I didnt watch Vrains and yes Playmaker is just that great. Also Yusei is a son of one of the smartest scientists in his world. So makes sense he's a top tier duelist. He has five head brain.
I respect how you were able to put Jaden above Yugi. Jaden felt more relatable while still having the weird factor of lineage(like Yugi) and I personally like Hero’s more than most of Yugi’s cards(no offense to the GOAT!!) good video!

Honestly I liked Yuga, but hated Yuma. I watched the dub of Zexal, and his voice was so annoying. I couldn't get own board with Zexal, and at the time I watched it, so I'll have to rewatch it
I'll agree with Jaden to be in the top. GX vibes and story is remarkable. I really enjoy it more than duel monsters. And also Jaden becomes an Uchiha is dope.
I think the main difference between Zarc and Supreme King Jaden is that with Jaden we had multiple episodes of him being the villain and multiple duels as the villain. Ao we had more time foe him to show the change. Yuya was teased throughout the whole series and I think that worked really well, the season needed more time with him as Zarc. The battle royale duel was great yes but it was only 1 Duel, Zarc needed multiple duels and multiple episodes where time has actually passed to show how he differs from Yuya
You got the subscription for making Jaden #1. I was hoping so much you would. I've been a fan yugioh since duelist kingdom in the original series and Jaden is the best protagonist in my opinion also. Your list was exactly the same as mine except I have Yuma in 6th instead of 7th and Vice versa. Great channel
I agree Jaden is the goat and Yugi too one is the best protagonist with a large story about himself and character development and Yugi is the face of the franchise and the first one, nostalgia
Yuma is sn outstanding duelist. He just didn't have strategy in the beginning, in which both Roku and Astral pointed out. However, whenever lives were at stake and after much training Yuma almost made his record 30 straight win streak if it weren't for Kite and Barians. And Yuma never lost in Zexal Change and was considered the best Duelist by the end of the series. I won't say he is better than Yugi or Judai but by the end of the series his deck, character growth, and skill puts him above Yusei imo. Yusei was literally stagnant and stoic the whole series and only ever had power upgrades
Yuma never came across as cocky to me. I thought they did a good job with him coming across as hopeful. He was oblivious and in over his head most of the time but that's the story's main problem. And the rest of the series is him learning as he goes to solve that.
I majorly disagree with this list. And it’s mainly because of how you don’t explain Yuma’s achievements, with Yuga it sounds like you couldn’t take a glaring criticism that he pointed out in the real life game that we need to accept and acknowledge, Yuya as a protagonist I’m just gonna say it Yuya stop preaching there is a time and a place and this is not the time for that.
I'm sorry, but you're completely wrong about Yuma. His growth from episode 1 to the finale, is just an amazing thing. Yuma doesn't come off as oblivious or cocky, he's just a preteen and so there's always going to be some kind of immaturity.
Yuma deff is not the weakest bro stop the cap. I will agree that he was trash at the begining but bro had some crazy moments in the anime and personally i loved his character idk why.
Even though its cheating, it has to be a three-way tie between Yugi, Jaiden and Yusei for me. All 3 are iconic and did something better than the other 2. Yugi is the heart of the franchise. The love for the game itself and the desire to protect & support the people you care for. Its simple, but its something every protagonist after him carries at their core. I feel like we take for granted how inspiring someone so earnest can be. Jaiden is probably the most traumatised and has the biggest rollercoaster of an arc. He's a walking representation of how everyone, even the kindest of us, have a destructive side that hungers for strength and our own selfish goals. But that this can be a force for good if honed by hope and the belief in both your own and others' potential. Yusei is the most outwardly stoic. The complete opposite to Jaiden in how he doesn't really change, but unlike Yugi who passively inspires, Yusei *burns* the path he wants into the world. He doesn't just want to protect those he cares about, he wants to change the world into a place where everyone is inspired and free to do the same.
Just took a break but it’s gone on far longer than I expected, battle city rewrite not coming for a little while because I don’t want to upload it unless I have to whole story finished to a high standard. New video tomorrow tho!
Yuma being so low is criminal He's the best protagonist in the franchise and the strongest using zexal morph. Even without it he's at least midway through the protagonists in strength
Lol the other protagonists would have no problem keeping up with him using Zexal form. He's not invincible just cuz he can create cards and "rewrite" them
Yusei #1 i love the overall vibes and realism and darkness of of 5d's. Yusei is just a guy that grew up on the streets poor, and segregated with the rest of his friends and made a change to the outlook of new domino city. I also loved how yusei never gave into darkness in the way some other characters did. Idk man i just cant see any of the other protags on that evel pf maturity
I want to show you my rankings of the main protagonists and what I think about them. #7 Yuga Ohdo- Compared to the other protagonists he just seems really boring and I feel the same way about Sevens. #6 Yuma Tsukamo- I really enjoyed his underdog story in the first half of Zexal and the second half really helped show us that it's okay for Yu-Gi-Oh heroes to be scared of these dangerous opponents. #5 Yuya Sakaki- The duel style he used was really entertaining to watch and the emotional journey he went through made him feel really sympathetic #4 Yusei Fudo- This guy was one of the coolest protagonists I have ever seen an epic brave warrior that is always ready to lead the charge. # 3 Jaden Yuki- The Hero deck he used was probably one of the most amazing in the franchise and his personality just made him even cooler # 2 Yusaku Fujiki- The mystery surrounding his past and the epic battle he was fighting in a virtual world was just incredible # 1 Yugi/ Atem- The one that stated it all and a protagonist that everyone wants to watch from beginning to end his adventure will always be an important part of Yu-Gi-Oh history
4:07 When did he lose? I am pretty sure he is the only undefeated MC. Even above Yusei. You may not count Jack, because of a flashback, but he still lost to Kalin. The duel runner saved him
I would like to say that Yuga(from Sevens) is a self proclaimed revolutionist. However I view what he did a bit differently. He practically forced his way of dueling on to everyone. Which doesn’t quite sit well with me. Sure if it was an option in the series for the characters to switch over to the new way that would have been nice and interesting to see.
"Forced" is a strong word. He more introduced the programming for it to every duel disk, then went around trying to convince people of the format. It's not like the code for Goha Duels vanished, and he even specifically made a code so that people could play whatever type of duel they wanted, not just however _he_ wanted. He's not trying to force anyone to do anything, just convince them to see his perspective.
Yuma is actually my favorite lol😅 I think he has the best development of the franchise and while I get why most people don't like him, I think most are missing the point of him not being a good duelist in the beginning being because it's the start of his hero's journey. Also, never watched the English dub for any yu gi oh, straight Japanese with subs for me. Yeah, for what I heard his dub va made him sound extra annoying. Yugi (not counting Atem) is actually my least favorite.
Yusaku lost 0 duels in his show He drew thrice but never lost Out of all yugioh shows he is tne only protagonist to never lose a duel, yusei I give him the loss against kiryu cause If his D wheel didn’t break he would have lost There were no situations where that happened to yusaku And If you’re counting yusakus loss to soul burner in duel links I wouldn’t, it didn’t take place in the series itself in my opinion
Yusaku/Playmaker never lost either. The lowest result he's had was we drew twice against Revolver His only losses were when he was kidnapped and tortured as a kid while being forced to VR duel If you wanna be technical, Playmaker's only loss is in Duel Links cuz you start with Soulburner and you can only proceed through the world after beating Playmaker. And Vrains World is canon cuz its events take place AFTER the anime cuz Playmaker manage to get Ai back but it's not the same Ai we knew from the anime
How anyone would put Jaden above Yugi is beyond me. Yugi is an actual genius of the game and his strategies are actually intelligent. He was,is and always will be YUGIOH!
Watching the video, I really enjoyed how you gave solid reasoning for most of the characters and their placements. Although, I had a feeling at the start that Jaden would be your favorite! 😂
I’m sorry Yuma is unskilled? And then u put yuga on top??? This is sad man, reason he’s not as good at guess, yuji and Jaden is because he actually gets better due to time and time😭😭, I don’t care about the other ranking but put respect on Yuma man🙏🙏🙏
This video is crazy just for the fact it almost completely fits in line with my opinion... "Almost". Yuma got such a bad rep in this though lmao, he's the least skilled protagonist but the story uses that to its advantage to make a compelling protagonist. I'd move him up just below Yuya
Wow fair enough, but I relate to lil Yugi more, also he didn't need prep time, he and Aten split their deck, and filled in the rest with their own cards. Atem carried Yugi in duels because Yugi carried his soul, that was his payment.
@@Bralore125This. I think people forget the detail of Atem and Yugi prepping their decks separately and secretly. So any "prep time" Yugi had was formulating strats for the *anime God cards* and straight up mind-gaming Atem's choices. Atem carried early game, but Yugi actually had an arc and is the rightful king.
I would have agreed Judai is the best however season 4 judai is a big disappointment he's boring and everything that was interesting about him became boring he became serious and that was it and he didn't even explore his relationship with Yubel and his tag team with Johan was awful Johan was saving him 24/7 and it wasnt even a tag duel and finally he just wants to win in dueling and to me Yugi is better because he always duels for the correct reasons and he's not perfect himself the orichalcous arc while not canon explored Yugis dark side and it's consequences Yugi develops and matures and his very final duel with Atem is the greatest to his character growth Judai has a final duel with Yugi but it's not the same so Judai would personally rank for me either 2nd or 3rd but Yugi will always be the best
The Arc V Anime is just like the Card Game you have to understand the other Summoning mechanics in order to play Pendulum. So better watch everything that comes before in order to have a better experience. 1 Jaden is my Nr:1 too for the same reasons as in the Video 2 Yuya is very interesting because he is a Split personality and has much to offer as the series progresses 3 Yusei is more stoic but very cool even cooler as his rival 4 Yuma was very annoying at first but he became more mature as the series Progresses but i still dont know why him of all characters have a Harem. 5 Yugi is very plain a bit boring for my taste he plays never fair but judges everyone else for cheating. a real hypocrite he has the power to cheat himself throgh everything 6 Yusaku is here because i never watched the Vrains anime as far to properly rank him 7 Yuga is here because i only played the Nintendo Switch game of Rush duel. and he realy didnt stand out quite well in this game.
I’m glad you put Yugi and not Atem and all your points are valid but Yusaku never loses except as a child in flashbacks unless duel links is cannon to you then he lost to Soulburner but in the series he has 3 draws and no dnf which imo are a loss without your life points hitting 0 draws mean ur too much for ur opponent but they can’t show them losing yet gotta hype em up I’m glad Yusei isn’t your favorite tired of everyone saying he’s the best
I think The best 3 are 1)Judai 2) Yugi 3) Yusei but Yusaku and Yuya had great potential but were written poorly. Yuma simply sucks and i wont talk about the Rush ones... Cant believe we have the exact same taste.
@@ConnelTEW joey, unlike others, never got op anime cards and he was stuck with the average playground deck like us mere mortals... and yet he managed to put a fair fight against a GOD! he was the only one who managed to defeat one of the Orichalcos Musketeers at first try, unlike Yami and Kaiba who got a lost and a draw. Also, it's heavly implied that he defeated Yami Yugi off screen since he got his Red-Eyes back and it was stated multiple times that he wanted to earn it only trought beating Yami in a duel. In the end, he's not a terrible duellist, he just got a terrible deck.
HARD disagree for the tomato-head. I'll grant his manga self, but he just got too run into the ground, like the rest of his show to rise above the very bottom.
Before I watch my list is. YUYA: by far the worst. JUDAI: yuya but he gets better in season 4. YUMA: stupid and annoying but not insufferable. YUGA: oblivious to everything. YAMI: poor loser also cheat. YUSAKU: decent when he's not being playmaker. YUSEI: awesome no contest. I haven't watched go rush yet and I haven't read enough of structures to have an informed opinion.
I’m trying to watch Zeaxl now and it’s really hard because of Yuma 🫠🫠 I’m hoping the comments are right and he gets better but at this point ( I’m 7 episodes in) he’s beyond cringe and annoying AF. I’ll come back after I binge watch tomorrow
@ believe it or not, it wasn’t always the norm for teens to be OD cringey. Ash made it 25* years without being cringe, Yugi made it like 10 + years without being cringe. I have to assume you’re 15-19 and you’ve been raised in a generation where being lame and cringe is just the way to be but nah, that’s not cool kid.
@FleepacShakur Ash doesn't even go to school or have a life similar to the one irl. Yugi being shy and quiet ensured that the only friends he got were after he made a wish via the millennium puzzle.

I don’t mind Yuga so much, I’ll probably have to give the show a second watch through to make a better decision tho!
Honestly I liked Yuga, but hated Yuma. I watched the dub of Zexal, and his voice was so annoying. I couldn't get own board with Zexal, and at the time I watched it, so I'll have to rewatch it
But in the first arc he was a low tactic ability only he do is to stread attacks with out thinking
Watch the sub
Watch the sub ver. Plz and start with zexal 2nd and 1st as the prequel that's the order i watch of zexal@@Bralore125
Thanks man!
I agree Jaden is the goat and Yugi too
one is the best protagonist with a large story about himself and character development and Yugi is the face of the franchise and the first one, nostalgia
Amazing job. And ai is best character not only vrains but all yugioh
I'm sorry, but you're completely wrong about Yuma. His growth from episode 1 to the finale, is just an amazing thing. Yuma doesn't come off as oblivious or cocky, he's just a preteen and so there's always going to be some kind of immaturity.
Please keep it up. I'm subscribed now! You're vintner is easy to understand and well edited
Hey, are you working on the battle city rewrite, or are you just taking a break, just wondering. We are anticipating the next video.
Just took a break but it’s gone on far longer than I expected, battle city rewrite not coming for a little while because I don’t want to upload it unless I have to whole story finished to a high standard. New video tomorrow tho!
@@tay-yugiohI understand that you don’t want to upload it yet.
When’s the next episode of the rewrite
Yuma being so low is criminal
He's the best protagonist in the franchise and the strongest using zexal morph. Even without it he's at least midway through the protagonists in strength
It’s not ranked on strength, it’s based on how much I enjoyed him! And I didn’t!
@@tay-yugioh trash take then tbh but whatever
Lol the other protagonists would have no problem keeping up with him using Zexal form. He's not invincible just cuz he can create cards and "rewrite" them
@huntercoleman4050 take? Brother its subjective
Excellent taste. Jaden is the goat
#5 Yuya Sakaki- The duel style he used was really entertaining to watch and the emotional journey he went through made him feel really sympathetic
#4 Yusei Fudo- This guy was one of the coolest protagonists I have ever seen an epic brave warrior that is always ready to lead the charge.
# 3 Jaden Yuki- The Hero deck he used was probably one of the most amazing in the franchise and his personality just made him even cooler
# 2 Yusaku Fujiki- The mystery surrounding his past and the epic battle he was fighting in a virtual world was just incredible
# 1 Yugi/ Atem- The one that stated it all and a protagonist that everyone wants to watch from beginning to end his adventure will always be an important part of Yu-Gi-Oh history
Yuma on last place
Inmediate dislike
That's a place that Yusaku deserves
nah
Personally, I would have put Atem on here, too, since the OG is as much his story as it is Yugi's, if not moreso.
All this to say that he would rank the lowest for me.
Yeah I get it, if they weren’t trying to sell rush duels so much there’d probably have been more master format duels
Great job with this list! I, honestly, agree with your choices and like how unique your opinions are! 😊
Yuma is actually my favorite lol😅
I think he has the best development of the franchise and while I get why most people don't like him, I think most are missing the point of him not being a good duelist in the beginning being because it's the start of his hero's journey.
Also, never watched the English dub for any yu gi oh, straight Japanese with subs for me.
Yeah, for what I heard his dub va made him sound extra annoying.
Yugi (not counting Atem) is actually my least favorite.
This has to be rage bait, jaden first 😭
Fucking true
Jaden GOATed???
Jaden deserves to be #1. His arc is arguably the best of every protagonist
Yusaku lost 0 duels in his show
He drew thrice but never lost
Out of all yugioh shows he is tne only protagonist to never lose a duel, yusei I give him the loss against kiryu cause If his D wheel didn’t break he would have lost
There were no situations where that happened to yusaku
And If you’re counting yusakus loss to soul burner in duel links
I wouldn’t, it didn’t take place in the series itself in my opinion
Who did playmaker lose to ?
Yusaku/Playmaker never lost either. The lowest result he's had was we drew twice against Revolver
His only losses were when he was kidnapped and tortured as a kid while being forced to VR duel
If you wanna be technical, Playmaker's only loss is in Duel Links cuz you start with Soulburner and you can only proceed through the world after beating Playmaker. And Vrains World is canon cuz its events take place AFTER the anime cuz Playmaker manage to get Ai back but it's not the same Ai we knew from the anime
Hol up, tay uploaded again
“It’s been awhile”
It’s only been a week😭
I know, but every upload slaps, this wasn't meant to be something like, wow it's been so long
What if Yugi Muto is the Pyramid of Light's holder?
What if Yuma Tsukumo are partnered with Don Thousand/E'Rah?
tayler, what are your thoughts on the ongoing crisis in yemen?
Out of place, but at least SOMEONE remembers that one. Even before Ukraine and Gaza, NOBIDY was talking about that. Nor Sudan, Guyana or Myanmar.
Yemen more like yay men
How does the search yield "No views" but the count _here_ yields a nonzero result?? Who's *programming* this site???
Yeah it’s a bit of a weird one
How anyone would put Jaden above Yugi is beyond me. Yugi is an actual genius of the game and his strategies are actually intelligent. He was,is and always will be YUGIOH!
Jaden is that guy. The best protag by far. Man was just cool as hell
@@LateNightSausage I feel sorry for you
Yh in terms of dueling yugi top but as a character jaden is better as a character. Not talking about better duelist
Jaden is deff the best
1. Yugi
2. Yusei
3. Yusaku
4. Jaden
5. Yuma
6. Yuya
7. Yuga
What's the point of making a top if you're only going to reaffirm your confirmation bias?
Tay- Yu Gi Oh Fantasy, your list is incredibly flawed!
Cook him
Watching the video, I really enjoyed how you gave solid reasoning for most of the characters and their placements.
Little Yugi is the best
Atems back is still hurting from carrying him so hard
Yugi needed prep time to beat atem. Change my mind
@@Mrrynyeah, at the time, I hadn’t watched the 5th season for a while. I do think lil yugi is the king. But atem is really good.
I smell favoritism
Is that not the point
Bro causes me mind crush with. This comment
My favorite Yu-Gi-Oh protagonists:
8. Yusaku Fujiki (Playmaker)
7. Yuya Sakaki
6. Yuga Ohdo
5. Yudias
4. Yuma Tsukamo
3. Yusei Fudo
2. Yugi Muto
1. Jaden Yuki
Good list!
@tay-yugioh Thanks dude, urs isn't bad either and we got the same top 3 lol ain't that a coincidence lol
I love Jaden so much.
The Arc V Anime is just like the Card Game you have to understand the other Summoning mechanics in order to play Pendulum.
So better watch everything that comes before in order to have a better experience.
1 Jaden is my Nr:1 too for the same reasons as in the Video
2 Yuya is very interesting because he is a Split personality and has much to offer as the series progresses
3 Yusei is more stoic but very cool even cooler as his rival
4 Yuma was very annoying at first but he became more mature as the series Progresses but i still dont know why him of all characters have a Harem.
5 Yugi is very plain a bit boring for my taste he plays never fair but judges everyone else for cheating. a real hypocrite he has the power to cheat himself throgh everything
6 Yusaku is here because i never watched the Vrains anime as far to properly rank him
7 Yuga is here because i only played the Nintendo Switch game of Rush duel. and he realy didnt stand out quite well in this game.
Protagonists ranked list is
8.Yusaku /Playmaker
7.Yuga Ohdo
6.Yudais
5.Yuma Tsukumo
4.Yuya Sakaki
3.Yugi/Atem
2.Judai Yuki
1.Yusei Fudo
swear the protags name is in the title mate "yugi" oh
There’s 8 different series mate
Rivals! Go’
I’m glad you put Yugi and not Atem and all your points are valid but Yusaku never loses except as a child in flashbacks unless duel links is cannon to you then he lost to Soulburner but in the series he has 3 draws and no dnf which imo are a loss without your life points hitting 0 draws mean ur too much for ur opponent but they can’t show them losing yet gotta hype em up I’m glad Yusei isn’t your favorite tired of everyone saying he’s the best
Yusei is just an edgy boys favourite
@@tay-yugioh Yusei isn’t even an edgy character? He’s just the most mature because he’s the oldest protag.
Yugi has to be number 1 even tho I like Jaiden too
You did my boy Yuma dirty tho 😭
yuma last instant dislike and skip
I think The best 3 are 1)Judai 2) Yugi 3) Yusei but Yusaku and Yuya had great potential but were written poorly.
Yuma simply sucks and i wont talk about the Rush ones...
Cant believe we have the exact same taste.
Unfortunately Yudias clears
Sadly just haven’t had the time to get round to watching that whole series, but I’ll take your word for it!
Yuya At the very bottom yuma is in the top 4 You saku is a second close to you, yeah. Yuga is in the top 5. And that's it
The disrespect on Yuga smh
I do not like your list...........
Yuya being that high on the list😒 And Yuma being the worst!?!?!?
Get Real!
My man yuya was dueling cops in synchro dimension and wanted to make them smile, while they're actively trying to arrest him.
can’t stomach this mic.
Stop eating it then
Wow
@@Bralore125 ??? What’s the problem friend?
my ranking:
1- Yusei
2- Atem
3-Yuya, i don't actually like him but his odd-eyes is cool
4 and 5 is a tie between jaden and yuma.
👍
Yuya worst protagonist
Joey bottom
He is not a protag smh
@tay-yugioh yeah because he sucks and they know he can't carry the show
@@ConnelTEWshow some respect for Joey! He was the only one who made Marik shit his pants.
@madeinmeme9688 he also makes me shit my pants when I see his terrible dueling on my screen
I haven't watched go rush yet and I haven't read enough of structures to have an informed opinion.
booooooooooooooooooooooo
I’m trying to watch Zeaxl now and it’s really hard because of Yuma 🫠🫠
I’m hoping the comments are right and he gets better but at this point ( I’m 7 episodes in) he’s beyond cringe and annoying AF.
I’ll come back after I binge watch tomorrow
"Hes cringy and annoying"
Yeah, he's 14. That's normal 14 yo behavior
@FleepacShakur
Ash doesn't even go to school or have a life similar to the one irl.
Yugi being shy and quiet ensured that the only friends he got were after he made a wish via the millennium puzzle.
