- This guide should work on 2005 - 2008 Acura RL 3.5 Engines. It is probably very similar to other Honda and Acura engines.
amzn.to/3pFmL1O - Valve Cover Gasket
amzn.to/3M2Duna - Valve Cover Grommet
amzn.to/3M5QmZB - Spark Plug Tube Seal
amzn.to/3LVWsf2 - DeWalt Ratchet
You are the first person that made a video like this that I’ve been looking for for over six years thank you very much
Thanks for watching! I always try to make easy to understand video guides
You did the best representation of a mechanic on this car than anyone else or any other video of a J series I came across everything I needed to know and how to go about the repair you described everything and you’re gonna save me a lot of money in the long run. Keep up the good work.
If you buy new valve covers, the front comes with a new PCV valve installed, and both have tube seals pre installed. (2005-2008 Acura RL front: 12310-RJA-000, rear: 12320-rja-000
excellent video you helped me save 700 bucks and learn something new thank you so much
Great to hear!
Man what an excellent job and detailing and being on point each step of the way. Currently experiencing the smoke at the exhaust manifold and this video just gave me courage to change the valve gasket. Hope everything goes well and I dont drop a nut or screw.
Thank you! Just be patient and pay attention to detail and you'll do well! Let me know how it goes when you finish
I have the same problem with the spark plug hole on the valve cover corroded away in 2 areas on the front cover. Have you had any problems with leakage because of that? The spark plug “electrical connectors” tab breaks off due to being brittle when you press to disconnect any suggestions other then replace connectors? I wonder will a “tie strap” work to keep together?
@gaboidawg tie wrap will not work as it most likely to melt off or get brittle then break
Yeah, I agree. Zip tie should work if it’s not holding. The vehicle I worked on had all spark plug holes deteriorated, but none of them are leaking. So you should be fine.
Big help thank you!🫡
This video is great! thank you. I now have a better Idea on how to remove and fix the gasket.
Glad it helped!
Love the vids very detailed
Appreciate it!
Great vid!! Thank you!!!
You bet!
Good job! Thanks man I really appreciate the video because I have the same oil leakage and it’s time to change gaskets and plugs. I do have the 2005-2008 RL Service manual but enjoyed watching your video it made me more confident. A lot of interference removal!
Glad it helped
good job 👍
you wont belive how hard it is to find valve covers for 2005-2008 that spark plug holes are not melted away
Thanks, so I guess it is a very common problem on RLs then.
@@PZPal yes very common
Just finishing up that today to. I decided since I had everything off too
Change my spark, ignition, coils, oxygen sensors, everything. I also had to place my front engine mount to.
Nice, makes it a very good tune-up
@@PZPal Yes in deed.
Thanks the heat from the engine slaughtered the seals from it being low on oil
About to do this ..
Good luck, let me know if you'll have any questions while you're doing it
