wow what a neat mall! clever the way they built it out of old shipping containers. all those neat stores though I'd definitely hit up the five dollar place some of those gaming posters would be pretty cool to have! that praying mantis at the end was really cool though!

This mall looks amazing and the Preying Mantis is awesome! I love how it’s mostly independent businesses. This is a great part of Tony’s legacy I never knew existed until now. R.I.P. Tony.

Hey! I lived in the city for a while and the reason for them not having a map is due to how often the shops change. The 5$ Airbrushed hats used to be a spot for a Kappa Toys store which moved to the Fashion Mall recently. That sticker place also used to be for small businesses like rental bikes or radio stations until it became an art installation. Furthermore, the events at Container Park are always getting packed and extremely lively.

This is so cool!! Me and my wife was there 2 years ago at Halloween time for friends wedding. We only came here at night so we did not see 1/2 of what was there!!! Love it! Keep it up and I hope to go back soon!!! Again love it!!!

I was at container park June 2018. Saw a local concert there in the evening. They had awesome lounges to lay in while you enjoyed the music. It’s a cool place and I would definitely visit again.

Great vid. I literally live across the street from Container Park so I never go in there. I saw the CBD shop, which I had no idea was there, so I decided to go there, see what they have, and give your channel a shout out. It was closed though.Kind of weird because it was 10:30 AM.

I was at a really cool container mall down in Christchurch, New Zealand. It had sprung up organically as many businesses were destroyed by the huge earthquake that devestated the city back in 2011, so they set up in the shipping containers (that were brought in to prop-up buildings that were structurally unstable), it was great to see a place thriving even amongst the ruins. The best authentic thai green curry I've ever had, came out of a hatch on the side of a shipping container in that place!
This reminded me of it, but I just checked it up online to see it's unfortunately now gone after pressure from the local council and developers.

That's always how it goes. Theres a small 3 story mall about this size in Provincetown MA. First floor packed, second floor a few shops, third floor abandoned. Same goes for the Atlantic city mall, though that's doing awful in general now. And south china mall they never even finished the top floor! 😂 But it is a surreal feeling being up there alone and you can see everyone below but they dont notice you. Edit: that light show is very a e s t h e t I c

Three-floor malls seem to have suffered from over-ambitiousness (and conventional malls that are three floors are probably disaster zones now - not enough stores left to support one floor, never mind three!)

My first thought was wow, metal containers in the desert sun seems like a spectacularly bad idea. The fans are running even though you're filming in December. Then again, they build glass towers on the Strip so I'm probably overthinking it. The place certainly looks nice though.

  • @andrester88
    @andrester88 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    All hail the Mantis.
As a vegas local, the container park is definitely geared towards more tourists that's for sure, but there's a fair few locals that like to visit and check the place out. It's really cool that it features a lot of local business rather than your standard big name stores. The biggest named store there is probably the gaming goat.
Also, the 2 biggest "malls" here in vegas are outdoor malls, which is Downtown Summerlin and Town Square. Mainly because those 2 malls have movie theaters, and it's nice to have a movie theater that isn't in a casino.
I suggest taking a look at those malls when you are back in vegas. Downtown Summerlin is more of the upscale place while Town Square is a bit more down to earth. Town Square is easier to get to while Downtown Summerlin is definitely off the beaten path

I recently went to the Container Park and thought it was a nice place for people to hang out without the need of a casino, club, or buffet. When I went on a Saturday afternoon it was mostly parents with their children playing at the tree house. That tree house was pretty cool; I was able to walk up to the second level but didn't go down any slides and the peak was closed off. I do wish there were more eateries and shops. I was hoping to find a cafe of some sort but I couldn't find one nearby. Overall, I think it has great potential and I can't wait to see what it becomes in the future.

There is a new small container park near Spanish Fort, AL. The strange thing is it's literally right next to an existing mall with many vacant stores. I wonder if the mall leases got to expensive so they did this instead. The old mall has a few anchor stores but the small stores are almost all empty.

It is hot as BALLS there in summer bc of the metal so locals tend to only go there at night then. And about half of the shipping containers were actually built just for the park brand new-I watched the company build them. And you HAVE to go down the slide. I’m in my 40s and didn’t die. Here's the thing about that sort of development "revitalizing a downtown". It completely turns inward. A vital downtown does not look like a pile of red boxes. "Let's build an ugly mall downtown" is not a new idea. And typically it was not a good idea.

    • @petermgruhn
