Birthdays are BIG deal to me, too. With the exception of my first year( which was horrible), I don't work on my birthday. I have gone on trips, had brunches with friends, had relaxing staycations. As a matter of fact, my students don't know when my birthday is. In the past, I often wouldn't even tell my coworkers. My birthday is for me and my family. Happy belated birthday to you.
I cant believe a school still allows "junk food" that isnt individually wrapped or is gluten, nut, dairy free. I WISH my kids schools allowed that but even back before the pandemic they were cracking down. :(
