1999 - 2003 Toyota Sienna Valve Cover Gaskets Replacement
For the valve cover grommets does the 1199 order cover all of them or do we need to buy my than one set?
I recently started hearing some ticking from the passenger side of my engine in my 2016 Impreza. Upon further inspection, I found oil seepage on that side where the driver side is bone dry. I already ordered the gaskets from Auto Zone. I just went with the Mahle set as it was half as much as the Fel-Pro ($33 vs 63) and looks like it could be the same exact set. A lot of car parts are made by the same factories and just branded differently. I laugh when the O'Reillys workers act like O'Reilly's are actually making their own parts. I ask them where their factory is and they can never tell me because there isn't one as they don't manufacture ANYTHING! They pay other companies to put their name on stuff. That IS how it works!
Good thing about some local parts store is you might get lifetime warranty. I personally prefer to use OEM gaskets as long as they're reasonably priced. Two reasons are fitment guarantee and you could see how long OEM one lasted and expect same results from replacement.
@@PZPal That is a good point! I'm not used to having access to true OEM parts because I'm usually driving older cars where they literally aren't making the parts anymore and aftermarket is all there is. They haven't even shipped my Mahle set yet, I will look into OEM. Thanks for pointing that out!
Your video helped me change my alternator today. Very detailed and great angles 👍
Thanks! I’m glad it was helpful!
Hello.Thank you for making an awesome video. Please can you tell me if you had any leaks after you had finished?
Thanks for watching. I checked right after and did not see any leaks. The vehicle was not taken back to me afterwards so I am sure there are no leaks.
Thanks for such a detailed video. I have a 2005 and a 2008 both have leaking valve covers and melted coil pack holes. Did yours still leak after the repair due to the damaged hole?
Thanks for watching. Definitely no leaks and holes are dry!
Amazing thank you for this
You're welcome, glad it was helpful.
I can’t get it back in where the bottom bolt goes
Try wiggling alternator while you're putting the bolt in
The mechanic shop wanted to charge $ $700 Advance Auto was $400 for the alternator eBay I paid $45 .
That's crazy. When it happened, driver wanted a good guaranteed replacement, but for $400 from from auto parts store vs under $50 for used one, used one was a no brainer. It still works great. Thanks for watching!
Why does the car turn off if the hybrid battery is bad? Mine shuts off and has the same replace hybrid battery code.
My understanding is hybrid battery is directly connected to alternator and starter (or they don't even exist due to hybrid battery). Therefore, if hybrid battery fails, then whole car is not working. I did recently watch a TH-cam who was a very experienced Toyota technician. He said if hybrid battery fails, vehicle will still work but at poor performance. That particular vehicle I worked on, when battery failed, the vehicle randomly shut off every 15 min or so. So getting battery replaced was urgent.
What is the Part's Number of the K&N that you used?
HP-1008
What battery specs do you recommend generally for 09 G37 and if any for cold weather, i am in Canada 🥶
You could try to get an AGM battery. It should be better with cold starts. I know that Costco (at least in Florida) sells AGM ones for G37. The size is 35 (group size)
Just now completed this exact chore in the dark, cold snow of Columbus Ohio. It was a long, unpleasant, frustrating ordeal - but oh, how much worse it would have been without your fantastic video. Bravo, and thank you. Interesting tidbit - I replaced the same battery as you (DieHard) with the same battery as you (Interstate I bought today at Costco).
Thanks a lot for watching and glad it was helpful! I definitely don't miss living in cold climate lol and yeah, Costco batteries is the way to go now, have them on 3 of my vehicles and never had any issues with any of them
Well I spoke to soon. This video helps me with the spark plugs and coil but what about lifters lol
lol sorry, did not need lifters work on sienna I worked on
Hey any way u can make a video on 03 sienna lifter replacement and coil and spark plug replacement
Plugs and coils should be helpful in this video. Lifters not much, but I am sure it’ll be a bit easier now after watching this video.
Hi from Mexico awesome video!!
Hey, thanks!
Great video. Does the series 2 vs the series 3 have both sets of nuts or just one? Thanks
No idea
Does that sub not fit under the seat? And the built in sub not enough to produce good bass? Does it improved a lot with the new 8inch sub?
Not sure, but it probably could fit there. I replaced all speakers and bass did not sound good to me possibly due to sub was old. Replacing sub with OEM newer would be pretty expensive without unknown sound quality results. Sound system now is really good. I supposed sound would be pretty good if its coming from under driver's seat, but I decided to do it more traditional way with sub in the back of the car.
Thank you for this video! I'm a woman and I just did this repair. Your video was my guide. Thanks again.
That's awesome to hear! Glad I could be of assistance.
You don’t need to remove the bolts for the windshield wipers flip panel over and disconnect the wires
Thanks for the tip!
Just wanted to say thank you for this video, it helped me out greatly fixing the fiance's car.
You're welcome!
I’ve been looking for a video for this thank you
Glad I could help
Congrats on your purchase, I'd say $6000s range seems worth it. I also bought a 2014 ML350 earlier this year for about $12K. Had close to 150K miles. Since I bought it from another state, I paid someone to inspect it, then shipped it. It also had upgraded features like the surround cameras, real leather, vented seats, adaptive cruise (distronic plus), etc. Everything on mine worked, but I did replace the window buttons myself as well as the steering wheel buttons and bottom frame due to how the paint was peeling, made it look really ugly. The exterior was close to mint, though the interior was really dirty, especially the seatbelts. I guess that's one bad thing about a light colored interior. So cleaning most of that was a pain. I also recently changed the main battery myself, totally did not know the main battery was so big and under the front passenger seat before buying this car. Funny thing was, I was never intending to buy a used Mercedes, but a video from Car Wizard made me really interested in the W166 for its reliability. If I were you, I'd run a Carfax on it to at least see some vehicle history. Also go to lastvin.com and run your VIN number to see what your car has. In terms of your other issues like the media head unit not working, maybe you can check the relevant fuse?
Brodie I have a issue when I’m in drive and I accelerate or brake the shift knob moves slightly what do you think the issue can be?
It does sound like shift assembly is faulty. But I never had that issue. Try to replace it with a used one
@ bet Thankyou bro
No problem. If you end up changing the assembly, let me know if it fixes the issue or not.
It prolongs the life of the radiator, head gaskets and fasteners. Electron flow ----> They corrode so your essential parts don't.

Great video. Now I know where the adjustment is.

Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the video and tips. Going to order the bushing and give it a whirl. ✌️💪
Let me know how it goes.
Make sure to put a dobb of lipper on the bushing before re-install.
This is an excellent DIY video. Your details around @7:00 of exactly how the wires and divider plastic are placed is extremely helpful and you focused on exactly what is mildly confusing about this replacement. Nothing else to say except well done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!
Glad it was helpful.
Kudos to you for undertaking this project. 👍👍 I'm no mechanic by any means, but because of your video I'm going to give it a try. The dealer wants a small fortune, literally, to do this job on my '08 Ridgeline. I'm sure my job may take longer because both seat bars don't retract. Thanks again. 🙏
Let me know how it goes! Its best to replace pulleys on two seats anyway and will take almost same amount of time. How much did dealer want for it?
Thank you for making this video it was very helpful...especially the part number for the bulb. I learned something and saved money
Glad it helped
Excellent video thank you
Glad it was helpful!
What size impact
Where exactly?
@ I found it it was 10 mm for the pan bolts
Same thing for 2014 Infiniti q50 ???
Should be same or very similar. I am planning on doing it on a Q50 sometime in the future.
Hey bro I have a issue where my shifter doesn’t want to stay in drive and the shifter will move to neutral sometime and sometimes it will just stay there in drive be ok, it just start happening after I let it sit for a year in a garage
To me it seems like issue is with the assembly itself. Probably the best thing to do is just replace the assembly since they're used not that expensive.
Thxs man, I’m trying to figure it out for coupe of days,
Let me know if it solves the issue or if you find what caused it
The volume is too low..
Thanks for the feedback!
There is tiny crystal cracks in the plastic I saw they sell jut the plastic but do how hard would it be to remove then pop on?
Yeah, there is no solution for those except replacement. You can remove headlight lens by putting headlight into oven for some time. You could also buy a good aftermarket brand new headlights (TYC is a decent brand for it)
Would u ever u 2k gloss with primer?
My limited research showed that using 2k gloss may negatively affect light output performance.
What happens if the ground cable is broken?
It slightly increase chances in developing head gasket issues.
I just finished doing this it hurt my back like hell but it works you just need alot of strength putting it on
Looks like somebody needs a rocker arm cover gasket as well?!
thank you for showing how to do it in the most simplistic way possible. Million times thank you
I'm glad it was helpful!
Good job on the replacement video. I am in the process of replacing two bottom door sweeps. I replaced the one for our garage, it has the double kerf slot while the one in our living room has a single kerf. The single kerf sweep is very hard to find, I am assuming a double kerf is the standard now. The sweeps vanes were slightly too long so I had to trim them down to be able to shut the door with less force. There really isn't a need to add silicone except perhaps if the sweep is not staying flush with the bottom of the door but use sparingly. Also, I would not use nails as they could split the wood so try staples instead but only as needed to make the sweep backing flush with the bottom of the door.
You shouldn't need rtv on a rubber gasket
From what I remember, Subaru's service manual says to add RTV in some areas.
Feeding the algorithm, thanks for making this video
Thank you for this video brother. 👍
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful.
Nice job! Thanks. I just did this job. Craftsman V tech 10mm wrench worked well for removing the two small bolts. Also cracked the solenoid valve with a 22mm deep socket before removing the three long bolts on the main housing. Note, If you're not replacing the oil you don't need to remove the filter just be careful how you are cleaning the part to not get part cleaner in the oil filter. I sprayed and whiped down the whole situation with electrical parts cleaner to prep. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
