After playing SVR 06 and 07, it was hard to love 08 especially with the fact that its 24/7 mode was a redundant version of the previous games season modes.

I strongly disagree because Benoit was in ECW in 07 so how does that add up unless he was still on smackdown before he got drafted to ECW
What bugged me so much about the 24/7 Mode was how few the main character's dialogue was. They pretty much had very little personality and kind of rendered selecting a voice for your created wrestler pointless.

I ain't gonna lie, this season mode sucks imo. It starts off cool at the beginning with the Vince introduction but then it gets so repetitive and stale real fast.

To think this mode is the only way to get money for unlockable characters you can purchase. And of course, the McMahons will always screw you over no matter what especially if you encounter Stephanie.
I just beat it recently after 14 years of the game being out I had to endure 2 1/2 seasons (video game seasons) of repeating storylines and cutscenes all for a shot cut scene at the end of me becoming a legend 🙁🙁

I hated this game lmaoo. Svr 2007 was the last good game of the series.
This game makes the player such a punk! He keeps getting his ass kicked and even when you win you either end up injured or getting your ass kicked more! I know it’s satisfying to come out on top despite the deck being stacked against you but at least have us fight back! Hell the only impressive thing I can think of our characters doing is winning three extreme rules matches in a row at December to dismember!

Where do we even begin with this story mode?
1. The poor energy in the commentary in the cutscenes. Cole/JBL and JR/Lawler sound like they don't even want to be there.
2. Just how long is this story mode? I think it was two years worth of content.
3. The constant "Is it kayfabe or shoot" stuff.
4. The terrible storylines (Wrestling for a movie role? Really?)
5. The fact that the storylines are repetitive between the Raw and Smackdown brands. It's different enough, but still the same overall plots.
The other games did this story mode concept better.

I’ll admit, I binge played this game a lot and it was mostly due to it being the first next-gen WWE game on the PS3. I enjoyed it more than I should have and it feels like it wasn’t finished with how the season mode was rushed. I don’t know if Benoit being removed had anything to do with it, but this was a hot mess.
What bugs me the most was the roster severely lacking and most notable stars in the company were noticeably absent. It feels incomplete and doesn’t make sense how they’re wasn’t more legends because of the decision to cut the roster. Funny enough, Brian Kendrick and Paul London were shafted in favor of Cryme Time who ended up getting fired after they made the cut due to a house show incident. JTG remembered getting a check out of it pouring less salt in the wound and it’s safe to say he wasn’t unhappy with leaving the company.
The ones that should’ve been to the game go as followed(minus Benoit for obvious reasons): Brian Kendrick, Paul London, Rob Van Dam, Shelton Benjamin, The Miz, Balls Mahoney, Kevin Thorn, The Boogeyman, Stevie Richards, Layla, Ariel, Victoria, and Jillian Hall.
Those to me felt like they were missing in the game and notice how most of these wrestlers were on the ECW brand. Yeah...that’s one of the biggest problems is that ECW’s roster is slim as all hell. I shouldn’t be surprised since Vince already buried it with no representation of the game. Hell, Marcus Cor Von made the cut and he was only there for six months. Not that I hate ole Monty Brown, but if Van Dam didn’t make and he got a spot? That’s a whole mind fuck and bruh moment.
In other words, thanks for the cutscenes for the game and I know where you’re coming from with the repetitive story mode. Also, apologize for the long essay I wrote.

The season mode is only good when you simulate the raws and Smackdowns and only ready the text messages and play the paperviews

@@MainEventGames Probably because I'm one of the few people that actually liked Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 and bothered to figure out how to beat it lol. Oh and you can only get all of the achievements or goals on the progress report if you play as a created wrestler, which is another glitch in this game, among others. For some reason, if you play as an existing superstar, you don't get the percentage point for signing a 500 thousand dollar contract, which you only get if your popularity is 50 or in the low 50 range. Get it to 100 or close to it to sign a million dollar contract.
Anyway, if you go for all the achievements, you usually hit 100% by the second time you go through season mode and shouldn't get any stories that repeat. Also, if you're a created guy, you'll have to do 3 tryout matches on Heat. I don't know who the #1 ranked guy is on Raw on the Power 25 because I played on Smackdown and it was Rey Mysterio. I imagine it's probably Shawn Michaels or maybe Cena. I know it's a long ass game though and can get tedious, so I usually only played a few matches a day. Also if you reach exactly 90% before Wrestlemania the second time, you should get an e-mail from your GM saying you're "Almost a legend."
My second playthrough I played as Edge and another Edge attacked him with Kennedy when Shane made out your superstar was one planning to take down Vince.

This mode is meh, interesting at first but after the contender's match is over is a complete mess, for me this was the third worst out of the SVR series, this is the list for me

I know this is a game and not real life, but at 20:00 where Matt Hardy's kidnapping Maria, those high-heeled-sandals would've been flying off of her about-to-be bare-feet while she was kicking her legs both high up and fast. And then, Maria's high-heeled-sandals would've been left behind as a clue for Jeff Hardy to let him know that his girlfriend has been kidnapped. But would he give them back to her feet after rescuing her from his brother, Matt, or would Maria ask Jeff to take them home and keep them as tokens of her gratitude?

2008 was garbage in terms of story, was such a massive stepback, espeically cause I was so happy ECW came back and I could create a character to be for that brand cause I was always the biggest ECW fan when I was a kid and loved the ECW ONS shows. Story mode felt so messy, rushed and nonsensical. 2006 and 2007 were such masterpieces. The stories didnt get better until SvR2011
Even the opening intros before each show is a prime example of the reused cutscenes, stock images and just massive brand of clusterfuck overall

i wouldn't say great, it feels like a very early universe mode.
This game is not great it’s good at best if it had 2009’s gameplay I’d of enjoyed it a lot better but too often I got and even still get bored with this game on Hall of Fame I’d feel like I would still be beating opponents easily in like 3 minutes.

Is this the only way to make money and unlock the legend wrestlers? I never could gain money in any other way. Can you unlock the legends if you only do GM or tournament mode?

@@MainEventGames I'm new to SVR08 after playing various other WWE games, it would be cool if the HOF challenges gave you money. I knew you could make the Rock, Stone Cold, and Bret Hart buyable in the store, they still cost 210K though.
