My then friend created a dating profile for me where she talked to people using my identity and now there are more random guys messaging me on instagram 😭 she only told me after she talked to a bunch of guys already. This is one of the reasons why she’s a “then” friend now 😅

True. I actually managed to go through the process, then someone texted me and I was kinda dragged along with the conversation until we somehow suddleny had a date, only one week after matching, no idea how that happened. Up till the date I had severe anxiety and tried to checkmark all safety precautions needed for a blind date with an online guy.
Then I spent the whole date peeking through a window of a cafe opposite of where we tried to meet, heart racing and shaking in the fear that the guy waiting there would somehow pick up my presence and would actually come over. After he left I deleted my dating account. He looked very nice and attractive. I saw us dating and moving together and breaking up and being left alone all in 10 minutes. I left heartbroken.

I would say don’t do it cause it’s a pain in the a** but if you’re like me and is basically a hermit that refuses to go out I’d try it. Don’t take it too seriously though cause none of them are actually looking for anything serious. Most of them are just trying to kill time and the small percentage of people that are serious have severe emotional issues.

I've tried dating app a few times before, and I would delete my account after 1 day every single time. I got tired of replying messages from multiple men. Replying to them somehow felt like a task to me instead of online dating.😔

I tried it twice. But deleted twice in an hour or less. I never go out. So thought perhaps dating app. But it just weirds me out. And the guys who "liked" me were not my type! And thought of actually responding to guy, is scary and going out prettifying! I will probably just be single; unless a miracle happens! Sometimes kind of okay with it and other times not!

As a guy introvert, this is pretty much the exact interaction I have with my outgoing friends any time they talk to me about dating apps.
Side note, the first and only time I tried using online dating, my sister sent me a screenshot of my profile with a big LOL no more than 24 hours after I set up a profile. that's the story of how I had an online dating profile for 24 hours.

I've never been on a dating app in my life, I used to meet guys the old-school way: in a bar, but it sounds incredibly stressful.
I would have hated it. Also, no matter how clever the profile or how accurate the picture is, even if you find them very attractive and interesting, you still can't tell if you'll have chemistry or not before meeting. I've had the greatest chemistry with people I had no romantic interest in or found quite unlikeable and sometimes you are crazy about someone but the chemistry is kind of meh. Why is it so hard?
I dont think meeting people at bars is the best way. What do people go to bars for? To drink, maybe watch a game, but you dont necessarily find out more about who the man really is. I recommend meeting a nice man at a place where you have a mutual interest, maybe an art class, maybe a rockclimbing place etc; and try not to go in with the mindset of "my future husband is here somewhere" but just see it as a fun way to meet people and enjoy yourself. That takes pressure off

honestly im really grateful for dating apps cos I would never go up to a person in real life and the dating app helps make it easier to meet people!!
First observing, texting and than meeting, same on shy guys and people with social anxiety.
Ahhhh but dating app also stress me out. Dude could be dating 10 different people and I wouldn't know cause its not like we see each other in person. Plus they could lie so easily and we wouldn't know cause we can't see their tone and faces! What if when we met they don't like that I don't eat as "faminen" . Plus I look 10x better in camera then in person.

I tried dating apps , but got rejected every single time when meeting in person. They said they don't find me aesthetically pleasing. Came to a point where I decided to never in my life meet someonr first online.
But to others may work out well. I know many people who found their spouse online.
For me was always the same reason of rejection (appearance)
I gave up on online dating when a guy I really felt a connection with bullshited me. He lied the whole time. I was actually starting to like him. I have a limited social battery and free time. Not willing to waste it on that. It is easier to meet people but it also easier for them to lie.

As a introvert girl, this is very true when it comes to dating... I find it hard to put myself out there and meet guys. This is one of the reasons why I take my time, and before meeting anyone, I try to talk on phone or video to the person I like to ease in. Sometimes they don't get it and want to meet asap, which is frustrating to me. Does anyone else have this experience?
Yes I do. Most of them have not been understanding. Whenever they decide to video chat, they would only do it twice or three times. Enjoyed every conversation but most of them want sex or they have someone. I still ask for video or audio chats only praying that I will find a good connection
As an introvert woman, I agree that dating apps are exhausting. But, I'm actually ok with meeting up in a public place with online matches after just a few text conversations. Weeks of phone calls and sitting through video chats are my personal nightmares, plus not a good way to figure out if there's chemistry for me. I once had multiple nice phone convos with a guy for a month or two. When we finally met up, I realized we were not compatible at all :/ Since then, I always asked to meet matches sooner. First dates make me super nervous but I'd rather just get it over with quickly. My current partner asked if we could meet in person after only a few days of chatting online. Everyone has different preferences so I hope you find someone great who is willing to make you feel comfortable by video chatting for longer :)
BTW, the reason some people aren't ok with multiple video chats is because there are lots of catfish online - people with fake profiles. It's easy to pretend to be someone else on the phone or a video chat. Much harder to pretend in-person.

Story of my life- how to find soulmate without meeting them? 😢
I went on a dating app and I just didn’t respond to a bunch of messages because I honestly didn’t know what to say. I mostly got a mix of people looking to hook up and people who wrote essays about why we should date. I did go on a couple awkward dates. I never called them back and they never called me back.
I haven't even gotten that far yet but I feel your pain.
This has actually happened to me in real life. When I was a teenager my friend told some girl "Don't worry he's not shy" and she ended up just barging into my house at midnight while drunk (and while I still lived with my parents).
And then a few years later my friend created a dating profile for me that simply said "Ruthlessly Efficient" as the description. I chose to keep that profile, it was accurate and that was a good friend.

I've found only introverts thrive on dating apps cause as an extrovert you get annoyed by everyone's lack of trying and it's too much swiping. Its like talking to cardboard cutouts lol

Makes me wonder if I'll be single for the rest of my life and die alone but dating sites seems fishy so no. 😂 Interesting how the friend set up the profile tho. Dating apps sound good on paper but in reality i think they are bad.
INFJ here… my ENFP “adopted brother” friend has recently reoffered to “help” me set up online dating accounts… the last time he got his hands on my phone when I was internet dating he completely rewrote my info, deleted half my photos and told me which ones on FB to upload. To his credit he explained his reasoning and *I* got to hit submit. May have offered to do a photo shoot- can’t recall if he was implying that or if it was a resulting nightmare… then he feared he was coming across as overbearing and asked his wife to subtly find out if I had met anyone. XD The interchange a week later went a little something like this:
Her: Sooo have you done anything fun last weekend or are you planning on doing anything fun this weekend?
Me: Did your husband put you up to this?
Her: …
Me: …
Her: ok yes he did. But Do you??
Him *from the other room *: YEAH, DO YOU??
Me: Come I’m here and ask me yourself you coward!
*He skids into the kitchen, slamming into the island. They both look at me excitedly.*
Me: Do you really have nothing better to do with your time?
Him: Nope. At this point in our marriage our idea of fun is figuring out how to get you out there and listening to how things turn out!
