These are California poppies, their State flower. They are very small compared to most poppies. The desert in bloom like this is rather rare. I grew up in the Mojave desert near Antelope Valley. Thank you for this beautiful landscape so near my home! 🤗

Just finished trying this tutorial. The background part turned out quite good but I terribly messed-up with the front part, need more and more practice. Throughout the process, I learnt so many things. I must say, you PUT lots of effort to make every painting magical💖

California Poppies are my ABSOULTE FAVORITE flower! You did such a lovely job of rendering them in nature! I found it interesting to notice that your bright yellow has wells where you go to grab yellow with warm/cool colors. Very clever!! I think my own yellow (and white) watercolor wells will be developing warm and cool holes soon! ;)
