Love how you shit the breaker off. People ask me if they want me to shut the breaker off to install stuff. I always say no thank you, I like to make sure it works while I am installing. ⚡️
The recirc setting and humidity problem is a sign of leaky supply ducts outside of the building envelope. The air escaping the supply ducts must be replaced, so it cones in through every crevice it can from outside. This has been a lonstanding industry myth in the region that also has a lot of bad ductwork added to uninsulated attics. The amount of moisture in the condensate pan should never be enough to make the place humid. It flows away, just like you said yours does. If you do have that much moisture remaining, you have other problems and would have water damage all over the area of the air handler. But, Handy, you've done it again: you've got my engagement. Well done.
I got a similar air conditioner that would not properly fit in our 1970's sideways windows, so I made a video on my channel about how I made an insulated plywood insert to put it in, and then into the window. That so far works great and the similar air conditioner that I got so far works great. I also made a removable insert to be able to put a box fan in when the AC is not on, and that also works great.
Coil cleaner, take the top off and also…. Before hand, hit the disconnect. Spray from the inside and then wash it. Just saying for the condenser coils…..
HVAC trick a retired hvac tech taught me is to blowtorch the crap off the fins and then wash it with the hose. That way the fluffy shit doesn't just wedge itself deeper into the fins.
This sounds like a really bad idea, the type that probably works brilliantly if you're not a complete idiot, and causes catastrophic damage if you are. This is my favorite kind of idea. Thanks!
Nice video but I got to say I'm a little disappointed that you didn't toss the whirligig up in the air, in a spinning motion, and catch it again at some point. Seems like a missed opportunity. Have you messed with the coil cleaning foam much for condensing units or is that just normally used for the evaporator coils?
I cleaned my condenser for the first time earlier this year - which was a good plan since it's been ten thousand degrees for the past month. The HVAC guys that do a yearly tuneup of the system always said they did, but I'm thinking they just sprayed it with the garden hose and left because it was caked on there. It was all hidden by a big metal shroud... which seems like a poor design... but who am I to judge Ruud in their design.
I was listening to a podcast where brock Lesnar talked about Curt Henning Mr perfect. He said the one thing Mr perfect said that stuck with him was get in the ring get your stuff done and get out. It's true in all aspects of making money. Get in get out get paid
Tip from a contractor that does high end resi. Take the old and dated stack switch out. Replace with Decorra stack switch and 2 Decora switches. Use a 3 square nylon finish plate. Even a rental would benefit from improvements. Labor is the main expense, parts are cheap.
If it's just a rental, why did you take the extra effort to align the screws? I don't recall ever seeing them aligned growing up and didn't know that was a thing until about a couple of years ago.
Yeah, he definitely misspoke at best here. It has a return, but it doesn't have outside air to dump the heat to. Otherwise he is right about them pulling a vacuum on the living space. The single pipe style of course. The confusing part for some now is that the two pipe units have the two pipes consolidated into one double pipe, so ... People should just learn to pay people that know things and not just buy whatever a sales person claims will work, and that includes "researching" when you can't tell something is an advertisement or not.
I saw a video where they tested the effect of build up on cooling fins on an air conditioner. They actually found that some build up helped it to be more efficient and it had to be really bad before it hurt efficiency. The theory was that it was because build up added surface area and it only hurt efficiency when air flow was drastically hindered. They were surprised by the results too... I'll try to find the video to post a link.
You have, like, seven kids at home yet you don't put your seatbelt on before driving? ;-) (My uncle died in a "simple" crash because he didn't have his seatbelt on, leaving six kids at home with his wife. My old neighbor had a crash and he squished his younger kid because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt--the neighbor lived, but the kid didn't. Yikes!)

He clocks his screws! 😍😍
the handyman is a savage with those switches...at least the screw heads were lined up. :)
I’d paint everything…. the switches, the plate, the walls, my toe nails, EVERYTHING. Im silly. They call me ruberneck.
🤣
That's a nice touch, wouldn't have to worry about them receptacles and switches not matching the switch plate. The more you know.
We have the problem with moisture in Circ mode with our air con in Houston. Dehumidifier installed in new house.

Future reference, wrap outsides switches in electrical tape so it doesn’t/reduce chance to short onto metal box
0:15 Handyman you're driving on the left, wheel is on the right, you must be in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Nailed it!

Those fins are very thin... the metal shroud keeps them from damage.
On some models, it's very easy to remove the shroud... on others, not so easy.
@@ibealion1 it was a pain to get off. So many screws. I may or may not have put every single one back...
I won't tell the AC police.

Thanks! Handyman Hope the dog shows up on a video soon! 🐶
One thing I have always noticed is that carpet makes a room hotter in warm weather, especially in the south.
Handyman Strikes Again 👊🏼
Something about a Handyman and a Rolex that is just right lol.
Love the WATCH!
it was probably payment for a big job he did....the customer was out of checks!

Yup, decora everything. Makes life way more simple
@@GimpGladly- I decora'd all the switches and outlets on our 1966 home. I like to think it added $10k in value (we live in California)

Actually it pulls air from inside the house and spits warm air to the outside

Hey! Love the content. Do you work with Facility Management companies? Curious to your hourly rate and trip charge. Thanks!
Also, called a high combustion…..Mostly for gas units….
Actually, only for gas units…..
