@@whowhat.wherewhen well, making shoes is way more difficult than making clothes like dresses and corsets I believe... So a good idea would be some green or brown boots, I just really love boots I think they are really comfortable and cool.
Step 1: "I wouldn't be a pile of leaves without all of you." Step 2: Singular leaf suggests leaf skirt. Step 3: Make entire leaf dress. Step 4: Apotheosis into some sort of autumn demigoddess or cryptid. 🍁🍂👑🍂🍁
I do a lot of historically inspired costumes and the other historical costumers are always like “sewing is so slow and thoughtful and relaxing” I can’t relate to these people I’m a screaming chaos goblin with a roaring sewing machine
I made a Poison Ivy costume years ago and definitely used the machine to “stitch” the leaves. It definitely went faster but DO NOT LOOK AT THE INSIDE! I love that the color pattern kind of reminds me of a phoenix :)
My autumn plans include sewing a dress out of this celestial print bedsheet I found at the goodwill, and wearing it to the apple orchard along with the witch hat I crocheted, and proceeding to pick way too many apples and tiny gourds whilst looking like an astronomy prof from Hogwarts. ✨
I am truly disgusted that the algorithm has waited until now to recommend me your channel, does it even know me at all?! You're awesome, the dress is epic and I love your cat, I have an opinionated tortie, too ❤️
“My normal mock-up fabric, that looks like it went on an unsuccessful date with Edward Scissorhands” Or it was very successful, depending on your point of view 😂 Love the dress!
Got heavy Micarah Tewers vibes from this one! I really admire you guy's ability to "calmly" harness your chaotic energy to makes such awesome works of art! I really wish I had that same energy or at least motivation to get back into sewing and accomplish even a fraction of what you two are able to do. Absolutely love your art and projects, so subbing for more of that chaotic pixie, fairy.. mystical cottage core forest dweller energy. Yeah!
That's fantasy non-sense but beautiful Btw, during all the process I was like "Imagine a cape made of leaves (like a type of fantasy Tolkien elf non-sense gift for a membrer of the Fellowship) that would be gorgeous with the dress"
"whoops that didn't matter cause i took it out later" "SLEEVES" "eccentric people gravitate towards sewing" i felt this video so personally dukfkudukdhldjkfkjflu
it's such a mood to be like "this should, logically, work I think" and then it doesn't work and you spend hours trying to comprehend how anything works until eventually you figure it out and realize you spent so much time for such a simple solution. why is sewing like this 😭
Absolutely adore this! I feel like @PricklyAlpaca, @BernadetteBanner, and @RachelMaksy need to do a joint project. This dress instantly had me thinking of Rachel because she is all things fall, and the dress reminded me of Bernadette's autumn fairy cape.
I feel like there are 3 types of people who sew and yes, more than one can apply at a time: - thought it was gonna make things easier and be simpler than an alternative (sorry buddy) - wants to make a very specific vision into reality, chaotic being with great style - adhd hyperfixation, may be REALLY into sewing things by hand and also embroidery
Another stage completed on the route of being a full-on woodland fairy! Jokes aside, I really loved this video to be honest, it's fascinating seeing creatives be wired to make fun stuff c:
I just discovered your channel and omg I'm in love! I just love how chaotic [in a positive way 😅] aesthetic, and satisfying your channel is! I am a bigginer seamstress and you just inspired me to keep chasing my dream! Love it. Keep the good work!
Okay first of all, I was so excited when I saw on your IG story you were putting out this video, because all I want is to share ideas with the creators I admire on social media and for them to go "yes good this is an excellent idea I agree." So you literally made my WEEK! Second, coming back with more random animal facts that no one asked for: the 2nd bird pic you showed was that of a yellow-billed magpie which is my favorite corvid (usurping the ravens of yesteryear); they happen to be an endangered species endemic to the Central Valley of California where I live. They are little trash gremlins, with the prettiest blue streak in their wings, and sound like they're laughing when they all come together and sound a predator alert (we had a lot of stray cats in our neighborhood). Third: I totally agree about making stuff just to paint and weather it. THE best part of any project. Anyway, love how it turned out!! It looks so good, you can't even tell there's hot glue. The flutter sleeves were definitely the way to go!
I love how you deal with your chaos. Yes I'm one of those "old ladies" who likes what you wear but doesn't have the nice figure to wear them... also I live in Oregon so my leaf dress when I get to putting it together will be more late Victorian in style. I react to sewing machines the way you react to putting sleeves in... hence my hand sewing everything.
This looks absolutely amazing!! You've inspired me a whole lot to start drawing different clothing designs! I hope to start making some of them soon :D (still have to go through the pain of learning to sew though)
Love the dress. Also, that lining fabric for one of your corsets would look GORGEOUS. My family are birds too! For some reason we're know as "The Sparrows" in my village since my grandma's grampa or something like that. Very confusing.
This is going to be the weirdest complement but hey I'm known for weird complements anyway I'm so glad you show how many times you rip it out and lose motivation because I wanna get into sewing (but I'm too poor for a sewing machine) and making my own clothes is a dream that I'm intimidated by and I like to see that I'm not just a fail human and people who do this for work/hobby also get frustrated and put projects in time-out
I really appreciate you showing how difficult sewing things can be for you sometimes! Sewing breaks my brain a lot of the time so it's nice to see that it's not just a cake-walk for the people I watch do cool things!
I had an idea similar to this, but paint the leaves instead, and make it look like the leaves are falling down the dress and collecting at the hem. (The inspo was Rachel's recent corset video)
Beautiful! Makes the increased vulnerability to rakes worth it, love how it turned out. Also what do you think of the true main character of HotD: long boi Caraxes the blood wyrm
I love it when their brain goes brrr, and they procrastinate and do dumb shit instead of working at an inhuman level and speed. Its relatable. Thank you.
19:23 I was about to say like "Oh, but Bernadette is not that chaotic", and then I remembered that her last video was about making an OnlyFans for victorian ankle pics :)
12:06 So I go to school for learning to make, construct and design clothes basically, my teacher(whose been in the fashion industry since at least the 80s) once told me that ironing basically does 50% of the work for you.
I haven't watched the vid fully yet, but I'm always taken back at how well you can draw. Like you're an amazing seamstress but also just an amazing artist
This reminds me so much of my "pile of leaves" costume that my mom made me when I was maybe 8? I remember her spending hours sewing the leaves onto a sweatshirt and sweatpants.
This came out at such a good time because I'm litrily sat here sewing my own dress from atumn leaves and now I'm just super exited about how its going to look! :D

That is GORGEOUS you really have the talent to outrepass the 'I don't know what i'm actually doing" step to go directly to "okay this turn out really cool" :D
I started sewing this year because for 1 I wanted to be able to make my own fantasy clothing, and 2 because I like the way the string threads through fabric ( may brain loves the way it looks, and it feels so satisfying to see my SUCCESSFULLY threaded needle go through the fabric so effortlessly )🧐
A plie of leaves is fine for me at the moment. Everything going crazy so I feel I am living in Melstrom of leaves, keep being creative and I will follow you to Narnia every time. x
Hear me out... A corset that looks like a tree trunk with this dress.
Or flowers
I like where this is going.
Textured leggings to resemble an oak tree perhaps?
@@whowhat.wherewhen It could be both, they'll combine so nicely, the leggings could start blending with some green by the end, like if it was grass.

it’s flattering “gorgeously draped”.
“it’s brown not crun, CHY”.
“My normal mock-up fabric, that looks like it went on an unsuccessful date with Edward Scissorhands” Or it was very successful, depending on your point of view 😂
