What's your favourite number from Joseph? Let us know in the comments!
Joseph’s coat
This one!!
Benjamin Calypso!
My lucky number is 5 and 8
close every door
“I look handsome, I look smart. I am a walking work of art”
And your brothers didn’t like you? Shocking
Wait until you hear about his dreams....
lol. Too bad this take on the life of Joseph is absolutely dreadful. The actual record of his life gives zero indication that Joseph was a cocky narcissist, and reveals Joseph's brothers to be truly envious and hateful. See Genesis 37.
😂
Right?!
That was part of the humor of the play
He wasn’t being full of himself, he was just loving his new coat and singing about how amazing it was. Haven’t you ever worn something and commented on how nice or beautiful it looked? That doesn’t make you full of yourself
@@Jessica-ch1yi "I look handsome, I look smart, I am a walking work of art." x2
Sounds like Joseph singing about himself, no?
My entire childhood was compromised of me trying to list all of these colors but just repeating red and yellow and green and orange and blue in the tune of the song for four minutes.
Same!
I know that part already
Was even harder in primary school doing this in front of parents and the school hahahah good old days
Don't despair, according to the behind the scenes, they forgot a few colours too.
Same, plus ochre
I'll live to be 101 years old and I'll still remember all of the colours in their order.
Same!
Lololol I'm not the only one
Funny, I was just thinking, "Hey. thatd be cool to know all the colors in order..."
X1000 🤣🤣🤣🤣 i love this song 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Lmaoo same here we did this musical in middle school 😂
I love the chaotic vibes of this musical
Especially the Pharaoh’s number
the pharaohs number is my literal favorite I love it so much it just gives everyone seeing it for the first time such whiplash you’re expecting someone sophisticated and regal and you get Elvis Presley
Olivia I definitely wasn’t expecting that at all
@@olivia8977 I'm doing this show and I get to be in that number it's the best lol
Omg yes!!!
the actors playing the brothers are having a lot of fun and that’s precious to me
Donny Osmond has owned the role of Joseph for almost three decades!
Yeah he sure does!😊
40 years actually. 😁
@@chrishuff7524 He began performing the role of Joseph 30 years ago in Toronto, June 1992. You could say he is now entering his fourth decade!
My mom used to put this song on when I was a child, and my siblings and I would drape blankets over our shoulders and dance around like it was a multicolor cloak, twirling our blankets and running in circles and spinning. It was so sweet and wonderful. Love you mom.
This is my favorite musical! I absolutely adore Donnie Osmond.
I adore Donnie Osmond too amazing
The bible show how jealous the brothers were but never how sassy the brothers are 🤣 lovely show
Love this Narrator. She's just amazing: warm and beautiful. She's the best.

Tim Rice was is so talented - the lyrics are so well written, so clever, funny, and no forced rhymes. He must have had so much fun writing them.
Well, he did rhyme pajamas and farmers in Pharaoh’s Dreams Explained.
@@HeyJyll true… true.
I didn't know that Joseph's dad worked at Jurassic Park!
That was when he was Scottish, but with the accent of a region no Scot has ever seen.
He was also a spitfire pilot during dunkirk in ww2
I mean he spared no expense for the coat.
@@FreedomInSilence YES!
What can I say, he’s old!😂
lyrics 101: list off all the colors in your coat
i can just see them picking out random crayons from their crayola 64 pack
@@jaeson8145
Tim Rice: Ok Andrew you got the box of Crayons?
ALW:Yup
Tim Rice: Alright lets do this.
@@matth3w2002 lol if that didn't actually happen, i'm suing
Heard on Rice's podcast that he only came up with five colors and the choir kids in the school where they first performed this came up with the other ones. 🙃
@@carl2499 oh neato
Only real theater OGs know every color of that damn coat.
I really want that coat. I would wear it to college. I wouldn’t even care if I got bullied
I would wear the 2019 one worn by Jac Yarrow 🤩 and the 1989 coat worn by Jude Law!
I’d wearit all the time. Also if got the hair
You might end up at the bottom of a well...or sold to a bunch of hairy Ismealites.
MDkid1 They actually changed the lyrics from ‘you hairy bunch of Ishmaelites’
to ‘the Brothers said to the Ishmaelites’ 😁 I think it works better lol
Just watch out though cos your jealous brothers might sell you into slavery
This was the musical that got me into theatre. Memories
Same here
Me too!
haha..me too
This is one of the best films ever of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Musicals. I own a copy of this and have watched it mega times.
same!
Same
Donny Osmond was excellent in this
The CD for this musical was a staple of car trips throughout my childhood. I love every song.
It was red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ocher and peach and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve and cream and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and russet and grey and purple and white and pink and orange and red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ocher and peach and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve and cream and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and russet and grey and purple and white and pink and orange and BLUE!
Lovely 😊🤎🤎
This was before the comma was invented.
I've always wondered how casts that perform this show rehearse this song. I imagine it as one of the warm-ups every rehearsal with everyone just running over the colors once or twice 😆
thank you
@@TarTelperienNumenor As someone who has performed this show, I can attest that this is pretty much correct XD Memorizing the colors doesn't take too long if you sing it through once or twice a day!
My Grandmother saw this show live in Chicago and absolutely loved it. She bought the CD and played it on her CD player. I always think about her when this song plays.
We got her a Bose CD/radio player for Christmas one year that she had next to her record player. She was always moving Forward!
Still one of my favourite musicals I've ever been part of! 😍
You know you've seen this too many times if you can name all those colors correctly without looking up lyrics
Got me beat
they are drilled into my brain
Can’t relate my entire wardrobe is black
mine is black and white
Same.
Tbh. This made my head hurt
This is such a great show! It just makes me happy!
Imaging young Dolly Parton skipping through the hills of Tennessee singing this to herself
That woman is starring into my soul and screaming
The way she stares is as if she spotted a camera in a slime tutorial
Lexi Hall bootleg? what’s that? we only know slime tutorials
and chad correct. My apologies
I am going to have the song in my head for days.
This is the reason i didn't know the rainbow goes red orange yellow green blue indigo violet until i was 18
i remember being 9 and having to remember all those colours in the right order
3:04 I notice the middle circle kids in the orange and yellow that gap of not holding hands struggling so hard 😂
Did anyone else think Donny Osmond done a school play and they just filmed it? I’ve only realised in the past couple of years that it’s actually a full on film production
Honestly, I love the brothers. They’re so funny
That guy liner 👌👌 awh i love theater
"It was - (starts reeling off every mainline Pokémon game title)"
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Red and blue and diamond and Pearl and sapphire and Ruby 😂
My ultimate musical❤️
Really! How come?
I used to sing along when I was a kid...i miss that time so much....😌
Jacob definitely spare no expense
I did this show 6 years ago, but once you learn those colors, you know them for life.
I Love this. Musical. I remember playing Joseph in this said Musical 🎼 in our Church's Christain Drama Group in 1975. Wow.
I was among the earlier adaptors of this in my secondary music career - in my district - initially a small project in 1972 and a bigger reworking in 1974. I loved the very first edition of a 20-minute length manuscript the music edition with the yellow cover! It was a perfect ensemble piece. Tim Rice's lyrics full of wit and sass just set this above the many youth-serving 'elaborated biblical tales'. I never got used to the drift to adult public performance where a pay-to-attend performance reprised every song - purely to stretch out the length. Then as is done in this video; adding extra new songs along with added verses to existing content, then more reprises etc etc!!!!
I can't wait to see what show they're choose for the show this week!
Anyway, I hope you guys all stay safe out there♡
That's the spirit! And you stay safe also.
This was my second show that I was in. I was 11 and almost going into the 6th grade. I loved being in this show

I had the whole movie version playing on my phone when I was in the shower once and when I got out I told her I was listening to it and she’s like, “I know, I could hear it.”
Jacob: Joseph's mother, she was quite my favourite wife
Leah: -___-
True story 🤣
I mean it’s true. Jacob was tricked into marrying Leah, he wanted to marry Rachel.
@@ECKohns Yeah it's all trickery, like him taking on the two other women. That's some trick.
@@death2abrahamism FYI: *Leah* first gave birth to *Reuben* (#1), *Simeon* (#2), *Levi* (#3), and *Judah* (#4) and then hit a dry spell. Meanwhile, *Rachel,* who was having trouble conceiving, offered to *Jacob* her handmaid, *Bilhah,* who birthed *Dan* (#5) and *Naphtali* (#6). This inspired *Leah,* who offered her own handmaid, *Zilpah,* to *Jacob,* which produced *Gad* (#7) and *Asher* (#8). *Leah* then became fertile again and had *Issachar* (#9) and *Zebulun* (#10). Finally, *Rachel* got pregnant and gave birth to *Joseph* (#11) and later *Benjamin* (#12). So there.
@@VinMar-m6w Do you feel better?
Why is this song so catchy and gets in my head every day?!!!
Question: Why does a guy in the Middle East need a coat?😂
It depends where and when. I have had to wear a fleece in Cairo after sunset, while the daytime temperature was in the high 20s.
Brian Austin Huh! Fair!
@@emilynorris4263 Without cloud cover, temperature can drop surprisingly quickly after sundown. Dry areas can have cold nights.
To look absolutely fabulous of course. Also it gets cold in the desert for the same reason it gets so hot.
They also wear long-sleeved clothes usually to protect their skin from getting sunburn.
Who ever watched this as a kid and DIDN'T first try to remember all the colours in the right order, and then try to speedrun them and have contests with your friends who could say them all in the correct order fastest.
2:37 When your friends help you to come out to your parents.
That coat was beautiful. I want one!!!!!
i was in a trivia and we had to name as many colors as we can in shortest time. Easy win
My son was totally mesmerized by this play. We had to play the video 3 or more times a day. He is 25 now. Any Dream Will Do is on his favorite songs Playlist. He also has Oh Holy Night by Donny Osmond on that . He listens to it year-round.

Ned Flanders brought me here.
Such a dazzling coat of just one color
How I love my coat of just one color
It was red.
My favorite song is go go joseph and also the beginning to
I once had to explain the plot of this movie to a friend.
They were confused.
Lol!
Aw, I remember being a kid and 100% being on the brothers side, lol. That's what being an oldest sister does to you, plus children are evil monsters, haha.
I love host hey capture how clueless Joseph is to his brothers jealously and hatred for him.
I hope fans aren’t disappointed when they don’t get Waitress, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and The Lion King.
Anjelica Snorcket like what? Give me a few expamples!
I won't be, I'm just grateful they're doing shows for free.
@Anjelica SnorcketHi Anjelica, I will let you run with the baton on this clip. I was exhausted with Starlight Express on the last one, it became ludicrous. Most people seem to have no idea about intellectual property rights.
@Anjelica Snorcket I wish you well, but I am not sure that the money is around for proshots at present. I don't think many people know how expensive they are to make.
I sometimes wonder at Universal's motive for this channel. It must be for PR. Hope they think that it is worth it.
Keep in mind most of these shows were presented live on TV, recorded for sale or for fundraising initially. Disney probably wouldn't allow their shows to be presented on anything but Disney+ now. I would like to see "Into the Woods" (Bernadette Peters) stage production that was on PBS long ago. It has got to be out there somewhere. And if ALW has a production of "Aspects of Love" to show I would be in heaven.
The colors: red yellow green brown scarlet black ocra peach ruby olive violet tawny lilac gold chocolate pink
This videos contrast is way too low, i say we need to up it up 100
Thank you
It took me a sec to realize that they're all wearing stage makeup, & that's why their faces look so... stylized.
Narrator Maria gives order so well
Yaaaaasss let’s goo ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨
This song always went hard
Kid at 2:10 was 100% yawning xD
Yeah im surprised you're the only comment to mention it.
Ned Flanders likes this
The Simpsons
My elementary school put this on in grade 5 or 6 and I still remember every note of this song. I was not even in the cast, I was wardrobe or lights or something. Scott was Joseph. Wherever you are Scott I hope you are well.
I love this movie and I'll watch it again and again
The show must go on!!!🙂
My dad has started crocheting cardigans and coats. He asked what color id like. My obvious answer was a technicolor dream coat.
Love this💕💕💕
I remember writing the Kardashians back in the day, when Scott Disick was still with them. I suggested they sing their version of this song to make fun of his bizarre wardrobe. "How Scott loved his wardrobe of many colors, it was red and yellow and crimson and black and poker and peach and,....."
Who else wanted to see this because of the simpsons episode 😂
I still remember all the order of colors 💯💙💙
Still remember all the colours 🥲
these guys and gals play their stratocasters so well that im sure its a rock show. their melting bodies ensure that im sane af
I'm here because of Ned Flanders
You Have To Admit The Brothers Feelings Towards Joseph Were Within Reason He Was Favored Above Them
Is it just me, or does the staging of this number make the scene look like a bible school sing-along video?
Joseph's mother, she was quite my favourite Wi-Fi.
😂
Is this the most difficult wall of text to remember in all musical theater?
Joes brothers hating on the drip
I mean I wouldn't say Joseph deserved to be sold into slavery, but he definitely didn't do much to stop his brothers from tossing him in a well
one thing I only just noticed, the other brother's totally ouclassed him in fashion before he got the coat. It was like his father was making up for a huge injustice in the first place, he just went a bit overboard lol
Awesome 🤎🤎
If I had a coat like Joseph’s, it’d be a mix of this, Joe McEllderry’s and Jac Yarrow.
I love this production of Joseph. I think it’s is designed for the people who hate musicals because none of the actors can sing
Hence the title, Moshiach ben Yosef...the Yosef of our Day..."a king won't stop and stare..."
My favourite brother of them all was / is Benjamin. Nick Holmes's eyes are absolutely beautiful. I admit I had a crush on him when I was a child back then. 😊
My only criticism is that I've always believed that Benjamin would not have been in on the murderous deal. He and Joseph were full blood brothers by beloved Rachel. Joseph and Benjamin loved each other. Thus the test at the end was to see if the 10 half-brothers would treat Benjamin as they did Joseph. Would they also sell him out? Would they not care about him? Instead they fought for him. Test passed.
good representation of the history of joseph in the bible
just realized at 3:02 the middle chain of kids, the orange kid gets pulled away too fast from the other kid lol
Yup this is it
my gran used to make me watch this when i was wee💀
"the cut was fine" I always thought it was "and that was fine".
