Join me as I take a photo walk around downtown Milton and also discuss what it means to be an Encourager rather than an influencer in the world of photography and the difference between them!
I can see you've given this quite some thought and I agree that the influencer status is way overrated. I really like the 'how can I help you?' question at the end of the video. Well, these videos are one way you already encourage me to just go out, shoot, develop and most important, enjoy photography. Thanks for that!
Encouragement is the key to getting people to try something new, its the difference between only using one film developer because someone told you so to using many film developer and having options depending on what you want your negatives to look like. Encouragement is also the key to trying new films compared to just using the one you always use! Also a encouraging person invites to have a good and constructive discussion with people where I am able to agree to certain things but more importantly disagree on somethings. Keep up the good work!
I haven't encountered too many negative comments on TH-cam but the groups on FaceBook is another story. God forbid that you get a fact mixed up. I have left several groups because of the open hostility because of a mixed up fact or having a differing point of view. As for a question have you done or can you do a video on using handheld meters. Both spot and larger angle of view meters. What do you actually meter, highlights, shadows or an over all area. Reflected or incident and why one over the other.
@@sophietucker1255 Yes, Facebook is a rough space to work in! I also have left/dialed back participating in some groups! As for metering, I can certainly do a video on that! Thanks for the suggestion and for watching 🍻
Encouragement seems to be hard to find in certain places in photographic social media. I don't know why online presence can bring out the worst in people when it could be helpful. Nothing wrong with being an encouraging influencer.
@@MarksPhoto oh it totally is lacking in areas of Social Media! I think it’s because of the anonymity of being screened by a screen. And you’re right there is nothing wrong with someone who uses their online position of being an influencer and using that to encourage! Thanks for watching 🍻
Lovely walk, lovely images, lovely message. You’ve definitely been an encouraging presence to me.
