Hi guys! Paul was absolutely tremendous and I just read his comment he sent you from New Zealand. What a thrill that must have been for both of you. Yes, it began a career that continues to this day. There were three particular acts during the early years of Britain's Got Talent which set the stage for Got Talent Shows to spread out all over the world. You just heard Paul Potts audition. You already heard Susan Boyle's audition. So, what was the third act? Well, it was the finalist who was edged out by Paul Potts in a vote (unofficially) which had to be very, very close. So, you must be wondering, Paul was fantastic so who in the world could have almost bested him? To be fair, since you listened to the auditions of Paul and Susan, it is best you listen to the audition of the third act. Her name is Connie Talbot and she sang 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' a cappella. You could hear a pin drop during her performance. Oh, btw, Connie was 6 years old (2007). She's now 22 and continues to sing and play the piano and write music. When you listen to her audition you will understand what Paul Potts had to contend with to win the Show.
Still to today my most fourite first audition and contestant ever. Seen quite a few of his interviews over the years... He stayed down to earth and humble! ❤
Please, please, PLEEEASE check out Andrew De Leon's audition on America's Got Talent back in 2012. Talk about an example of subverting expectations! If you think Paul Potts, Susan Boyle, or the Opera Duo of Johnathan & Charlotte were amazing, you will be blown away by Andrew De Leon's ethereal voice. He literally sounds like an angel that fell from the sky - trust me, that is no lie or exaggeration!
@@LadyOaksNZ , I'm sorry, I did not see your comment until now! Yes, Amira and Paul Potts sang "Con Te Partiro" together in 2014, when she was only 10. The video is on her "Amira Willighagen Official" TH-cam channel under the caption "Amira Willighagen and Paul Potts sing ConTe Partiro 19-11-2014. Take care and God bless!
You obviously don't know what an "Opera singer" is because he's nothing of the sort he is a Classical-Pop tenor and not even a particularly good one; Andrea Bocelli, Russell Watson and Alfie Boe are all much better then him in that niche but he doesn't have the voice for the operatic stage. Jonathan Antoine just might if he dedicates himself to studying for it but time is ticking and I have my doubts he ever will.
@@adamknight7041 , well, to each his own perception. In my estimation, he is, in fact, a very well-accomplished opera singer, AND one who is able to sing crossover as well. The ability to sing crossover or pop in no way should detract from the fact that he does, indeed, sing opera (Puccini, Verdi, and Wagner to name a few). This simply enhances the magnificence of his versatility. No one (at least in their right mind) would question the fact that Placido Domingo is a great opera singer. Yet, he has recorded a lot of pop songs as well! The first one, I believe, was “Perhaps Love” as a duet with John Denver, who was about as far removed from opera as one could imagine! There is no law or rule which says a musical artist, even an opera singer, MUST stay confined to one genre of music. That’s ludicrous! If someone like Potts, or Domingo, or Antoine, or Willighagen, etc., have the extraordinary skills to expand and broaden their horizons, they should not be held back, boxed in, and put down by prejudiced, small-minded people who take macabre delight in criticizing them. So, nice try, fella! 😄
Jonathan Antin's 'Nessum Dorma' is also stunning. (he's the heavy opera singer that was nervous & sang with his friend Charlotte). Amira Willighagen singing in 2014 with Andre Reiu is listening to an angel.
I would love to hear Paul sing some Tom Jones songs. They have a similar powerhose voices. I bet he would sound fantastic. One of my favorite auditions.
Suggest you react to the greatest contestant on American Idol - Adam Lambert. Start with his performance of "Mad World", but every time he performed he absolutely killed it. In case you don't know, Adam Lambert has been the lead singer for Queen for the past 10+ years. And, he has already released several of his own albums. Truly, he is a superstar!
You have done all my fav performers.......I love Paul and other those you have reacted to. If you have an opportunity please react to Tom Ball. Also from BGT and AGT this year. Some of his are I who have nothing, Sound of Silence, and Creep........You might like him. I get chills Simon referred to him like Susan Boyle.
This is a rabbit hole you should go so deep inside. There are so many incredible performances from unknown artists that from both BGT and AGT and American Idol. Jackie Evancho. Collabro. Charlotte and Jonathan.
I love Paul Potts. He is awesome. Do yourselves, and us, a favor and have a look at the first audition of Charlotte and Jonathan. I would love to see your reaction to that audition.
Please check out Neal E. Boyd's performance on Americas Got Talent. I do not know how well he did in the competition but he went on to record one album then tragically passed away a few years later.
Believe it or not, James Corden played Paul Potts in a film covering this period of his life. And sadly a lot of the so-called Opera elite, critics mainly if i remember dissed him, who say's the class system is dead. Don't worry, they are nearly extinct.
Thank the Lord and common sense that they are almost extinct! Some have dissed Jonathan Antoine, Amira Willighagen and Laura Bretan as well. It must be awful to be an "opera elite" and still be blind, deaf, and dumb (as in stupid)!
Ok, so you have been introduced to Nessun Dorma, my favorite tenor aria BTW, and you have reacted to Home Free, guess what ? Rob Lundquist and Austin Brown are Two country singers try to sing opera, Nessun Dorma. It’s incredible, I will attach it for you, I hate to admit that I might be a music snob, but good music is good music 🥰. Love your reactions, yes I have commented to many of your videos today, I would love to hear Dimash sing Nessun Dorma. th-cam.com/video/5dBENngNDhs/w-d-xo.html
There is a video from Holland's got Talent of 9 year old Amira Willighagen that is knock you on your butt amazing and surprising. Any time I am having a rough day, I put it on. You can't not smile.
Yo wats Bars and Barbells, if you wanna react to cricket to understand the rules better and how cricket is played, then react to these two cricket videos, one cricket video is called Cricket for Americans (by youtuber Slate) and the second cricket video is called The Rules of cricket explained (by youtuber Ninh Ly). Once you react to these cricket videos explaining about the rules of cricket and how it's played, you guys will get a clear, better understanding of cricket, and you will enjoy it even more. If you guys have questions or suggestions on what cricket videos to react to, I can help you guys, just ask me or I can leave a comment of what's the next cricket video for you to react to.
I'd like to think you can hear Jonathan Antoine was alot better because he's classically trained and Paul Potts wasn't, even Russell Watson is better then him.
Paul Potts is absolutely incredible! I have to slightly disagree with Amanda. He was not a lump of coal turning into a diamond, at least vocally. He was already a diamond -- just like Jonathan Antoine!
Am on tur in New Zealand at the moment, guys - have done around 1200 shows in the last 16 years. My thanks to everyone for teh support over the years
Thanks for your amazing artistry, Paul! Best of luck with the tour & thanks for dropping us a comment!
Amazing voice, Paul!
Just wondered if you managed to sell Simon a new mobile phone?
@@barsandbarbells2022massive fan Paul, you rock
👏👏👏👏👏 Congrats Paul!
Paul went on to win the show, he’s now worth 10 million.

How brilliant was it to put the Aerosmith tune at the end. Paul became a super star.
Great voice, there is a fantastic video where he came into a large shopping centre and really treated the shoppers to something incredible.
Still to today my most fourite first audition and contestant ever. Seen quite a few of his interviews over the years... He stayed down to earth and humble! ❤
Paul won the 1sr season of BGT and deservedly so. Love him.
Loved him!!! I was a kid when he won, but i rooted for him
I believe he won this talent competition and sang for the Queen.
and he has turned into a diamond
He was the first winner of BGT and similar to Susan Boyle is a world renown singer.. 💝

One of my favourites from BGT is Calum Scott singing Dancing on my own, he’s also gorgeous! 😍
He has become a world class, world famous opera singer. He and Amira Willighagen sang together once as well, if I remember correctly.

Beautiful! Try "Nessun Dorma" by the Master....Luciano Pavarotti! Just to compare the intensity.
Yeah. Pavarotti is a few more levels.
almost all of audience glued to their seats
my bad, pasted to wrong video!
Im sure theres a movie about him . . The struggles he had . . Watch it if you can . . . Love yr vids . . Hi from new zealand . .
Take a look at the film "One Chance" 2013. It's the story of Paul Potts and how he got onto the show, Britain's got talent.
If you want, you can watch movie "ONE CHANCE" IT is story of life Paul Potts with this performance at the end.

That's your opinion. IMO Jennifer Hudson is the greatest AI contestant. After all, she won an Oscar.

I'm partial to the surprise of Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. The 2nd or 3rd year winner of AGT.
I'm sure someone has already told you, but he won the competition.
HE IS AMAZING, INCREDIBLE !!!
The classic "don't judge a book by it's cover" :)

I love Paul Potts. He is awesome. Do yourselves, and us, a favor and have a look at the first audition of Charlotte and Jonathan. I would love to see your reaction to that audition.
thet did that already. thet need to do the semi finals which really shows off Charlotte's voice.
Land Of Song 🏴
The following year, Greg Pritchard did this song on the show. You should watch that. No spoilers.
Please check out Neal E. Boyd's performance on Americas Got Talent. I do not know how well he did in the competition but he went on to record one album then tragically passed away a few years later.
When Simon starts playing with his ear...that means $$$$$$$$$$
He was the first winner of the first season.
Believe it or not, James Corden played Paul Potts in a film covering this period of his life. And sadly a lot of the so-called Opera elite, critics mainly if i remember dissed him, who say's the class system is dead. Don't worry, they are nearly extinct.

You want goose bumps listen to Amelia Willinghagen from Holland Got Talent
Please do Johnathan Antoine (I think with Charlotte) on Britain’s got talent.

Im cutting unions right now sorry
This is the guy who beat Suzan Boyle in the final.
No, Paul Potts was an earlier year to Susan. A Dance Group (they were brilliant), beat Susan Boyle in the final of her year.
Nope. Diversity beat Susan Boyle.
I like you guys and your reactions, but too many pauses in the wrong place outside me off…. 😢
Paul Potts is absolutely incredible! I have to slightly disagree with Amanda. He was not a lump of coal turning into a diamond, at least vocally. He was already a diamond -- just like Jonathan Antoine!
So annoying when you pause at the best bits 2:52 and 4:14
