I have Maurice Daly's book of billiards. He and another American man named Ives were masters of the game at the turn of the twentieth century. These techniques are diagrammed in that book. But though Mr. van Hooff makes it look easy, it is tremendously difficult. You have to control your breathing to hit that softly.
The technique called "Americana Series" was invented in Canada in late 1800 by brothers Joseph and Cyrille Dion and was officially launched in Europe the first time in April 1880 in Paris during the epic match of free French Carom held for the World supremacy between the French Champion Maurice Vignaux and.........................-cont-
It does not look easy, I have tried it ( very badly) on an English billiards table, but have not seen it done so fluently before. I would love to visit this place when next I am in the Netherlands in September. What is the name of the Room?...and thanks again to both you and Mr van Hooff for this superb exhibition of a lifetime's work. It is truly beautiful.
Legend has it that the Great Vignaux, in contrast to the stunned audience watched the American player to continue uninterruptedly with his shots, conversely observed carefully the technique of his opponent's game, so that during the night without interruption he trained with his coach and next day, the resumption of the match, managed to achieve a record 1451 points in one shot, leaving the U.S. froze in his chair and triumphantly won the match.

Ik heb zojuist een serie van 110 bij ankerkader 57/2 meegemaakt. In die wedstrijd zijn ze er ook van 250 geweest. Het ziet er inderdaad zo gemakkelijk uit, maar als je het dan zelf gaat proberen is het dromen al snel voorbij :P Mooi filmpje trouwens :D
Je had het wel mis met je 10.000 keer bekeken worden. Het zijn er inmiddels 130.000 keer :) Mooie video, vooral met die cafégeluiden op de achtergrond :)

ziet er zeer perfect uit weet dat je dit met gemak komplete billiard rond kunt gaan zelf speelde ik fractie boven 1 gemiddeld maar me interesse is nooit geweest om als bovenstaande manier te spelen
mijn hoogste serie is 8 ik ben 22 jaar pas maar ik zie dan al die mensen die al heel wat meerdere jaartjes erop hebben zitten als ik de mannen met de grijze haartjes. en ik wil t gewoon leren door middel van dit soort filmpjes te kijken zodat ik eens kan winnen van hun!

I would love to learn a little more about De Serie Americaine.
Die korte stootjes controleren is voor mij het moeilijkst. Binnen 3 stootjes liggen ze al weer uit elkaar.Normaal speel ik 2 gem. Dit is een prachtige video. Kan er geen genoeg van krijgen. Ik ben al lang bezig deze te beoefenen, maar het wil niet lukken.
