THANK YOU! I took one look at the paragon board and decided I wasn't smart enough to figure out what's going on so I had to come to ytoutube for the answers and I finally got them with your video. I don't feel stupid now.
Great video... I was wondering how these boards work. I was building my Sorcerer in Eternal and following a friend's advice. I had 5 boards up already and things weren't all that better. I decided to scrap a couple later boards and concentrate on picking the best qualities of fewer boards and make sure they suit my build. So you confirmed that through this Master Class. Thank you.
Thank you for this amazing guide. The system is a bit daunting and the way you laid out priorities and general things to keep in mind really helped to get me eager to start playing around with them.
I've got 3 left to gather and I'm level 58 so that's really nice that you don't have to wait until the higher levels to experiment with all the glyphs.
How expensive is it to reset the paragons? Switching the glyphs? Can't find anyone talking about it.. I just remember the developers saying its more worth to just level up a new character.
Wudijo talks about this in the video at about 11 minutes. He said unsocketing the Glyphs is free. You can just drag and drop whenever you want and swap out at any time.
Really good guide! I've spendt several hours playing around with the boards myself, and I definitely still feel like I learned some important tricks here :)
21:00 you are talking about the additive damage sources while showing a node that is +core skill dmg. Isn't this a strong node for builds that utilize core skills since it is the first scalar for damage calculation going base dmg-> core dmg ->"dmg to" -> vuln dmg -> crit/overpower ? This is why +skill level is so impactful because it increases that base dmg value before multipliers affect them.
So weird Sorc doesn’t have the vulnerable proc on Exploit glyph. Outside of a couple ice skills, Sorcs just don’t have the ability to consistently make enemies vulnerable like other classes seem to. Devs have definitely boxed in Sorcs by making at least three skills absolutely mandatory to use on the skill bar (teleport, nova for vulnerable, and ice armor [or fire shield]). A bit unfortunate, even something as simple as allowing the SAME exploit glyph to function on sorc would have actually helped to create more options.
@@waterlight0243 yeah I was gonna say op doesn’t know what the hell he talking about. My friend is a ice sorc and all he does is do freeze, chill, and vulnerable
I run an ice build for this reason. I started as an electric build and although it’s a big burster, it can lack consistency and mana consumption. You can mix and match elements as sometimes they are great to intertwine. However, Frost Nova seems to be the greatest ability currently.
Are you certain that Damage to Vulnerable is the Vulnerable Bucket? It is worded in the same way, "Damage to Elites" etc. Instead of saying Increased Vulnerable Damage.
Hello everyone. I have a question. Does the Exploit glyph for the sorc provide "vulnerable damage" or just increased regular damage when enemies are vulnerable?. I am a bit confused by the wording here.
Hey, 2 weeks late and hopefully you've found the answer by now. In case you haven't, or for anyone else, exploit for sorc (and every class I believe) provides "vulnerable damage" NOT regular damage that is additive with everything else like close, core, distant damage etc
Great video!! Huge fan! Could you please do a video on damage calculation? Things like additive or multiplicative, I’m sure many ppl are still confused, and I’m def one of them😅 thx!!
link to the paragon calculator ? u said no witness is the highest for exploit(most strength u can get in that radius) is there a link telling u about all of the glyphs that match the boards??? id appreciate it
Leveling glyphs seems a bit weird, if at level 1 I already unlocked the option, why would I need more range? What I am not clear is why level, I guess the level multiplies the effect?
First and foremost, I think the Paragon System is a wonderfully innovative idea - even if its more catered toward making your build stronger, rather than being build defining in of itself. My worry here however is that there seems to be some starching reoccurring themes or patterns across each board and how you would optimally path through them. It seems the general rule of thumb is to simply choose a board who’s legendary synergizes with your overall build and then rotate the board in order to reach the legendary with the fewest points possible. After that, the next destination to path toward is the glyph. Exit the board, rinse and repeat. Not at all an expert in this system but I truly hope that there is enough reason to path away from the shortest routes and simply toward legendary and glyphs alone- that perhaps there are rare nodes worth going after that you ultimately have to make a difficult decision and trade offs for. Again, I think the core of D4 is SUPER strong and I look forward to seeing where this system eventually materializes! It would be great to perhaps eventually incorporate boards that are super build defining! See you all in hell!
i heard "damage to vulnerable" is not the same as "vulnerable damage". damage to vulnerable is maybe in the same damage bucket as damage to burning etc. do you have some testin if Exploit add in the same damage bucket like "vulnerable damage"?
This! I have been wondering the same thing!. The glyph says increased damage "to" vulnerable enemies, not increased vulnerable damage. This choice of wording also has me thinking that it is not in the Vulnerable bucket.
Hi @wudijo, I noticed that your turf node has 140% damage increased in close enemies while mine's about 97% considering I put the strength stats to max. How did you exceed the damage output there?
It's actually max out in my node and the max I get from the nodes I put is 110%. When you want to get specific nodes for example strength or agi or int, it will be a random considering your path might be zigzag, its not effective to get the other nodes from paragon board so Im not sure how he did it.
Is there an algorithm to maximize a specific attribute? I explored dynamic programming for solving graphs, but it doesn't work well when nodes have conditions. Initially, my goal is to solve one board and then incorporate additional boards later. Or maybe it be more effective to develop a generic Neural Network and train it to discover optimal pathways through trial and error? In the long run, factors such as gear, legendary aspects, and abilities will influence the optimal path in paragon boards. However, for now, I would like to take small steps and solve optimal pathways without considering gear, aspects, abilities, the amount of abilities that can be on the actionbar and chained together, etc.
Playing this last year I had to figure it out on my own once I started experimenting and understanding the Paragon board the end game got really good for me.

Disagree about board order. Its not about wasting stats on board/items to get double bonus. Thats exactly the reason why order is important. Example that you gave with board 5 where double bonus requires 520 str or 540 int, if you switch that board with any of your main stat boards earlier - now it requires fraction of those numbers while you probably have bazilion of your main stat so it has also double bonus on board 5.
New subscriber! Love how you laid this all out. Learned a ton! Question for you though. At one point in the video you mentioned that exploit was most important for the rogue (or something like that). Hows come you didn't choose that board as your 2nd board? Is it because it was more important for your character to get the trap stuff first or...? Asking cause I have a rogue build that's all mele and the exploit bonuses look juicy to me.
A question about nodes. If a node gives +shadow damage and one gives + shadow damage over time, do they stack? I am not sure if straight +damage counts towards DoTs.
Yes they do stack. The shadow damage over time don't tell just damage over time to specifically indicate you that is shadow damage and is affected by the bonuses
Shadow dot falls under shadow dmg. Like burning falls under fire dmg and poisoning falls under poison dmg. So "+shadow dmg" will increase both direct shadow dmg and dot shadow dmg but "+shadow dot" will only increase the dot shadow dmg not the direct shadow dmg
Could you clarify if Aspect of the Umbral (providing Primary Resource on CC) works on bosses or not? My understanding is that they can't be CC'ed outside of filling the stagger meter, yet a lot of builds seem to heavily rely on it for resource generation, essentially replacing the generators entirely.
this is d4s end game farming nightmare dungeons for scrolls to upgrade your paragon board which is the same as d3 farming rifts for gems to increase your power. d4 and d3 have the same end game.
Would it be beneficial to branch out all 3 directions from your first board, before going out further? That way the costs for doubling the effect is low, and shouldn't really increase travel cost by much i think?
Kripp recommends doing just that: choosing a 1st board with a desired legendary node makes it so you naturally end up pathing on both edges of the board (glyph side and legendary side), then 3-way branching out from there to conserve board distance so the doubling effects don't get out of control.
@@sukpoiu kripp was wrong about distance and even updated the video through a comment. Each board after the first increases the requirements of rare nodes. Distance from the starting board is irrelevant.
Let’s say you deal 100 damage with a core skill. If have +100% vulnerable damage, you will then deal 200 damage. Vulnerable increases the damage the enemy takes from you, and that is calculated after personal damage boosts like +damage to skills. That’s what makes vulnerable so good.
