About the title. Daniel Farrands, in his infinite wisdom, jokingly suggested calling it "The Curse of Michael Myers" due to the film's production being seemingly cursed from the get go. Unfortunately, Moustapha Akkad took this literally and ran with it. It's bad enough knowing that the titles of the last three Halloween sequels match the titles of the Pink Panther sequels (Return, Revenge, Curse) but knowing that this is nothing more than an in joke makes me want to run through the streets with a rusty carving knife.

I was watching the actual movie last night and was thinking, "my god. Paul Rudd is so bad in this movie." It was his first movie so it explains a lot. You watch a movie like Ant Man or Role Models and its amazing how much he's grown as a actor.
Paul Rudd is awesome in both comedic and dramatic roles. Even this early in his career he had movies that he was great in. His "Halloween 6" performance isn't good, but in a "not give a fuckery" kind of way, which still makes him one of the more entertaining things about it.

Ironically, I watched this in my early teens and thought it was awesome. Now as an adult and a professional editor, this is really some of the most half-assed editing I've ever seen.
This movie really pissed me off because "Thorn" was a rune and the legend was celtic. My nerd rage broke out and i shouted at the screen (this was when I was watching it a couple years ago), "CELTS DIDN'T HAVE RUNES YOU MORONS!!! THEY HAD OGHAM!!!"... Nerd rage...it gets the best o you man.
Sadly as it seems, Runes have become one example "Exotic Magical Bullshit" that writers (or producers) use when writing about an "exotic" and "mysterious" culture that isn't Europe or North America, e.g. Celtic peoples, Scandinavian Cultures, India, Tibet, Ancient China, Japan, Native Americans, various Mesoamerican cultures, Polynesia, etc. Pisses me off doubly as both a history buff and one who does not care for lazy writing and skipping over opportunities given by doing a bit of damned research.

I think they meant for the Thorn Cult to have GAINED control over Michael for their purposes. The Thorn Cult didn't have control of him before, instead having gained control of him after they broke him out of jail in the fifth movie. Makes more sense to me. YES! Every since you started making Halloween videos in October, I couldn't wait until Halloween 6, the worst one of all, and the first film of Paul Rudd! And its finally here! hurrah!
Here's something I like about the threatical cut though, one thing that it has over the Producers Cut; it handled the cult and curse subplot and Michael's villainy a lot better. This is something i figured while watching both cuts side by side. Think about it; a big complaint about the movie is how cheap it made Michael as a villain due to the curse, *but* the curse is only really a problem in the Producers Cut were Michael is explcilty supernatural and a puppet to the cult which gets more emphasis in that cut. In the Threatrical Cut, not only certain scenes cut and dialouge altered but some of it was relating to the curse - as far as the Theatrical Cut goes, Michael is a rage driven rampaging psychopath, and not even the "cult" are all that believers in the superstitions.The curse in that version is simply another characters theory that was never explored and ultimately held no weight, a Red Herring if you will. I think this is best emphasized if you watch the scene were Wynn talks to Loomis about Michael from the two cuts; in the Theatrical one, Wynn just says that Michael is pure evil. And again with Jamie's theatrical death, were Michael pretends to have been reached out to, possibly mocking that tear scene from the fifth movie. Just my two cents though. I will say the Producers Cut did Donald Plesance and the Strode family more justice.

Truth be told, I like Curse quite a bit but only the producer's cut. It feels almost like a return to form with its tone and scares. And I really admire Daniel Farrands' attempt to connect all of the movies and explain why Michael is invincible even though it butchers the whole point of his character. A noble failure if you will.
The only things I mainly remember from this movie is: Grandma (who I swear vaguely looks like Gary Busey) basically saying that Michael Myers heared Littlekuhribo's "Kill your family" thing playing in his head on loop and went insane. Oh and it looks like Antman got his "psych hitler" moment with the whole "pretend to give Michael the baby but then jabs him with the needle" thing.
My hope is, after the HALLOWEEN series is finished, Brad picks another horror franchise to review every October. I wouldn't mind seeing him riff on Critters, Species, Child's Play, or even Hellraiser.

I think they meant for the Thorn Cult to have GAINED control over Michael for their purposes. The Thorn Cult didn't have control of him before, instead having gained control of him after they broke him out of jail in the fifth movie. Makes more sense to me. And thus, I have decreed, and thus it is so!

Donald Pleasence really got a raw deal with his movie. Nearly all of his scenes being cut and he died shortly after completing his work on it.
Here's something I like about the threatical cut though, one thing that
it has over the Producers Cut; it handled the cult and curse subplot and
Michael's villainy a lot better. This is something i figured while
watching both cuts side by side.
Think about it; a big complaint
about the movie is how cheap it made Michael as a villain due to the
curse, *but* the curse is only really a problem in the Producers Cut
were Michael is explcilty supernatural and a puppet to the cult which
gets more emphasis in that cut. In the Threatrical Cut, not only certain
scenes cut and dialouge altered but some of it was relating to the
curse - as far as the Theatrical Cut goes, Michael is a rage driven
rampaging psychopath, and not even the "cult" are all that believers in
the superstitions.The curse in that version is simply another characters
theory that was never explored and ultimately held no weight, a Red
Herring if you will.
I think this is best emphasized if you watch
the scene were Wynn talks to Loomis about Michael from the two cuts; in
the Theatrical one, Wynn just says that Michael is pure evil. And again
with Jamie's theatrical death, were Michael pretends to have been
reached out to, possibly mocking that tear scene from the fifth movie.
Just my two cents though. I will say the Producers Cut did Donald Plesance and the Strode family more justice.

Another really good comedy film.. both versions are funny but this one is pure slapstick lol.
Truth be told, I like Curse quite a bit but only the producer's cut. It feels almost like a return to form with its tone and scares. And I really admire Daniel Farrands' attempt to connect all of the movies and explain why Michael is invincible even though it butchers the whole point of his character. A noble failure if you will.
The only things I mainly remember from this movie is:
Grandma (who I swear vaguely looks like Gary Busey) basically saying that Michael Myers heared Littlekuhribo's "Kill your family" thing playing in his head on loop and went insane. Oh and it looks like Antman got his "psych hitler" moment with the whole "pretend to give Michael the baby but then jabs him with the needle" thing.
!! So many big actors have come from these horror franchises, that's awesome! :D
