Leon explains: Future of Paper Charts when planning a sailing passage

Leon ponders about the future of paper charts and printed pilot books and almanacs. In what way will electronics be able to take over passage planning once the Hydrographic Offices cease to print charts when it comes to passage planning? In the near future, Hydrographic Offices will concentrate on producing the actual data, while nautical publishing houses will take care of printing charts on demand - efficiently and customer oriented.
