    Thisnew series ran undermy radar until thismorning. What a glorious landscape around you Philip and Oliver. I tried to take a photo for this but my favorite painting requires abetter camera than my phone. Love tis series as we see people with their favourite art work. Did you notice that there are far more younger viewers shown in animal paintings than in landscape? What a joy and a gift you give us. Congratulations to you both.

    Your first father/son series helped reconnect me to my lifelong love of Art. (It’s never left, just been dulled by depression; even more so my need to make Art). Twenty episodes of “In Isolation” was generous, but I was sorry to see the end of your films...Only to now be delighted to see Philip and Oliver back with a new series! This is exciting, as I’m sure this will be another wonderful collaboration-for which I happily thank you!

      DON'T WAIT!!! I too have struggled with depression (from the age of 9) and am also an Artist. At 60 I said "Oh, what the hell?" and gave myself permission to CREATE. It's WHY we took birth. It's WHY we are here. Since launching into it full force, I am no longer depressed. It was the cause of the depression; thinking I had to find a 'real job' and failing at everything because my heart wasn't IN IT. 5 years in and I couldn't be happier. I am wishing the best for you!

      @@andreaandrea6716: Even though it’s been 2 years since I made that comment, I appreciate your reaching out very much. (You sound like my kind of human). Depression for me goes all the way back, both chronic and acute, and am still struggling in my 60’s with severe AD/H/D, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, CPTSD, and a few other spectrum disorders that often come “bundled” with the foundational/underlying Spectrum Disorder, AD/H/D. Because the commonly associated mental illnesses, also common with these genetics-which skipped me-did not skip my 2 adult children, there has been no shortage of grief in recent years, as well… And don’t even get me started on the (cuss word) Pandemic!
      When it comes to the necessity of Art-making/Creativity, in the context of HEALING, I totally “get it”, Andrea : Art/the Arts got me through a traumatic youth, though I never had the mentoring, training (or diagnoses and therapy) needed to build a career. (Like MANY AD/H/D’ers of my generation). With the addition of physical disability and deep poverty, life has continued to be a struggle. However, I’ve yet to give up on life OR Art. I know that when I get caught up with the issues blocking my ability to create, it will HELP my Depression, Anxiety, etc. But it’s just me here, and I do the best I can-just getting out of bed, some days.
      Lately, the need to get back to CREATING (as opposed to just maintaining), has been uppermost in my mind, so your comment is actually very well-timed support for my doing so… My sincerest Thanks and Best Wishes to you, Andrea, and best of luck with your own Creative Life!

      @@nanwilder2853 I KNOW!!!! All of it. It seems that with depression comes a slew of 'all of the above'. I have it historically too (grandfather committed suicide. My father took anti- depressants. I decided to try everything else). One of the things that I put very little stock in, despite people raving about how 'it changed their lives', is... a gratitude journal. When I finally began keeping one (you list 3 things every day. No repeats and not general; must be specific), I was stupefied by the results. Later, I realized... the act of having to come up with those things (POSITIVE), changed the way my brain works: I always want to recount the things during my day that WENT WRONG. It shifted me out of that. I also used Binaural Beats (subliminals)... free on youtube. (And some one I trust is Elke Neher... for her healing videos: th-cam.com/users/ElkeNeher). I also listened to Abraham/Hicks for 3 years. It's not everyone's cup of tea... but really helped me. I know we have to find the thing that resonates with us... but please don't give up! And even if you only spend 20 mins a day doing some form of Art, for me at least, it is one of the most powerful healing tools in my pencil case! Seriously. Start small. 5 mins. (and if anyone in your head gets critical about what you're creating, tell them to "f*ck off!!"). Creating will remind you of the power of your inner child!!! (SO powerful!!). You CAN heal!!
      Thank you for YOUR encouragement! We ARE all connected. (People just forget that). Nan, Good Luck! Seriously. ❤

    This whole series is something special. Something that connects in a level I've never seen or heard before. Oliver is obviously a great storyteller and producer. That combined with Philip's precence on camera, vast knowledge and charisma really makes for an experience elevated above entertainment. Thank you, again. And hope you will continue, in some shape or form, even after isolation.

    You got a mic! Nice. FYI: if you're cutting in Premiere or Final Cut, there is a way to ease in and out of zooms so they're not as mechanical - unless that's what you're going for. Keep up the good work!

  • @ivorytower99
    @ivorytower99 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Damn, I didn't make the cut, though in one submission, I'd submitted a landscape with horses.
    Had I known there may be a "theme", I could have submitted a shot of a graphite drawn dog.
    It's probably that my pro gear camera is down and I'm photographing with an old flip phone's camera.
    Then again, Oliver probably does not want to live in "(photo) Editing Hell"; trust: I know your plight.

    A good idea. . Many of the pictures are a bit twee, and I could do without the extreme closeups of people's nostrils. Any chance of moving back more into the art education area that 'Art in Isolation' did so well.

  • @teacup.demitasse
    @teacup.demitasse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I loved the Art in Isolation series but this new episode is quite frankly dull. I'll take a hard pass on future thematic montages of people taking selfies next to their framed art. I'd much rather the estimable Philip Mould wax whatever his fancy on the subject of art. His depth of knowledge and perspective and lyrical turns of discourse is the attraction.
