    Wasn’t there something about one of his “roommates “ at the military base who would spy on him and send informations about him to his girlfriend? And that’s why he was given a private room at the hospital

    Jiyong was always depressed dude, he never tried to hide that, which is probably why the military did that investigation. Can Koreans just understand that celebrities are humans too?

    • @haru-__-
      @haru-__- 5 ปีที่แล้ว +444

      I totally agree with you. This goes beyond his knee injuries or any other physical situation. The investigation must have been about his mental health. This country needs so much help regarding mental health but not much is being done. Even I, as a foreigner in Korea sometimes get depressed and I have no idea how to handle it or where to look for help. It's serious. Celebrities have it rough too. I don't think just because he is the amazing G Dragon he's gonna be having an easy time in the military. He's human just like the other people serving.

      'Can Koreans just understand that celebrities are humans too?' It's not just the Koreans, even though I think that the Korean Media sometimes is a bit more dramatic than other countries when it comes to things like scandals and the 'who is dating who' question.
      But if you look at fans from other countries and what they want from their idols and celebrities, there really isn't much of a different, sadly.

    1 ) Gd is not an ordinary celebrity
    2 ) He always suffered and struggled with depression issues
    3) After his motte tour he lost a lot of wieght and u all can see how skinny he is
    4) In one of the concerts he injured his ankle and neglected it so because of military training it will obviously be worst and need a surgery , he also suffered from tendinitis in his shoulder
    5) Soldiers were stalking him and revealed his body informations like the size of his anderwears (yikes)
    and after allll this korean media is creating unecessary scandals for him , even the minitery of defense released a statement about his issue , aren't there bigger issues in korea than this ?!
    jiyong is human too , i hope knetzs will understand that someday especially that i see many actors who don't suffer from anything who get public work but why not jiyong who suffers both mentally and physically , hypocrisy indeed

    • @Em-ah
      @Em-ah ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jpjay1584 your comment appears to me to be a little simplistic, naive and possibly libelous. 1. Physical exercise - probably the cause of the worsening of G Dragon's long term ankle injury. 2. Not too many distractions - G. Dragon is a naturally shy person. Going into an environment where probably everybody has already heard of you and already formed an opinion of you based on media reports, (maybe like you?) is going to be even more challenging than if you arrive as an unknown person. Most people don't react around celebrities in the same way as they do around others. E.g. a fellow soldier made a diary on him, including very personal information, and it ended up online! One of my school friends appeared as a child in a short TV series. This spread around the school and even though her "fame" was very minor compared to G Dragons, it affected how many people saw her. Jealousy, envy, judgemental, dislike, curiosity, wanting to put her down, wanting to become her best "friend." A lot more to deal with than if he had joined as an unknown person. Even you have put drug parties in your comment, implying that was his normal lifestyle prior to joining the army - based on what!!!??? A media story from years before - that was shown through evidence to be non-intentional and extremely slight? Additionally, G Dragon has a history of depression, which would make this experience even harder for him. I have read of many celebrities who have much lesser concerns, who go straight into the public service route. Add on the mental stress of knowing that your close friend has tried to commit suicide and the other external factors that would affect him. Although it is a privilege to be able to support your country in this way, and soldiers that complete this service have a right to be proud of their achievement, I have never heard of anyone who said it was easy. You make it sound like a resort!

She brought Adderall or something over from the U.S., where she got the prescription, and she was taking it for ADHD or something like that. They framed her as a drug-addict. I think GD or another k-pop artist was involved in another "scandal" because of some lewd dancing with a woman on stage with a bed prop. Korea's hype with "scandals" is ridiculous imo.

    I totally agree with the private room for GD. You are exactly right, if I saw gd I’d low key freak out too. Plus it would be weird to be trying to get medical care and to have random people annoying you. In the US you most likely get a separate room for care and if you’re on extended stay you can get room for 1 - 4 people. When I was in the hospital for a while I had a 2 person room and I hated when guests visited my roommate...especially kids when parents can’t control them. Thank you headphones

    During his motte world tour, your can literally see how unhealthy jiyong looked. He didn’t only look skinny, but also exhausted. He was clearly going through some mental health issues, most probably depression based on the signs that he has shown. This is probably way he didn’t pass the fitness test to get promoted. But as for the 100 days I can’t say much, you probably know about this far more. I respect Korea’s mandatory military service and do believe that people should not be exempt from it just because they are a celebrity.
    I hope he finishes his service well and comes back in good shape. I also really hope that he is holding up well with the seungri scandal. He must be devastated. Usually when people who are suffering from depression are getting better, if something really bad happens it can cause them to be triggered and can go back to their old state. I hope this doesn’t happen to him.

      Lu tian xing depression doesn’t mean that you are sad and crying all the time. Most of the people that are depressed don’t even show it to people. They look happy and normal like everyone else. It’s the way people act and think when they are alone, you can tell if a person is really depressed. Gd has said in many interviews that after concerts he always feels very lonely and also when he is alone he feels very empty. He also lost a lot of weight due to stress. If you watch motte the movie, you can tell how much stressed he was and kinda tell how he was feeling. Sorry for writing so much, I also want to say that this is my own opinion and understanding of him based on what he was going through. Hope you understood~

      What i didn't state and should have, Was more of understanding that perhaps he struggling with something that we may not see and maybe some of those days were taken just because he wasn't in the right frame of mind and should have been on active duty to begin with. We have a huge problem here in the US of soldiers struggling with depression and anxiety and not getting treatment for it but because the military over there will not disclose why he had those days we don't know if maybe he was getting treatment for something or if he was just trying to fart around. In any case that's between him and his commanders it's not up to us to judge. Of course I don't think there should be special treatment because everybody in the military is military no matter what but as long as they were approved that he to and he took the right steps then we can't say whether it's right or wrong.

      @Ilerre i actually watched act iii: motte the other night and as a teacher, i was like, "damn, if ever there was a kid with ADD and vast amounts of artistic talent, that's one right there." He also seemed to be struggling with anxiety. I think his artistic side gives him the outlet as therapy for it. I just don't feel everyone is meant for military service. IMHO, this is not a person i'd recommend for active duty. But that's just me. I like the idea of mandatory service in theory but, in practice, there should be alternatives to military.

      @@Written_in_the_Starssnope. Just teachers brain. I work with young children with severe emotional issues daily. And i have anxiety too. So it's easy to recognize. It takes a strong person to battle a hidden illness and push through. Not everyone has coping mechanisms. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who has basically been working and sheltered for their entire life. They don't know what it's like in the real world. We all have struggles- paying bills, parenting, etc. These idols get groomed to be perfect from early adolescence. Part of my job is to teach coping mechanisms and be real with my kids. But if you have a kid that's had those struggles hidden, he/she wil not be able to function in society at large. Honestly, i have huge issues with kid stars, even in the US. I can tell you how so many former child stars here have committed suicide or ODed because they couldn't handle real life once the fame and money were gone. All these idols being forced into the reality of life for everyone else in such a drastic way (joining the military is a big deal), is no joke. It's a literal shock to the system. If they have previously undiagnosed mental issues, it can lead to severe trauma and stress and have life changing effects. We have enough psychos over here shooting up schools and churches that it's a huge societal issue. That's why i stay doing my job. Mental health is not taken seriously enough all over the world and opening up the conversation about how real that stuff can be is more important than anyone's perfect image.

    G dragon has always had problems with depression, he's never made the effort to hide that fact so I think that knowing this it was completely necissary to do the investigation just in case. Not only because he's struggled for a while with it but on top of that he's an idol and the stress can be worde for them.

  • @conniead5206
    @conniead5206 5 ปีที่แล้ว +257

    I have a crappy memory, so I can't tell you where or when, but G-Dragon did seriously injure his ankle on stage. He finished the concert but had to be carried off and there are plenty of pictures of the accident and dealing with it after. It always seemed to me that he changed the way he performed since. After how fans inundated the base with e-mails, mail, etc., when he first joined I can understand why THEY sent him to a less public hospital. At the hospital it wouldn't just be family of other soldiers, but lots of friends of families of soldier patients trying to get in, e-mails, gifts, and so on and so forth inundating it. But I heard that he was not receiving very good care where he was sent. All it takes is for a higher up in the hospital not liking entertainers for that to happen.
    As far as issues in the military, that is on the military. A guy is free to ask, but it has to be approved. And where could he go without it ever being discovered? Again, to leave the base it needs approval from higher ups, be it a sargeant, lieutenant, or whatever. If he wasn't really having problems then there are still problems among longer term personnel despite the changes made after Rain's scandal. If the rumor about the poor care is true or not, maybe most of his problems are tied to his ankle injury.

    He was probably depressed or dealing with other mental health issues, which counts as sick leave, as well it should. Mental health is important. This reason would make sense to me. Being an idol is pretty stressful. Being one of the most famous idols, and being put in with a huge group of normal people who act weird around you is probably even more stressful. There's a reason that idols have bodyguards and stay secluded most the time. The world is quite rough and overwhelming on them at times.

    Truthfully. I felt he should not have passed and forced to seek treatment first. He was injured in concerts but endures it until they found out while in services. He aggravates an injury that probably should have healed faster. My speculation is that the sick leaves are him seeking outside treatments. Is it unfair to ordinary soldiers, probably but but do ordinary soldiers have millions invested on you. GD is not only an artist but a sure investment and YG will do what it can to protect its investment. Though I am sure what YG and the Military do treads a fine line of legality.

    GD sitting vulnerable in a hospital bed? Open to the public? Trying to sleep, rest, and who knows, if hes not looking his best someone could take photos in the middle of the night, who knows what bad things could happen. It has nothing to do with integrity. It's mandatory because they were first military ran and were in a consistent state of war for over 50 years with Nkorea. USA used to have mandatory enrollment. Most countries activate it when their country is in a consistent state of war. They would never inactivate it because 2 communist countries that surround them, they've already went to war with. It's to help prepare them, since that country crumbled and would have been defeated if it wasn't for the US. It's to assure the survival of that country against any other foreign entity, since they are in a vulnerable position with where that country is located and who surrounds them. It's not integrity or respect.... it's for survival of the democracy of that country. Even though it's crappy at protecting the women.

      I get the basic ideas of mandatory military service and the pride of serving (my aunt wanted to be pilot in the navy so much she lied about having seizures and got dishonorably discharged for lying, but still talks proudly about being in the military), I think the issue is there are some things that don't click just on a human level. like gdragon had his ankle injury beforehand and it was known to be chronic, in the U.S. even during a draft he would be put in non-active duty job or depending on severity wouldn't be admitted at all. Then if an injury that severe happened during service they might be put in the reserves while they heal or discharged in case putting someone back out on duty would make the injury worse again. For G-dragon specifically it seems like he should have been put in a desk job like t.o.p instead of back on duty where he could injure his ankle again and the fact that this stuff keeps coming up for g-dragon is like forcing him to continue on active duty and that could completely destroy his leg

    I love *BIGBANG* for a very long time.
    We fall in love with an idol when we are young and grow up together in all these many years. My no.1 is T.O.P who himself has more than enough problems. When idols join the army, we realize that they aren´t just superstars, but also men who have to do their military duty. And this in Korea, a country where military service is still very important. In my country, that doesn´t exist anymore. For us fans it´s really hard but also for the idols begins a new period of life. And that's hard when you're not ready and have no choice. For me, GD is a very soulful artist with a fragile soul and I can easily imagine that he´s the one with the hardest time there. And when you have mental pressure, you notice a lot more of physical pain. If you have always been protected and lived in your own little world, it´s even harder to sleep in a room with many unknown persons and to follow the military drill. And now the Seungri scandal makes it even harder for all of them.
    I appreciate your very great reports that you never really judge someone. You explain the facts. Thank you for your hard work. ♥

    Omg honestly as an international fan I get so mad at most likely new fans bashing’s South Korea about their law for men and their military service. They don’t understand why it’s necessary, yeah it’s sad your oppas going but it’s sad that the country has to do it for their safety of a possible war that would happen at any time.

      like I'm sorry but Korea is/was not the only country in the world having similar geopolitical situation.
      If you really want to prepare for war, in TWENTY FIRST CENTURY, you start with including women too. Let's start from there. I'm just gonna remind that alternative service exists too. And to country which do not have such big man power as let's say US, it would be wise to ged rid of patriarchal remnants and start to do some changes.
      Being not Korean doesn't have anything to do with your inability to form an opinion on political matters.

      as a women I feel like treating women as useless soldier's home wives do not bring any good when women can learn a lot of ways how to serve as for example medical support. or SELF-DEFENCE for starters because we all know what happens with women during the fuxking war.

      Lithuania.Is.NOT.Russia ugh I already know they aren’t smh, but am I talking about the other countries involved? No I am on a Korean Video.
      Women in Korea have the choice to serve the army or not, so it’s entirely up to them and in my opinion they shouldn’t be forced. I’m being old fashioned with they should stay home and look after the children or elders, because who else would? That is saving too, you don’t have to carry a gun to save lives. Little things matter too. If these women want to serve the army then they can, it is open for them but to make it compulsory for ‘equality’ is stupid.

      There's a reason woman are not the first choice for battle. If captured, their punishments are far worse than any man could ever receive. Woman are simply built differently. After puberty men develop muscle fibers are thicker and develop extra muscle groups on their bodies. Making them naturally stronger and faster. Combat between a man and woman is an unfair match, which is why men can go to jail for hitting a women. It's just common sense why women should not be at the forefront.

      On top of the fact women in the military have a higher increase chance of being raped and or beaten. SKorea is not known for having amazing protection of women's rights. Women in the military shouldn't even been on the list of things that country needs to focus on and change. Their healthcare system should be top priority.

      Sick leaves exist but there has to be a reason for u getting extra vacation days (sick leave). Sick leave is not being hospitalized at a military hospital. Its staying outside of military and going to civilian hospital

    I heard he only took total of 70ish days not 100. From what you explained it seems to be bad but if the military allows him to do so and says that it's completely acceptable, do you think they have good reason? Maybe he really needed to go to hospital?
