    I have the same one. It replaced a Harborfreight bench top press of the same size. You can't go wrong with any of them really. You guys may not be as old as me but I remember buying my first bench top press for $40 and you know what, 20 years later it's still working for a family member I gave it to. No they aren't production grade or industrial so don't expect that. They are great for wood and small to moderate sized spade bits but they lack the power for large forstner bits. But that's not why you buy these for. I use my floor standing press for the forstner bits and even rosette cutter bits that work well. If you have a lot of small repetitive holes to drill or are just a weekend warrior these kind of presses are just fine.

    This definitely does the job and I didn't want to invest too much when I wasn't sure how often I would use a drill press after the one project I needed it for, but now I use it a lot and wish I could adjust the table height with something like a crank instead of just the clamp, so I could preserve the x and y positioning.

    Wow - one of the best reviews of anything I have seen or heard. No umms, awkward pauses, lack of direction, or mutilation of the english language. Thanks for this review - just what I was looking for.

    What vise do you have for this drill press. It's a nice size, but the table isn't that big and I don't want to buy too big of a vise. Thanks.

    Most negative posts I've seen about this press are by people who bought it for the wrong reasons. Yes, it's small, yes, it's lightweight, yes, it's limited, yes, it's not super powerful, but for me a hobbyist small woodworker, it's perfect. I won't be using it for mega production, just the occasional odd job, drilling, sanding, polishing and for less than $100, can't be beat. Well happy with mine.

      @@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ You're welcome, I had originally ordered the 10" but returned it because it was too much press for what I needed in size, weight and performance for the space I have and work I need to do. Thanks Tom for this quick review. I have a few questions.
    1. Does the depth stop works precisely. Say I want to drill a 1/8" hole and exactly 1/4" deep. Can it do that?
    2. Does it come with any tool to clamp the workpiece on the table? Or I just use regular clamps?
    3. Does it take existing hand drill bits? I have many bits from 1/8" to 3/4" thick shafts.
    4. Is the maximum depth of a hole 2" or can you if needed drill through a 3" stock?

    • @TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
      @TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for Watching! The stop is not overly accurate. No clamps are provided. It does take hand drill bits. 2” is max

    Hey Tom... Looks like our interest run together! Good review on a simple drill press. I wish someone would make one that would come with the components to convert it into a milling machine without having to buy a bed and adapt to the press. Maybe someone does, haven't looked yet. I would say if you plan on doing a lot of wood working this bench press may get you by or if your a weekend warrior building bird houses, or something small. I wouldn't trust this bench press to drill into any metallic object's other than a beer can honestly I would suggest buying a more reputable brand name, I got a Ryobi 10 inch for about $190 with a protection plan just as easy to set up, Just remember you get what you pay for.

    i got one exactly like that(bar handle tip shape and key holder) from canadian tire, maybe wen finishes their castings better but the canadian tire version was extremely hard to adjust for a straight quill. at the bottom of the travel it would kick over a bit, if i could have adjusted that out i wouldn't consider it junk. it was about 80 bucks, the wen in cdn on amazon is about 200, i'd need to be sure of a rock solid warranty after that fiasco, however, if you didn't push it down all the way it was really nice, perfectly accurate.
