- It’s summer cottage decorating this week and I’m adding pops of blue to my rustic neutral colour scheme! There’s lots of thrift finds, auction buying, thrift flips and, of course, masses of decorating! I’ve had a large thrift haul this week which I’ll share with you.
I’ll be sharing lots of tips and tricks on home decor, home decorating and thrift shopping. I’ll share a story on how I got inspiration from another lovely channel@MommaFromScratch and give you lots of background stories on items.

Fantastic finds! Kudos to your son! Your cottage is the warmest welcoming hug! It greets you to come in and leave your worries behind. I Love it all. Your scale and base is excellent, but you do as your heart feels what is right. 😊It's hard to say my "favorite" accent color, but yellow, green and aqua blue are colors that makes my heart smile. Hello! I am not a lover of blue, but I do like it. I started a small collection of blue and white plates when I was very young because my Mom had a collection. All the plates were different and no two matched. I remember one Thanksgiving, when I was 14 or 15, my Mom finally had enough for our big family dinner. She set the table with brand new deep blue cloth placemats and crisp white napkins. Then, she let me help place the plates. It was so beautiful. Each plate told its own story. About 15 years ago my Mom gave me her collection and mine had grown too. It still sets a beautiful table and people really enjoy it. I have my china high up in a cupboard. I can’t remember if I have ever used it and barely remember what it looks like. It’s nothing special to me and doesn’t spark joy. I always used my blue plates as my china, even when it didn’t match in my house. About 8 years ago I inherited my Grandmother’s every day dishes when she passed away. Besides her fancy china, it’s the only dishes I remember her using. The pattern is Rose Chintz by Johnson Brothers. Now I use both sets as my china and both set a spectacular table. I have redecorated my home so both sets look nice. Rose Chintz is on display in the family room and the blue and white in the living room. (I have added Blue Calico serving pieces to this collection.) I use both sets all the time when I get the kids all together for dinner or when anyone comes for dinner. I don’t save the “china” for holidays. I hear people saying their kids don’t want china or they don’t want the passed down china. I have a theory. If you only use china on stressful occasions, it leaves memories of stress. If you use it all the time there are happy memories attached. My 23 year old daughter told me the other day that she would love to have my grandmother’s dishes someday. This made me happy. (I think I might put my real china up on eBay.) Sorry about my tangent.😂 My favorite color to decorate with is green. Goes great with the pink and the blue! 🤣

I just love seeing your thrift/ auction finds. The amazing part is watching you style them in your home or cottage. You really pay attention to the smallest detail, like the garden view from the window. Your videos are always worth more than one viewing. Love it all, from Canada

I have collected blue and white for over 40 years..... Plates, platters, dish sets, candlesticks, pitchers. Love it all. One of my favorites is not old... but a few years ago Spode had a berry dish with a handle and the sides held a little creamer ad a covered sugar bowl for serving with the berries. It is so unique and charming on my kitchen hutch. My favorites of your finds is that amazing brass scale, the oversized mortar and pestle and that gorgeous blue stoneware pitcher!!! I would not paint the scale base, as the contract works on the counter. Maybe just distress it a little on the edges with sandpaper. Rosemary in terra cotta pots and a candle... yes please!

The cottage is lovely and I like the touches of blue and white. I like the dark base on the scale. If you like the leather sofa, could you change the feet to make it a tad shorter?
That’s a great suggestion although the feet are already very squat. I’ll wait til I find the right one then donate this to the charity furniture store that I like to support 😊

You can go online and see their products. I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t ship products to you. It seems to me like they would. Again I love love your decorating.
When I speak Spanish, I use the word veranda When I speak English I say porch.😊

How do you keep all the stuff you have clean?
Rooms get cleaned on a rota as it’s too big to clean in one go. It’s alway tidy though as I’m a neat freak!! 😄
