How does colour affect your watercolour paintings?

    We are in Oregon USA, so our color palette is similar to yours, and requires a lot of mixing to tone things down.
    Really, how many shades of gray do we need? Paynes makes a great base.
    I now tend towards less mixing, and more direct pigment, makes it faster and more spontaneous!

      Yeah so fair! I love how everyone has a different approach to watercolours, so interesting, I think for me I just love mixing colours up to see what happens!

    I tend to go for saturated and bright colors when painting traditionally - purely for that "sunny day" vibe. But you made an interesting point about mixing colors that are already in your pallet - it does help with making them all work together; and it's very similar to a trick in digital painting when you put all the colors you want to use say for a character > overlay them all with one color and color pick that to get a cohesive pallet.

      I do love a bright sunny day painting! they're so cheerful, glad something from the video was interesting and that makes sense in digital art!
