- In this video we review Dragons Dogma 2 and take a closer look at why the game caused issues for players at launch and the state of the game now. We also discuss how this open world RPG deserves more praise and why it should definitely be given a second chance regardless of its launch issues! Dragons Dogma 2 is the successor to the original hardcore RPG that released and then re-released years later on the older console generation so can it fill the boots of the original or is this game still just a lackluster follow-up to the original great role playing game?

@@gimmedecash The price point coupled with Denovu and microtransactions ruined the game. Sure it is a good game but is a kinda remake of original. Also performance as you have pointed was bad. Instead u had better games to buy. I bought ghost of tsushima & Wukong for example. And now I do not even feel the need to purchase this game as I have lost any interest in it.
Microtransaction for skins is ok but not for in game items. IMO microtransactions/Denovu are used only when company lacks trust in sales. Believe me I played cracked version of ghost of tsushima. And within an 30 minutes of playing the game I purchased the game at full price. Adding Denovu discourages me to buy those games.
Also at the price point 60+ dollar, the game should be fantastic. Otherwise I can only say the game is mediocre.
The game has the potential to be great, but right now? It isn't a great game, mid at best.
I get what you mean but in the games defence all of the microtransactions are 100% optional and not required in any way as you can just get all of the items in-game with relative ease.. I do agree on the denuvo aspect but if its for the game not being pirated then ofc they would try and stop people from pirating the game :D Also performance is BETTER but maybe not quite there yet for some players! It's a way different experience to GoT or Wukong but I still like it tbh

The Problem with Dragons Dogma 2 is that its not an improvement over Dragons Dogma 1, its more of a a sidegrade.
And thats a damn shame.
I can respect that take as it is just more of the same essentially but isn't hat what sequels should be about? Yes sequels should come with a bunch of new things and ideas but if the core was so good in the original then why change it
I'm just stopping by here to make a record. Dragons Dogma 2 is Dragons Dogma 1 with better graphics. That's why it didn't hit.
As someone who played both at launch, I can confidently say that’s only a fraction of the problem haha. But you’re not wrong. It failed mass appeal for a lot of the same reasons.
Actually, the first game is better in every respect apart from graphics.
"better graphics" is a long shot 🤣 its a literal sequel in every sense of the word so I get what you mean! Its definitely not for everyone for sure but its still awesome imo because its just more of the same essentially

My biggest issue with the game for me is the stamina. Have it disabled out of combat. It's so frustrating. Have beaten the game twice with no issues with fast travel. You get a bunch of ferry stones by exploration. Npc's are pretty lame and the story is kind of boring. Other than those things I really like it. Combat and giants are fun. Plan on replaying within the next few months
Well in that case youll LOVE the new update as stamina management has been changed! I think now they did exactly that, diasbled it out of combat!
This game ran like absolute fucking garbage.
It doesn't deserve anything.
They need to optimize their games better if they want people to enjoy them.
But they are fixing it? The game runs better now than it did at launch which admittedly is still not up to par with a lot of gamers but at least there has been progress!
The problem with dragons dogma is that there’s not enough content. Not enough replay ability. There so much potential and it could be a game that lasts decades if done correctly. It’s the most engaging and realistic rpg. Especially with all the new garbage games being released. This game is in its own league when it comes to general gameplay.

I had a lot of fun with DD2 (about 90 hours on steam), but I have no desire to go back and replay it. It's fun but mediocre.
I can respect that broski, gaming is all about fun imo so as long as you enjoyed playing a game thats all that matters in the end!
Capcom makes really good DLC's so I'm hoping that will revive it for me. I did beat it, enjoyed it, and dabbled a little in NG+ but with a lack of enemy variety and end game progression made it stale. I'm not complaining, I enjoyed the 86 hours I put into it, but I feel like a DLC could bring me to 100
I love this take! all gaming should be is finding a game you sink your teeth into and enjoy for hours, then its okay to move on and come back every once in a while! I'm excited to see what DLC they release!

the NPC's easy to forget like no souls, but the character creation is great and I love this game more playable especially at town.
@@AyupratomoDhang imo NPCs are definitely an issue in this game but pawns more than make up for it lol, I don't like speaking to people anyway
One of the best open worlds and most satisfying exploration I’ve even played, also bad questing, lackluster story, and lack of enemy variety, depends on what you like in your games, I think it’s good not great

I tried playing it again yesterday and had to put it back down when I got smacked by a troll and my entire health bar went down to like 20% and the rest was locked out from healing . They really need to take that shit out
Damn thats unfortunate 😢 I personally like the health system tbh as it makes it that little bit more hardcore but I also have to be honest in saying that there are moments when I wish I didn't lol
@@gimmedecashi honestly have no problem with the difficulty of the game. It makes you go "maaaaybe i should just come back later". Nothing beats beating a boss that's kicking your ass, leaving you at 20% max hp and then having to run away from everything else so you don't die. Wish i could do it for the first time again
I downloaded the update today and gonna give it another go
they gave the option to take away exactly what I wanted with the health system but I’m not going to play on casual mode and be locked from trophies so I’m gonna have to work with it and take it for what it is
I saw that! there has been a substantial update added to the game that fixes a bunch of issues so the timing of this video is oddly perfect lol

Dude the quests are unplayable. Literally every quest breaks unless you are following a wiki page line by line. THAT is what is unacceptable, I don't care about some dips around frame rate.
Also any dev that uses Denovo can fk right off. They make the product worse, but you gotta pay full price.
Grabbed hold on release stopped playing 3 months ago after new game plus unmoored world of nothing and no more challenge

FACTS! Even though ER is absolutely amazing, bloodborne is still best!
horrible story mode. its way too quick and doesn’t flow too well. and the game is virtually dd1.5 rather than dd2. also the npcs are not revolutionary at all. they said this game was the creators dreams fully realized but nothing made the game feel better or bigger. just more modern.

The game has the potential to be great, but right now? It isn't a great game, mid at best.
I enjoyed the game a lot but once my pawns and I reached a certain level the fight sequences were redundant and too easy. Fighting an ogre with 3 health bars became boring to me. But I loved the exploration and some of the classes felt really smooth in combat etc.. oh and the pawns dialogue repeating over and over made me want to punch a wall after a while.

They had an opportunity with this game to improve on the first and they just made DD1 again. And arguably worse.
How so? they improved in a lot of ways imo and made some tweaks to the core gameplay which in my book is what a sequel should be tbh.. now I do get that maaaaybe this is more of a 1.5 because it does admittedly feel very similar to the original in a lot of ways but is that such a bad thing? This is capcom after all I mean look at their other games lol

It is a slow cooking game admittedly, but slow roasted meat is the best lol (no diddy)

it's hard game to quantify. Not janky enough to be Eurojank. Not hard enough to be Souls-like (or at least, not that kind of deliberate, learn the boss to beat the boss). A lot of management but not a survival game. It doesn't explain things, its very weird compared to Western rpgs.
I started the OG game like 4x, each time I got a little farther before I'd quit in frustration. But "it clicked" is best way to describe it...everyone who loves it will usually admit it took a while, but once it clicks...there is something insanely satisfying about finally taking down a griffin for the first time. To be heading that way & get excited (instead of cursing) when a drake drops down to block your way.
Go into DD2 with an open mind and you’ll likely have a great time! It has a ton of good and bad about it, just like the first one. But I enjoyed it even more over all. I very much hope we get a BBI type experience. Only major thing it really needs.
@@ToliG123 man I'm hoping for a BBI expansion. IIRC there was a decent delay between the original, BBI, & then the Dark Arisen version of the game.

Ofc the expectation is a bit higher this time around but this is just more of the original game and thats not a bad thing at all imo
I tried to briefly explain this to my brother and the best explanation I could come up with is imagine its the new legend of zelda meets kingdom come lite 🤣 also made with the usual capcom jank..
I think the game has more personality than other games and thats what makes it stand out. Its not afraid to be "different" in the way its systems work. If you loved the og then this is just more of the same essentially with some minor tweaks

I was replaying thru OG recently, but put it down a couple months ago. Guess it's time to wrap that playthru up & get on DD2.
