    So kind of you to help Ukrainian families.I am from Ukraine as well and we have just moved to Portugal. I can say that every little act of kindness from locals is like a hug and a statement that everything is going to be ok.

    I go to Costco all the time and it’s only 3 of us!
    I love their produce, milk, eggs, PB, cheeses, paper goods/diapers, fish, chicken, cheap clothes and shoes, dry goods like seeds and nuts, condiments, etc etc etc 😁

      Four of us and we got every 2-3 months. We buy our meat and break it down to smaller portions to be frozen, paper goods, cereal, tuna, bottled water for the church music team, the large bag of tortilla chips, trash bags, laundry detergent, you name it!

    Lots of our Ukrainian family is staying here in the US as well currently. My parents immigrated at 30 with 6 kids in tow. I cannot imagine moving with my one child to a foreign country to start over!
    Edit: The refugees singing in Russian at the end was touching. ❤ Praising the Lord for his mercy after they've just escaped war. Wow.

    Love, love that you are canning. I grew up canning with my mom and dad and have been canning for my family for over 40 years. There is nothing better! I want to share a tip… add the jars to a warm water canner, then bring it to a boil, reduce the heat but keep a boil and then start the timing at the boiling point. If your jars have cooled off- cooler that the canner water- the bottoms of the jars will break off and you lose all of your hard work in the water. I love canning!!!!

    Great video again. Wow! Reminded me so much of my kids who are now grown and I am a grandma. Love watching your family and how kind your kids are to each other. It truly reminded me of my days as a mom. Kids, husband, softball, golf What a fun time. I know at times it can be hard but you do such a wonderful job with your littles. Enjoy them. Great job on the canning. Loved your reaction and the lids popping because I still get that way. Thanks for sharing your family with us. Be blessed.

    I had the biggest smile while you were canning. I thought it was a huge chore the first time I tried it. a little practice and its so easy now. I only have a water canner. A pressure cooker makes me nervous. I make pepper Jelly, and jams. This year made blueberry and plum. So glad you tried it. You did a great job.. I am 72 years old; and feel its one of those homemaking tasks that will be a dying art if the younger people don't learn. Thanks for sharing your staycation.

    I'm one of those people who cook without recipes much of the time. It came from not having much money and learning to just use whatever I had in the cupboard. I do sometimes end up wishing that I had measured the amounts so I could make it taste the exact same way again but I do think it is fun to experiment. When I do cook without a recipe it always reminds me of the story about Stone Soup.

    I’ve been canning for just a couple years and the thought of filming at the same time is so overwhelming! Kudos to you! This year I’m learning to pressure can. One thing to keep in mind, altering recipes that you water bath can can change the pH of the recipe and effect the safety.

    • @MeganFoxUnlocked
      @MeganFoxUnlocked  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why I tried to follow it to a tee. But I guess the extra peppers might be enough to alter it?

    • @alisonmellinger559
      @alisonmellinger559 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MeganFoxUnlocked yeah, the vinegar would have been enough to acidify the called for amount of peppers, but not necessarily twice that amount. Some people follow the guidelines more closely than others. I don’t think your jelly would be dangerous, but it’s something that was emphasized to me when I was learning. The Ball website is a good resource! :)

    We're a family of 4 (two kids: 5yo and 1 month) and we love our Costco membership. Usually go once a month or every second month since it's out of town for us. There's a lot of pantry staples we get there but we've also bought a lot of stuff for home renos (pot lights, shower, toilets, etc) so that's also made it worth it to us.

    I've been canning my whole life- learned from my mother. My favorite memory was when each jar lid would 'pop',, my mother would exclaim "Praise the Lord!" or "Hallelujah!" or "Thank You, Jesus!" I have always done the same, especially when you experience jars that don't seal, it's a joy when each jar DOES seal, lol!

    The vlog was alot of fun to watch. Good food ideas. You did a great job at canning. Watching you go through the process of canning made me a bit less scared to try it. It was nice to see Josh in the vlog. You two are very sweet together! Your whole family is adorable!

    I don't like that kind of bulk shopping either, but my kids are grown too. I do go with my grown daughter, who has a membership, and get things like: big laundry detergent, trash bags, dish soap. I find those things are great to bulk up on because I don't have to think about them again for months!!😁
