I was excited for a second when I saw what I thought was an Eggle Berlin Pro (my #1, which will be buried with me, if I manage to sneak it into my coffin without my wife noticing), then I noticed the dead pigeon inlays.
Sounds awesome! Congrats on the upgrade, well worth the time and money spent. Your thumbnail statement for this video is actually extremely fitting, for this guitar will surely be "Fidelis ad Mortem" to you! That's the NYPD motto by the way, it means "Faithful Unto Death" ❤🔥
I have an FGN strat hss antique white from 2017 and it's my forever guitar. All that i have done with it is i replaced the nut, with a bone nut. Guitar plays, and sound's perfect to me, and i will never sell it.😊
3:31 🤣🤣🤣 I have tried an American Pro (or Ultra?) Strat recently at Gear4music. I don't assume they set up their guitars on display properly, but even with my mediocre guitar skills I just could not 'feel' or see the money. Whereas my Jet JS-300 feels just perfect to me. Bottom line: a guitar has to feel like a million pounds to YOU. And a (maybe slightly upgraded) budget guitar can absolutely tick that box.
i aquired an i recently aquired a Levinson Sceptre Arlington Gen II , tele , i now know what you mean about the stainless frets , some stunning guitars for a good price these days , im very happy . 350 quid new guitar with hardware that feels like an 800 quid guitar
Just bought a Grote archtop - and the frets feel very different to my Aria strat; they possibly are SS - and they feel fantastic. That's the guitar I'm taking to Valhalla... eventually!
I've been a 'Telecaster' person for years and still prefer it's design to any rivals. However, I recently bought a fairly cheap Revelation RJT60 that has the equivalent of two P90s (X90s), and I cannot but be impressed by the fullness of their tone. I probably still sound s**t overall, but I understand what you mean. The only question is if the sound we prefer reflects changes within ourselves or are the consequence of discoveries offered by different hardware than then become inspirational.
I had a Yamaha Revstar with the stainless steel frets and that's why I got rid of it. They feel too hard for my delicate fingers. I never notice the frets on a guitar unless they are pitted but you notice the SS frets.
The Tribute is modded and personalized to perfection now, but never is a long time even for old farts. Not so long ago there was a Sean Connery / Bond movie "Never Say Never Again", a lesser 'Thunderball' remake possibly redeemed by Barbara Carrera, that Connery swore would never be made. And I've watched Trogly sell his "never ever sell" favourite guitars, but then he's a pragmatic businessman who calls himself a collector.
Maybe I just have a ridiculously heavy touch, but I've had that guitar just over 2 years and already the factory frets were starting to get pitted in a few places. I suppose the fact that I play 8-10 hours a day might have an impact too.
The business relationship with the "gentleman" who built that guitar broke down in some degree of acrimony. When I related my account of events in a video, he insisted I take down the video on pain of legal action. I no longer play that guitar or endorse his products.
Hypocrisy is defined (as I understand it) as someone taking a moral position on some matter, then acting in a way which doesn't match that stated position. Banging on about climate change & carbon footprints etc, then flying around in a Lear Jet, for example. That is what I regard as hypocrisy. Having an opinion on which kind of guitars I like which can change and evolve over a period of time, and documenting that experience in the course of some TH-cam videos is something you regard as tantamount to hypocrisy or some kind of double standards? I respectfully disagree. I also refute the notion that I have ever claimed to "hate" any guitar. Apart from Jazzmasters... They're just plain ugly.
Yah it's us fickle guitar players and our wanderlust. Sure she looks good for a day or too till the romance wears off but then what. Maybe she's a stalker, I've known some PRS like that, they never leave you alone, in fact I got one like that now, she won't let go and I resent her deeply. I finally went back to my teenage love, an SG, and I couldn't be happier in my old age. Young love, first love, filled with deep devotion.
Confessions of a Guitar Junkie.... for once a healthy addiction. Soldier on John, we all get vicarious pleasure out of your excitement and joy.

im rubbish at guitar but i could make a fine go cart when i was younger.
That Grandpa Joe and now the Agrajag touch has made this a unique guitar. (There, I didn't even menton the burst bucker pickups upgrade...oops!)
I love the way you put that guitar piece together. Sounded great.
If nickel frets are properly polished there is no difference, the difference is that ss frets do not need the maintenance that nickel frets do.

Yes John, we will see

Start calling her The Sherriff now, John.
Not a fan of the Tribute, but that police inlay looks very classy.

I like the P.R.S. can you tell me what i have to pay for a stainless fret job? That tele is wonderfull! Thank you for posting! 😀
I think Agrajag charge £300 for a stainless steel refret.

Hey used stainless jumbo, frets 40 odd years ago,, the difference is they last a lot longer.
Hi John, where can one buy HB guitars in the UK?
Only available from Thomann 👍
they look like mini guitars? 3/4 sized?
No, it's just that I'm very fat.
Looks like you’re Gona start looking at Gibson SG’s now. Why not, one won’t hurt 🥴👍🏻

Interesting. I love the feel of them. Each to their own, I suppose.

The cough,I thought I heard…oh never mind.
I watched an older video the other day, where you had your Gordon Smith. Do You think You would have kept it, if had stainless steel frets.?
Probably 👍
Pram wheel 'trolley'. (Y) ...have the scars.
Just polish your nickel frets and play on…unless you’re planning on living for fifty more years or so …😊

Whatever happened to Goldie, your signature guitar? That was a looker.

@@JRobsonGuitar Oh, that sounds like a nightmare. On the bright side, if you have been threatened with legal action it means you are a proper TH-camr.
You seem like a decent man but you're favourites change yearly hate Gibson hate strats your a hypocrite on a big scale 😅

Is that a 27 baritone or 25.5"😂
