Ricky Gervais himself said he knows that the people in the room are hating what he's saying but that he doesn't care one bit what they think. He's doing it for the viewers at home who he knows are absolutely loving it.
Ricky told Leonardo that he was going to include him in his monolgue, but the rest, he threw them to the wolves! 😂😂
Not Judy Dench. She is a comedy legend in the UK with a dirtier mind than Ricky.
So dirty, she would have acted out his joke on stage!! Everyone in the UK and the British Commonwealth would be peeing themselves with laughter, even more than when we saw this entire host take place.

It’s wild to me that it’s not heard on tv in the US. Over in the uk past 9pm I think certain channels get a lot more relaxed with what they show and a lot of it has swearing and all that

I know this word for word now. It’s funny seeing, while Ricky talks about the various controversies of the time (Epstein, Weinstein etc) but then the amount of celebs we that have since been in scandals in insane (Ellen, Leo, Diddy, R Kelly) - it just proves that Hollywood and celebs don’t ever change. But now since this Ricky monologue, the general public don’t really care anymore because we’re just not surprised
I love that DeNiro and Scorcese and DiCaprio cracked up laughing. Tom Hanks squirmed in his seat and his face looked like he was chewing a lemon with nails in it. Worried about what Ricky knew about him? I love that he called out the hypocrisy and the bit about not using the award to make a political speech was gold. I love that he doesn't give a f*** and just lets them have it with both barrels.
Felicity Huffmam was handed a 14 day prison sentence but she was released after 11 days and she had to complete 250 hours of community service.

Ronan Farrow was the journalist that broke the Harvey Weinstein story. Which started the entire MeToo movement. Harvey, not Kevin Spacey, is the reason for this joke.

4:00 See the confused looks on your faces? This happens when you pause a comedy bit at a random spot and don't rewind before you continue. How so many reactors don't get that is simply baffling to me. My first instinct would be to rewind immediately the moment I realize that I must have missed some important piece of context.

ahhh this clip lacks the part with the female directors.
There were a few actors that stood up to Weinstein but they didnt get any more jobs. There is however a story from one female actress, dont remember who, that Weinstein went after and she refused him and got scared and knew she was toast. However she told Brad Pitt, and he supposedly told Weinstein to lay of it and if he got her cancelled he would kick his ass. Pitt could say that becaue he was just that big of a moviestar that Weinstein didnt dare to oppose him, and he could have kicked his ass too
The actresses knew they would be blacklisted and not work again if they spoke out about Weinstein. Come on now.
Still doesn’t excuse the fact they let someone fall on the sword then spoke up. It’s horrible what he did but it’s also on them to speak up and not after the fact. The man is scum but that’s Hollywood. I know I’ve been there. Thank you so much for the comment. We appreciate you.

Please stop using the word “woke” like it is a bad word and find out the origin before denigrating it. The right (white) wing have co-opted anything that originated with black culture. Woke means to be aware of and attentive to social justice issues. But of course the white wing thinks that is a negative thing.
