    You did well with the 4 course dinner. Looked good, especially the dip. You only need one layer of foil, I always get the heavy duty foil. Foil doesn't burn, so you're good with one layer and the food will cook faster. Also, best to let the fire burn down to hot coals and then put the food on the grate. Hot coals are much hotter than a flame and cook more consistently. Love your winter camping in the tent. I'm an avid camper and love it. Take care.

    Ok, yes two layers of foil on everything. Let your fire burn down and cook on the coals. Flames are to hot to cook well unless you are boiling water. You can put the foil packs directly in the coals. Try taking an Apple, core it put a slice about a 1/4-1/2 inch of butter in foil with it and some cinnamon and sugar and put it in the coals until it is soft. You will love it. Once you get on to the foil cooking it will be your favorite way to cook in a camp fire.

    I would say, a cast iron skillet can be used for almost anything. I know the clean up might take longer, but in the end, it's worth it!

    If you want to use a pot/pan on the grill instead of foil, rub the bottom with something like fels naptha soap to prevent scorching.

    Number one you forgot the baked potatoes. Number two it's lot easier to wrap it in the first layer of aluminum foil and then to re-wrap it and a second layer of aluminum foil. And I always use the heavy duty aluminum foil when I'm camping. And it's always easy to use a little butter, olive oil, you don't need the spray-on vegetable oil. And if you wrap it in heavy-duty foil you can actually put it down in the fire charcoal

    I have always been comfortable on my own. After my divorce I got reacustomed to it again. A couple of tips for "Pouch cooking" First use the heavy duty foil and the widest you can get probably 16-18" Roll out a piece about 20-24" long. Visulize a center line accross the length.that you pulled out, Now place your food in the center of one of those halfs. Add some olive oil or butter to this food to prevent sticking. Now fold over the length ( 20-24") and take those edges and fold over about 3/8" and press tight, push down with the back of your thumbnail. Repeat this fold 2 or more times. Now do the ends the same way. This will give you a pouch that will puff up on the grill like Jiffy Pop. You dont want the food compressed and when you flip it it wont leak and its like stirring it too. Potatoes with onions and red peppers and garlic are soooo good fixed like this. What you made looked good. You should have more coals for cooking over and some 2 pairs of tongs so you dont tear the foil. Plus I am working on a baked pear with a brown sugar, cinnamon and bourbon glaze fixed in a pouch. Great video.

    When I was at boy scout camp somebody showed me to cook a baked potato, you slice it in half then make slices in the halves, put a generous amount of butter in and wrap well in tin foil and throw it in the fire. after a while open it, put sour cream and chives on. That is still the best baked potato I've ever had.✌😎

    #1 take your tin foil layer if is not heavy duty, If heavy duty doesn't need to be. Put what ever you want in it bring two sides of the foil together and roll it down to the food. Then roll the sides into it. But you know you at least trying without instructions Good job!!!

  • @hsoderberg6505
    @hsoderberg6505 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've found one layer of foil to be sufficient, especially given you're using a good quality wrap. Also, you can wrap potatoes in foil and put them directly in with the wood. Let the flame go down a bit first before putting the food on the grate.

      Yes I love jacket potatoes. Knife the cross in and add the cheese and butter. Wrap in foil. Put in middle of fire. 5-10mins. I sometimes wrap a opened microwave rice with foil and next to fire for a few mins.

    Ok pay seriously attention to cross contamination. You cut chicken with the scissors then cut chives and placed cut chives back in the container this contaminating the entire chives container. Hahaha
    Also place the packages farther from the heat. Low and slow not microwave fast. Plus some oil or butter with the veggies would help. But in the end food is food when you’re hungry. Soon you can start a cooking with blue channel lol
