How do you think Air Algerie handled my case downgrading me to Economy Class? Better than Luxair did? Let me know what you think! Also take advantage of Airalo eSim here: try.airalo.com/JoshCahill -Thanks!

Good grief!
Did u getvthe name of the brown haired lady texting next to you😅
why couldnt they book you in bc on the second flight?
@@JoshCahill Better than luxair but not as good we're so sorry 😐
The right thing to do would have been to offer you a business class upgrade on your second segment when they downgraded you in Paris.
Well algeria is communist/socialist country they dont know what the right thing is
Your face when people applauded that hard landing 😂
I think it’s cute , people always love to applaud when they arrive home
You have to pay extra to get that smooth of a landing with Ryanair
I thought they were applauding that the pilot got it down without a massive bounce down the runway!
Or probably they applauded because they landed safely! 😂
@@Wanderer2050 no lol I’m Algerian and even if their service is most of the time shitty , they have the best maintenance system in all Africa
Josh is a great traveler. He's open-minded, respectful, and curious about different cultures and I appreciate his patience and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. And a big shoutout to Air Algerie staff for their effort to make a not so good situation better
I agree, not like Noel Phillips who has no interest in the places he goes to
"Problems can happen, it's how you deal with them". I can't agree more, that's something I say over and over almost like a personal motto
Problems? Yeah, they ripped him off big time.
Aziz is a true asset to his airline - embezzled a downgraded passenger out of 600 Euro for what should have been a complimentary upgrade, while knowing what kind of business class is being offered, presenting it in such a way that makes the passenger think he flipped the world over for him.
Yes a CEO is the right job for him. That or politics.
Well said! Josh seems angry at LuxAir over simple lounge access? Ridiculous!
@@alyonapetrova694 Both airlines scammed him, but one did a $60 with a frown and gets heat for it and the other did a $600 scam but with a smile and gets all the praise...
@@EuroYXX
Exactly! I’d prefer the “frown” over the 600 Euros for sure, and not to mention they’d should have complimentary upgraded his second leg. Plus no alcohol in Algeria 🇩🇿
@@alyonapetrova694
but, plz respect his influence and negotiating prowess. (Aziz's)
Also, the lounge didn't look so simple - there was a coffee machine, wasn't there?
.........'simple lounge access' .....At least a pre packaged pack of 2 nuts & pretzels (mix) 🥜🍏 even some green, acidy, cooking apples, at least, were available for all to feast on!
Ridiculous!
Aziz, surely is the legend! I think he saw Josh, coming!
I hope he received a kickback!
I think Aziz is now Station Manager, soon to be VP AH Magreb.
well no his first leg was business class, and they refunded the difference right? His second leg was economy, so of course he was suppose to get economy, i dont see how you think they embezzled him.
So you got downgraded from business to economy, then paid e600 to upgrade from economy to business on a different leg with the same airline and got economy level product ? All the while the airline replaced their own aircraft with non branded substitues of substandard ? quality ? I think Air Algeria owes you big time and hope you pursue the shortfall with them and get your money back. Hope you were outspoken on all their channels to reflect the shabby experience they delivered Josh.
He won't get a dime from them I'm betting.
Unbelievable AH engaged in such activities - especially with such a highly influential, high value, high flier.🐩
basically air algerie is taking money and hiring other companies to fly you lmao
He will get nowhere with them with his claim. He had better not to waste his time and effort.
A master class in negotiating like an adult. You treated each other with respect and dealt with the situation as it was, not as you wish it was. Asking for the seat next to you to be kept open was a small ask on a plane that wasn't full; BRILLIANT!
Ok…but did you watch the entire video? The actual return flight was garbage…
Hardly! He got an empty seat and no refund
Did you get a refund? I'd be PO'd if I paid for business and got economy. They should have upgraded the second leg.
I love how this comment is absolutely dripping in sarcasm and nobody has picked up on it hahah. BRILLIANT!
@@listeyplease point out whose comment is “dripping in sarcasm”.
Amazing that you were provided such good customer service yet you never ended up flying the airline you paid for. Crazy! And paying an upgrade for the second leg on this very subpar plane. You took it for the team today, Josh.
Josh. I’m 6’8” tall and hate air travel. I enjoy watching you do it.
Josh I really feel like this is one of your best ever videos. Your interactions with staff are so pure and you have a way of handling surprises that is second to none
It is not allowed to smoke inside the Algerian airport, they just break the rules, I'm from there and I've been there and I know the rules.
Hi Josh, I often use Air Algerie to visit family, and your more positive experience with Air Algerie than Noel Philips confirms my thoughts that it is the most inequal airline ever. One one flight you can get a very positive experience with clean planes and in another one a plane in shambles.
This airline often use wet lease as its fleet is too small right now, especially in the summer with high demand due to diaspora visiting the country. I've already got an Air Asia Malaysia A330 plane (incl. crew) for a Paris to Algiers flight.
However Algerians are one of the nicest people in the world, I really hope you can make a trip happen in the country soon !!
PS : the clapping at the landing is due to the people being happy to arrive in Algeria, you will never hear that the other way around haha
Thats with many airlines. I also had different experiences with Air China, Thai and Lufthansa, flying with each of them 20x times
I think they should have given you a free upgrade on the second flight to make up for the downgrade on the first flight. The lounges should always be in the gate area of the airport so you can go straight from there to the gate. Otherwise you could miss your flight waiting for passport control if you take full advantage of the lounge.
From what we've seen, I wouldn't say it's an upgrade to business anyway, just a slightly better seat.
Other, supposedly superior airlines, should be tripping over each other to bring Aziz in to sort out their customer services and general culture. Bravo Aziz, you are a vary rare breed in the travel industry.
I think Aziz did a great job of extracting extra funds for Air Algeria, knowing you were going onto a hired in aircraft!!! With no choice of meal. Plus bugs to keep you company along with the Purser having his mate up for a chat.
Reminds me of Air Sudan from Heathrow to Cairo that right after take off the captain informed us we would not be landing in Cairo. On landing in Khartoum my duty free was poured away. After speaking with the BA Cairo manager he told me they do it often to retain income and then wonder why nobody rebooks them. I had only booked them because BA and Egypt Air were fully booked and I had to get back to work.
Aziz, the man. Aziz, the legend 😂
If you paid for business and got economy then you should have received a refund for the difference in ticket price.
Do you need a visa to only transit in Algeria? I have a dutch passport

Hi Josh, what an unusual flight experience especially for your 200th flight. The least Air Algerie is to provide you a business class ticket anywhere on their network on THEIR own aircraft. You and colleague Noel should be UN Ambassodors of flight experiences. Blue skies always.
Hi Josh, I am not joking here but my cat Mr Charlie is transfixed watching your show. I think he is into planes now !!!.
Thank you for all your hard work and patience Josh.
Really they should have upgraded the 2nd leg to make up for the downgrade.
I agree, 100%..
absolutely
They knew better than that: that the upgrade was not worth it at all and wasn't business but premium economy curva 1986. But he insisted. The whole video feels like a tourist haggling the price of a rug in the medina...
@@hben1052 he was haggling to try and get a refund or something equivalent to what he payed for.
That was my thought too
I dont get it, they owed you 600 usd for the downgrade, and now you payed 600 usd for an business upgrade? Should the upgrade not had been free as a compensation? And what about the 600 usd refund then?
I severely doubt the flight from Paris to Algiers was $600 for a business class upgrade. I doubt even a ticket itself is that much. It's only a couple hour flight

As an Algerian. keep up the good work. we need to embarass this kind of bad service in this company.
Exactly someone smoking a cigarette tells alot how they can't understand smoking is not allowed but even the police or anyone works in the airport of algiers smokes. What a shame.
Congratulations! Of course you'll make it to 300.
Aziz gave a good impression thats what matters so thank you aziz
Even though i think comunication is important i would still insist on a refund since a blocked seat next to you in economy is nowhere near business class. The only diffrence seems of air algerie and luxair is that air algerie does it a polite way.
I wouldn't choose an airline where you are not getting what you paid for whatever the reason is you should still get a refund!I respect your opinion not to choose to insist for it but as a paying customer i need to be able to get a refund for that

I remember you could smoke on planes, I'm sooo old I still recall that the toilets had a sign saying " Orville and Wilbur"
Small correction though : Algeria is in the maghreb region/north africa, not the middle east! Welcome back.
By the sensu lato definition, "The Middle-East" can stretch all the way from Casablanca to Kabul, and from Alma Ata to Mogadisciu.
The whole of the Maghreb region is included in that sensu lato definition.
@@Wilbtubeno it’s not what are you talking about 😅
@@Wilbtube nononon North Africa.
@@Wilbtube it can't really. If we follow that logic, we'll start adding some italian and spanish islands to the list since they're so close to us, and if the only requirement is for the country to be muslim, then why not stretch the middle east to Indonesia and Malaysia? Since you went back and stretched it further north-west.
@@ImadHadjersi Respectfully, but yes it can.
The Middle-East sensu lato can include all countries that
a) are contiguous
b) are including or bordering the Sahara, the Syrian desert, the Arabic desert, or Karakum-Kyzylkum deserts
c) are at least partly Arabic-speaking and/ or Turkic speaking and/or Iranian speaking
This explains why for instance Somalia can be considered part of the Middle-East: it is contiguous with Egypt-Sudan and with Yemen, all countries that are Arabic-speaking, and is itself in many parts bilingual (Xisbega and Arabic).
By the same measure, since Turkey is in the Middle-East, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan can all be considered part of the Middle-East too (sensu lato).
And once more by that same measure, since Kurdistan is in the Middle-East (Iranian language) the Farsi-speaking countries of the region (Iran, Tadjikistan, parts of Afghanistan) can all be included as well.
And pretty much all of North-Africa (minus the Canary Islands and Malta) can be included as well, as these countries are contiguous with Egypt and Arabic speaking. So going by the sensu lato defintion, almost all of North-Africa can be considered Middle-Eastern.

There's an inverse correlation between how many tourists a country gets, and how friendly and helpful the people are there.
Tunisia vs Algeria is a great example.
That is so true. Scotland is probably one of the few exceptions, maybe Iceland, New Zealand too.
I never thought of it this way but so true. My encounters with people in Paris and Italy have not been good.

it's really odd when passengers start clapping at touching down. I haven't seen this since flying between states in the US.
That always happens when I fly / idk why though
I hear it a lot flying to Eastern European destinations. Not heard it much anywhere else.
its quite common in Europe
Very common in europe!
Used to happen on every flight with many Koreans on it.
At least it’s step in right direction. Remember early 1970 Air Algerie flights.Flight attendants were smoking on board not when were airborne but during their duties, serving beverages or whatever- what do you want? And cigarette ash drops right in isle … Thank you for keeping us updated!
Having flown Air Algerie many many times this honestly didnt look to bad. The food is certainlt better normally just 3 types of stale bread with no filling. Business class they certainly used to have a desert trolley with some fresh whole fruit. Their bussiness class ranges from economy seats with 2 extra inches to recliners. staff smoking on board is common, some super hard landings. i was just happy to arrive in one piece each time. oh and delays super common often multiple hours, no reasons given and nothing provided. Had 3 aircraft changes with 2 aborted take offs and a total of 14hrs delay to London one time. amazingly only caught pink eye once due to filthy interiors.
Hope later you can really experience Air Algérie with their own planes, they will soon get A330-900neo and A350-1000 so that would be awesome if you can try at least one of them. And waiting for you to visit Algeria, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime journey, you will love the people.
