make a working "thing" in beam consists of combining all the things that happen to make a car. Where as RoR was strictly ,as the name implies, - nodes and beams with attributes, covered in mesh skin/texture. There were also planes/ jets among other things in RoR from the very beginning, boats as well. So the flexibility ror offered was just by virtue of how simple it was to define a vehicle. The only particulalry specific thing other than nodes/beams in RoR was "flextire" which also tended to only show up on industrial equipment or big truck wheels. As wobbly tires weren't so great on lightweight cars.
I feel like the entire series of OG RoR cars should be published in the mods repository of BeamNG in sort of a _vintage cars_ section.
I remember driving the Gavril Zeta a lot.
I always used the G2S
My favorite is the Burnside, I'm so glad it was ported!
I'm actually kind of surprised cars weren't officially added. Developing this game would've been the perfect opportunity to bring back some of those cars.
@@JackFoxtrotEDM Gavril himself does not want his own mods to be ported from RoR to BNG
@@erkinalp Gabester you mean?
I would be very pleasantly surprised if the beam team actually went and took the ROR cars, re did them from the ground up, and added them to beamng.
ya, especially the gavril omega
i would love to see this mod brought into 2023 with a proper remaster. I'm well aware that the moonhawk is basically its modern counterpart
Not really.
I would love to see an update in BeamNG where they add all the classic Gabester RoR cars into the game and refresh all of them. That would really expand the lore too. Also, I think RoR does work on modern computers but for some reason the screen is really small
RoR does indeed work on todays computers, and is still being updated and is available to download on the official website. If i remember correctly, you can change the settings to whatever resolution you need. My only issue with RoR is the controls, which i've honestly never really understood. lol
@@Boomer112can confirm, took me a good month to get used to RoR but when I switched over to BeamNG I was proficient with the ui in like a week
@@Boomer112 yes the controls are very strange, but for some reason I cannot increase the size of the screen which is very small on my monitor, and the full screen button does not work for me
@@johnlarson1683 Hmm, alright. That's strange. So, you don't have any settings for the screen resolution 🤔 Weird that fullscreen also doesn't work for you... it should be fullscreen once you restart the game after enabling fullscreen, since that's what it says you need to do to.
And it works fine for me.
@@3SZ Hah yeah, BeamNG's UI and everything is a 100 times better!
I used to make mods for RoR and was active when they rolled out multiplayer which you joined by collaborating on the forum. The jets and planes were some of the most fun. I also got addicted to a rock crawler mod "spidertrax" and there was a map that had dedicated/challenging rock crawl routes. Despite the age, there were some vehicles even in the OG version that used a lot of new rendering tech as well as "flex tire". It was the first time I had dipped into a game that I could also mod. My mods weren't really published but more of just fun concepts since I was in like early highschool at that time. One was a flying car that I did manage to get "working". But it did take a lot of time to get a functional vehicle, let alone something that actually worked as intended. Thats also considering I was using some tools that were released by the community, so I wasn't even that deep into the actual dev of the game.
Those were the days. I used to make things for ror as well. Miss it dearly. Life has gotten in the way of being able to spend any time on beamNG.
The chaos of multiplayer is still fresh in my mind
Might be worth a mention that the RoR Burnside is a fantastic mod for lower-end computers, due to its far greater simplicity over normal BeamNG cars.
I would love to see you play RoR again, Neil.
I love how it fits into the lore, too. If the BeamNG Burnside is from the 50s, this Burnside is just a later gen, like late 70s or early 80s. Very cool.
I remember playing 1nsane and loving the soft body physics there. Then playing with the soft body in LFS, but never heard of RoR🤷
3:07 that k series is a beast, it just drove right away
We also have a Gavril Bandit.
ALSO! This car crashes EXACTLY, and i really mean EXACTLY the same way as it does in RoR.
One dev update has AI, but not in the same way Beam does.
I still sometimes mod Rigs of Rods.
I discovered RoR not long before BeamNG dropped. I want that mobile crane to make its way into BeamNG. I had fun pulling vehicles out of the 50' ditches at a staggering 5-10 FPS.
It'd be neat if they brought the 1949 shoebox Ford from RoR back too. I used to play RoR all the time because I couldn't run BeamNG.
Ford Tudor my beloved
Hey neil. I know of another car mod from RoR. Its called the Gavril Bandit. I think it might have been from RoR originally but someone made it into a mod. It is very outdated though. It should be on the repository still.
Stay awesome, Neil. Laundry and watching beamng in the hotel on my day off 🤙
Grew up playing RoR, my dad was super into it. Thanks for the nostalgia trip man :)
Awesome video Neil! Yeah it would be fun to see you play Rigs of Rods. And yes it does run on modern PCs
1st vehicle in RoR was the rally DAF truck i believe, then they even added planes which were all low poly but insanely ahead of time in terms of physics back then :D
Without it BeamNG would have never happened, so glad it's became this popular too!
oooh i remember this one,
I played with it a lot back in RoR.
I've customized a few of them, like the offroad one. Mine turned out kinda similar to the Off-Road coupe in this pack.
I also had a regular one which i swapped the engine out of with a rotary engine, Gave it rotary engine like performance and a torque curve, tweeked the suspension a bit here and there.
It turned out to be a really good car for regular track use, As well as drifting as it had the power to do it but it had to be pushed slightly beyond it's capabilities.
Had a ton of fun with it.
Holy crap, I was hoping someone would convert more of Gabester's old RoR mods. So happy to see my favourite come to Beam! Just a shame that gabester doesn't want usually want them converted, which sucks as they're all great cars.
Should note though, it's not 18 years old. Closer to 13.
Awesome video
It would be amazing if you played Rigs of Rods multiplayer!
As someone who played Rigs of Rods before Beamng was even a thing,
That thumbnail alone got me excited!
The memories that have been revived, thank you for showing this to us, i have never felt so much joy to see a BeamNGDrive mod
We need to get other Gavril cars from RoR ! 🔥
Now I want to go watch the RoR crashes compilations as I used to back then❤
thats a classic right there, i remember back in ror where i flung this thing off jumps and watch it crumble
Would be really cool to see some old-school RoR! Also, if possible, I recomend you to check out the first "soft body physics" game I have played, called Viper Racing, from 1998!
you cant even imagine how long i was trying to find this exact car for beamng. i couldnt remember the name of in in RoR but finally i can enjoy it again, it always reminded me of a cop car from the monster house cartoon 2006. wich was i do belive was based on Dodge diplomat 1988
Best part of rigs of rods is drag racing in multiplayer with the burnside drag and watching you or your opponent crash on neo queretaro
neo queretaro my beloved
I did that with my friend, but i modified the .truck files so it will go faster. I always laughed at others
Neil needs to play ROR one more time
I remember playing RoR.
I don't remember how i discovered it, i just found it and as a bonus it was free to download including mods.
I still have screenshots saved for that matter.
I remember still playing Rigs of Rods when BeamNG was announced and stuck with RoR when BeamNG was released.
Though i was excited for BeamNG, it didn't have the library of content RoR had and so i stayed with RoR until BeamNG actually had some updates and content added which if i remember correctly had two or three vehicles in the game by that point.
The ROR mod I want ported to beamng is the 1949 Ford Coupe, one of my favorite cars from ROR and very nostalgic. I think there was a mod for it at one point
It would be awesome to see more rigs of rods
i remember when i was a kid and playing RoR. it was my favorite free game that wasnt a flash game lol. i was blown away when i found out about beamng. loved all the gavril cars in RoR
i used to love the RoR Burnside from when i was a kid surfing youtube watching weird RoR crash compilation on youtube and i really like the Burnside but i can't play the game cuz at the time idk what the game name is and i have limited access to the internet. When i found out that the burnside mod is avaiable on the repo i instantly download it and ngl, the car was pretty much the same as the one i saw when i was a kid and in RoR (apart from the texture doesn't seem to be that great but hey, mike has spend 2 years for this. Credit him for the effort) Hope that more RoR vehicle and map can be port over to beamng (if gabe is fine with it)
Gabester (the lead vehicle artist in beamng) is made mods for rigs of rods. (you can find cars branded as Gavril in RoR mod repository )
The Burnside was made by gabester, one of the beamng founders, around 2008 or so. I made the v8 sound for the Burnside, which made its way to beamng as the default engine sound for all cars.
:D
New beam burnside needs remaster and you are the guy I mean the stock Burnside
Cool as video! Love to see this in beamMP!!
Neo I love your content you inspire me to have fun ❤
I have waited so long for a conversion to beamng for the burnside of rigs of rods
last RoR update was december 2022, so it should work !
is opensource, and multiplayer, and mods are active, cool!
Damn Rigs of rods!? Talk about a throwback!
I was playing rigs of rods for the first time in like 2-3 years last night, and was looking for a burnside on the repository. Weird.
I did download the bandit though.
I wouldn’t mind the 49 Ford from that game coming to beamng
Yoooooo I remember watching ROR but completely forgot about it till now thanks for the nostalgia Neil
I remember playing on Penguin City with that orange Charger.
I still go back to ror for the nostalgia, you should definitely do a video on it again
I tried Rigs of Rods recently and I could not get the download to work with the newest launcher I could find, me and a buddy use to off road in that game on the island map, was impressed at the time of the physics.
i would LOVE to see you play rigs of rods!
Yes! Rigs of Rods please!
That was my very first mod in Rigs of Rods 😂, loved it so much!
I remember getting out of school and just loading rigs of rods up and play it for hours then played online as well those where the good days
Rigs of Rods... man the memories I have in that game.....
1:32 I coincidentally watched this on Sunday, lol
I loved the Burnside! Im so happy someone brought it into Beam.
Let's see Rigs Of Rods! I feel it would be appropriate for your channel for sure.
It'd be very interesting to see you play RoR again, especially considering that people are still making mods for it.
Hope some more vehicles from Rigs of Rods get added too
The way the K-Series starts driving away though.💀 3:07
The Burnside is NOT from 2005.
Rigs of Rods was publicly released in 2005, the Burnside was one of Gabester's first mods and came around 2011 if I remember correctly
hey Neil, is it possible for future Beamng videos that you could put your logo in the opposite corner so it doesn't block the speedometer?
Fun fact, this is the only full size 80’s sedan I have ever seen in beamng
i was playing RoR up until this year then i finally got Beam NG but i still go back and play RoR sometimes
Car jump Arena : says to only do 120 mph
*literally evrybody* : Nah imma go 200 mph
I misread the upload time as '23 years ago' and was wondering what the hell coma I fell into.
Nope, nope, we're only flashing back 18 years.
ya, it works on my computer and as far as I know, it's not an old one. And surprisingly, ror is still getting updated.
Thats so cool that we have that holy cow its older than beam itself lmao
yes! we need more nostalgic ror
I would actually like you see the play The Rigs of Rods back in 2016 to watch and then in 2019 I followed you and that was amazing graphics amazing cause and well done in an hour to Hackney plate I want just relive hold your childhood again😊
Imma make a tune just for endless highway when I download the mod
gavril burnside drag is the best one, i reached 553kmh (373mph) in it in ror dragword arena 1
I really want some RoR in BeamNG drive man we need these legendary cars back
Omg it's about time they finally put this in game
yes neil please play rigs and rods i am interested in it
I think I can speak for quite a few of us... bring us the RoR video!!!
Yeah, I want to See Rigs of Rods!

Cool.
For the life of me I cannot find the "BeamMP Server Info channel".
3:22 YES. PERIOD.
love ur vids keep up the good work neil
Hey mate ! Do you use some graphics mods to ? Or you use just what game can offer 😜 I'm curious if this game could be better as it is
DAYMN
It reminds me of the AMC Matador
you should play rigs of rods multiplayer someday
“Officer this mod was 18 years old, let me explain”
I want to see rids of rods
Yo neo pls ask your mod makers to do a 1999 dodge Durango you would not disappoint they come with a v8 magnum
I'd like you to try rigs of rods.
looks like a car out of GTA San Andreas
Well Rigs of rods came out only a year after gta sa so that's probably why
YES play RIGS OF RODS. It's weird. My old laptop could play that pretty ok-ish. My Beam, nope. My computer was not happy. Looking like a 8bit game. Haha
I love all your videos neo and i wounder if i can get the mode of that car bc i play beamng drive too
At last the newest burnside model is coming out 😁
Fun fact it's actually Saturday when I'm watching this
I never heard of Rigs of Rods. And I'm 49. 😂 I would like to see it.
It fell into obscurity.
