The example tour that I showed 0:11 is Matterport's example project, not scanned by One X or by me. I did scan the home that I was recording the video, but the quality and accuracy is not nearly as good as the example. This is an example that I have done with One X: my.matterport.com/show/?m=ednqt7vcvJ2
Great video. Just wanted to add a life hack for the tripod. A customer unfortunately knocked over my OneX and EVO and scratched all the lenses! The one thing I found that makes the tripod the most stable and practically unknockable, not to mention you can use it on stairs!!! I just use a 2.5lbs Dumbbell weight. The cirle in the middle slides in perfectly. Trust me, you want this outside.
I've watched many other tutorials on the matterport and other cameras, but what makes your video totally different from the others is, you explain very clearly, focused on how to do things, instead of unnecessary data or video special effects of different soundtracks. Up to the point. Very useful and I thank you for this video. Already subscribed and hit the bell.
So I don't need to do any editing for the photos using affinity photo for example? it is enough right? Also, can I get the panaromas to host on another platform of choice If needed? or since I do it in matterport, it is just for matterport only?
No, you can't remove people. But you can blur them from the software. The battery depends on the camera you use. There are more recent models that are better.
Thanks, so the matterport camera output is the same you get from a 360 camera? You are not missing out on anything by using the 360 instead of the matterport scanner?
I just ordered this camera, and plan to use it for my listings. Would love to see more videos with a start to finish "how to" for uploading to Matterport, then to the MLS. Thank you for your videos!!
Do you think using this as a virtual tour service for RE agents and such still viable? If so what's the best way to reach out to them and letting them know about the service I provide?

The video is very nice. I would like to ask a question. When I do all this 3d scan and it is ready in the platform, how will I deliver the work to the client? Will he put a link on his website that there is a 3D tour available and potential buyers will see it through matterport?
Hi! I would like to ask what is the difference between the two insta360 X2 and One RS 1inch 360. I am using insta360 x2 But the problem is when uploading in matterport the image is not that clear. Hope you can give me a clear explanation coz i am just planing to buy the One RS 1 inches. If theres no different the clarity of the image i rather stay on the insta360 X2. Please help me to decide. Thanks. More power to your channel.
It is the Matterport who dictates the quality. I find the pictures off the cameras are often much better than what you see on the Matterport uploads. And RS 1inch 360 isn't compatible with Matterport just yet. Again, that depends on when they decide to take on the newer cameras.

Yeah, their doesn't allow much of flexibility. You can archive unlimited amount of spaces. which means you can't view them. I believe you can go back to free account, and just view one active space? After 5, Matterport will say it can't process more space. You have to archive one to continue.

Random question. I have this exact setup and make tours w/ Matterport for friends and family. I want to start marketing to owners/agents however I'm coming up short on selling them on these tours, even with super cheap prices. What's the best way to market these that will actually attract interest?
It is not random question at all! To be very honest, I do not know. I am not making significant income over these little gigs and my main line of work is offering architectural and modeling services rather than 360 walk throughs.
Your just talking to the wrong type of Real Estate Agents then John.. 1st of all, they are dumb for not wanting to provide virtual tours with everything going on at the moment with Covid 19. I have recently scored a new client with tons of listings, and the 360 tours are one of the main things he is looking to provide for all of them at the moment. I'll bet the agents you are talking to do not list higher priced homes. Smaller listings have little to know budget for the extras outside of just posting photographs to MLS, and those agents want to keep their full commission right now. Seek out Agents that list homes upward of $500k to $1Mill+ or more. They are more likely to have the budget for it, and might possibly be in need of the service if they happen to not be using someone else already. Don't price yourself cheap either.. Don't ever do that actually.. It hurts the market for everyone, and you actually don't end up really making much of anything from it yourself. Research other real estate photography companies in your area to find a median price based on what others are charging for the same service. Try to stay in the same ballpark. If you get really good at it with a quick turnaround, agents looking for good service and good results will have no problem paying you the going rate if not more.
ok so this app it's just for phones or tablets or you can use it on your PC? How do you get your proyect in a link or you can save your proyect and uploaded to your platform?

My childhood home was a weather port on the top of a mountain in Alaska. I have photos, but I wish I could’ve gotten a 3D scan of it so I could let me kids walk through it. And yeah, it’s gone now. Collapsed last year after a heavy snowfall.
How much do you pay to use matterport software? Is this included with the free plan or $9.99? Do you need to pay anything else to extract it from matterport
thanks for this video. Do you normally do a run where you do the 3D scan for the entire property first and then do the 360 shots? Doesn't seem like it matters I guess
@@JosephKim yeah, definitely. Any other advice for 3D scanning? I tried it at my parents' house that has a ton of stuff around. I did scans all over the place and it still came out not super great

Thank you for the useful video. I have a few questions, so I'm leaving a question. I was wondering if I could measure it up to 10 meters high, and if it's possible to connect with the sketch-up and measure the distance, and if the application is free of chargeable.
This is a great video thank you. I am thinking to buy a camera, any update on a camera that would work best for matterport, also what price plan were you using with matterhorn at the time, I think they have three in total.
Hi Joseph! Quite helpful video, thanks for it !!! Could you tell me only just 4 brand 360 compatible with Matterport or can we use 360 cameras that not mentioned in the website of Matterport like GoPro Max??
Joseph Kim thank you I’m really considering starting this in my area I’ve talk to a couple of real estate agents and asked if they would be interested in this as a way to show more houses especially now with the whole Covid thing and they seem to be very receptive I just didn’t know once I go in and capture the images how do I deliver the tour
How long can the camera keep working during the tour? Another question .. When you are done photographing the tour, will you give me how much space in meters that I photographed?
You can measure the area in the tour. Also, I can do about 50-100 locations before battery flats out. Battery is cheap, you should get more if that concerns you.
Hello, thank you for the vid. I am wondering if the file (once completed) can be transfered to a third party software such as lightroom for touch up improvement? Thank you
Hey, quick question about subscriptions to mattersport: I’ve secured a job for an interior designer and I’m trying to figure out which plan I need to do what you just did. Any help or word of advice?
Hey Joseph, thanks for the great video. Just a question, how do you go about charging your clients considering Matterport pricing plan? or do you create an account for client and let them take care/pay for however long they want to put the project public? Thanks!
That's a very good question and actually is one that I am asking myself too. I tried to build the 'maintenance' cost into the price, so I just manage under my account. YMMV.
Cool and nice job... Is it possible to scan a hole garden.? And what about a bush? Is it possible to use the scans as a component in SketchUp.? How about the file size or complexity for use in SketchUp.? (If possible) Best regards JPJ, Denmark (Hope you soon will bring the review about Oculus quest as well 😉)

I have been using Kuula. Its not as "immersive" just like @josephkim said, but it gets the job done. You will have to do a bit more work though (placing the circles down yourself, connecting photos for walkthrough, etc), but I prefer Kuula since Matterport has "blown out" every scan that I've done with insta360 one x (looks grainy and unprofessional).

It gets uploaded on the Matterport's server and hosted from there. It is done only on iOS devices or Android
@@JosephKim Sorry to bodder you that much but how? in my pc appear all I done in my phone but I can't not share or copy my link , is because I'm in the free version?
@@papolini109 there is no way to share via link if you are on the free tier. You can read up on Matterport's website for that
What app are you using on the iPad??
Matterport Capture.
@@JosephKim okay I thought so! They changed the icon so I was a bit confused! Thank you 🙏
My childhood home was a weather port on the top of a mountain in Alaska. I have photos, but I wish I could’ve gotten a 3D scan of it so I could let me kids walk through it.
And yeah, it’s gone now. Collapsed last year after a heavy snowfall.
Oh no. I'm sorry to hear that
Can I use Matterport with my Insta360 ONE X2 to create levels or digital sets for Unreal Editor, Maya and After Effects?
I don't think that is possible atm. There are some other methods to scan for actual point cloud data.
@@JosephKim I was hoping I could do something like this with photogrammetry software.
How much do you pay to use matterport software? Is this included with the free plan or $9.99? Do you need to pay anything else to extract it from matterport
You have to pay extra to check out the files. You can create the experience with the free plan.
Hey are there any specific settings you are using to get the premium snapshots or are you using standard settings?
Standard settings.
I guess when I look at it on my phone it seems more pixelated than viewing on a computer
@@jforman245 the preview images are not the final quality
thanks for this video. Do you normally do a run where you do the 3D scan for the entire property first and then do the 360 shots? Doesn't seem like it matters I guess
Yeah, it doesn't really matter. But I think getting both is quite important. 360 photos seem to have better quality than matterport.
@@JosephKim yeah, definitely. Any other advice for 3D scanning? I tried it at my parents' house that has a ton of stuff around. I did scans all over the place and it still came out not super great
It will lack the quality, but I feel that it has most of "info" to be intact
Great video! Is it possible to scan outdoor object? I am thinking of scanning a historical cave site, including outdoor part of it, and nearby rocks (uncovered). Thanks.
Yes, absolutely. just make sure you got good amount of light!
Hi Joseph, What Apps do you use in the video?
Just Matterport Scan app!
very well done and helpful sir. how accurate is that measuring vs the matterport camera?
Accuracy is much lesser than Matterport camera. But they state with number on their website.
Thank you for the useful video. I have a few questions, so I'm leaving a question. I was wondering if I could measure it up to 10 meters high, and if it's possible to connect with the sketch-up and measure the distance, and if the application is free of chargeable.
I do not think it can measure 10m, and the application is not free.
This is a great video thank you. I am thinking to buy a camera, any update on a camera that would work best for matterport, also what price plan were you using with matterhorn at the time, I think they have three in total.
I'm in the basic plan, but will be moving up to professional soon. I think most of the people can get away with basic.
It is able see on mobile or link work only on pc?
For Matterport, you can see it on both.
@@JosephKim on app must see or directly threw link on safari will show?
Can you give link your if have
Hi Joseph! Quite helpful video, thanks for it !!! Could you tell me only just 4 brand 360 compatible with Matterport or can we use 360 cameras that not mentioned in the website of Matterport like GoPro Max??
Only the compatible ones. :)
If you’re working with real estate agents Do you just send them the link to the tour or is there a certain way that you go about that
Yeah, I just send them the link :)
@@oniINapolaroid you just have to try once to figure it out :)
How long can the camera keep working during the tour?
Another question .. When you are done photographing the tour, will you give me how much space in meters that I photographed?
You can measure the area in the tour. Also, I can do about 50-100 locations before battery flats out. Battery is cheap, you should get more if that concerns you.
@@JosephKimThank you
Hello, thank you for the vid. I am wondering if the file (once completed) can be transfered to a third party software such as lightroom for touch up improvement? Thank you
Unfortunately, no. That is the biggest limitation for the Matterport scans.
@@JosephKim Thank you ;-)
Hey, quick question about subscriptions to mattersport:
I’ve secured a job for an interior designer and I’m trying to figure out which plan I need to do what you just did. Any help or word of advice?
Sign up is free, and you can test things out with free account. Then you can simply upgrade to better plan as you see fit!
Joseph Kim awesome! Thank you so much. Gonna give it a good ole college try. Keep on making the awesome content, you gotta new subscriber.

YMMV.
Thanks for the link to the mini Tripod. Can you also link to the monopod you screw into it? Thx

@@arshadbutt2466 it actually is small enough to fit in residential stairs.
Cool and nice job...
Is it possible to scan a hole garden.? And what about a bush?
Is it possible to use the scans as a component in SketchUp.?
How about the file size or complexity for use in SketchUp.? (If possible)
Best regards JPJ, Denmark
(Hope you soon will bring the review about Oculus quest as well 😉)
It is possible to scan the garden. The file format they provide is obj with a fee, which you can bring to SketchUp. It will have some missing details however.
I know, I know, the Quest video is in the works :)
Thanks again for your brilliant work.
@@tatedesmet I think it should work without much problem :)

I don't think it is supported yet.

@@JosephKim what do you think about 360 camera ista360 OneX and Ricoh Theta V 360

Hi Joseph! 'Processing HDR' - this is default setting or need additional settings on camera / app / or...?
Yeah, that's normal.
on your camera photo setting, you can turn on or off. like mine, I turn on the HDR mode for crisper quality
@@FadhielahSufian Hi How to enable HDR camera mode in Matterport scan process? Through the physical settings of the camera or Matterport Capture app. I started to study the workflow. I still don't understand
Wow this is super useful and everything is already so advance compared to when i just start the 360
Yeah!
I am wondering if there is a software similar to matterport as I want to get away from matterport. I am not talking about hardware, it's the software and cost that is the cost now... Thanks, great vid.
I definately agree with the cost part. But the quality really is unmatched elsewhere. There are some that are free, but seems to miss out immersion.
The ones I know are cloudpano and cupix
I have been using Kuula. Its not as "immersive" just like @josephkim said, but it gets the job done. You will have to do a bit more work though (placing the circles down yourself, connecting photos for walkthrough, etc), but I prefer Kuula since Matterport has "blown out" every scan that I've done with insta360 one x (looks grainy and unprofessional).
Hi Joseph, what photo settings do you use in the Insta 360 to get a decent image quality in Matterport? Thank you in advance!
Currently, you can't change photo settings with Matterport.
Hey which Settings Are the best for the Camera? I dont know Why the Camera quality is so Bad in my Matterport App!
Unfortunately, you can't change any settings. Matterport seems to be downgrading the quality. My tip is to get as much light as possible.
